Animatrix , still gud' after all these years. It doesn't seem like they rendered in 1080p back then.

Can anyone tell what res they rendered in from screenshot ?

Damn, another good one I forgot about!  I'm keeping 21:9 monitors at the top of my list for the eventual total setup upgrade.. so horizontal.. very wide

You will need something like a 1080-1080ti to run high quality video transformation into ultrawide.

Little mermaid on 4K.

IDK, looks kinda soft..  Might be due to degrain algorithm

Textures look decently preserved. Slightly less grain than the Remastered 1080p ver.

Watching anime on a bad monitor.. It really takes me back.. So Nostalgia, Much old.

It's a very different feeling..

Back in the day on an x30, later x200 laptop, quality was terrible.. Divx, do u young people even remember divx.. when divx came out, that was like h264 , because we had most anime in Mpg, 320x240. And before mpg, we had .RM  , christ.. Real media.. ugh...  I remember watching flame of recca years later, and didn't even recognize it, because I saw it originally on .RM  .. the quality was so bad, I thought I watched a different anime.

Man, had the x30 forever, until it was finally completely dead.

I even remember buying sets of VCD anime, my god, they crammed 10 episodes per CD..

Oh man..  what was it, 9700 pro AIOW,  when Media center windoz came out, I were tapn' my shows on Toonami.

It was faster than downloading the episodes on kazaa..

Eventually I changed it out for a x1900xtx with Vivo, but I had to get a separate hauppauge tuner. S-video was pretty decent on pc monitors. I can't remember if the software/ vivo chip had a comb filter, pretty sure it did.

Kazaa.. Limewire.. eDonkey.. uTorrent... back when I would use mcafee stinger to get virus scan results.  Learned how to remove baddies manually because I didn't trust anti-virus removal tools. fun times

Accel World..

Honestly,  the whole premise is Surprisingly similar to Meth/Amphet salt/Ritalin/Adderall     use  / addiction...   Once you've tried it, you fight for it.

It came out not too long ago, a synthetic, man created drug...

It accelerates focus / drive  through pleasure hijacking, bring the person to a different reality / plain of perception

It can be used to WIN fights, get Better Grades, etc..

Not sure this is a positive world view/ plot device for young people.

Well, the new OPM season looks like **** :D Crappy details on the characters and the fight scenes are just shaky camera effect cranked to 11.

Ace of Diamond Act II and Mix are crack for my veins and Kimetsu no Yaiba is looking like a pretty good adaptation  :thumb:

AoT S3 is gonna be amazing though..

The scanning resolution looks higher.  maybe it looks less detailed because they're using more computer shading ? I notice a heavy application of gradients vs OPM 1

The first episode wasn't the same lvl of action as last season.. it shoullld ramp up though.

I wonder what scanning resolution they're using for the latest animes, it looks LOWER than 1080p though. because there's alot of aliasing/ random patches of smoothing.

I don't understand what prevents them from using Higher resolution. certainly modern PCs are inexpensive enough to handle such tasks.

In spite of the studio change, I am still enjoying One Punch Man S2; it's been fun seeing how they animate the manga. The differences between webcomic and other representations have been interesting to see as well.

S2 definitely doesn't feel as Extravagant.  less use of specular highlights.

Strongly agree with your point. Sometimes it feels really dated; It might be coming from the art style in which the characters are drawn though.

Let's face it, it looks like ****. All the fights scenes are just trembling frames and even the sounds seem generic. The characters are drawn lazily and just everything about the show visually screams "low budget <7 MAL-rated generic magic high school harem show"

I mean it's still good, but it's a bit of a letdown considering season 1 and the source material.

I don't think I agree that it looks like ****. Like any studio is has it's low budget looking moments. The style just seems old, like (Not quite like)Slayers, or X: The movie; The whole pointy chin and long narrow face style. How anime used to look vs. The expressive style or the stylized (Unique style to the show)animation we see a lot today.

S2 overall was a let down if I'm being honest, I really tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, and while there was some okay action at the end and I enjoyed quite a bit of the humor throughout; it didn't feel as climactic as S1. Not sure if I'm more annoyed by the visuals now that it's over or the fact they split the arc into another season. Naivety goes a long way I guess.

Silver lining(potentially) is that Garo vs OPM won't be animated by these guys next time.

The art style is highly inferior to S1, there is no way around that. I do agree with your previous assessment that it was lazily drawn by today's standards.

Antarctica has a little too much drama for me, and Yuru Camp is too vanilla. Post apocalyptic slice of life is the alpha and the omega. I like them both a lot though.

I remember watching it for the first time over a decade ago, and couldn't stand Shinji. I still can't, but the rest of the show still is very good.
