Filco "lights up"
« on: Sat, 15 January 2011, 07:35:37 »
I got a Filco in the mail yesterday, and started using it as soon as I could. I used it all day; no problems, but then this morning when I turned on my PC I noticed the LEDs kept blinking, every time they blinked all input was ignored.

Suddenly all my usb devices stop responding (hmf...) so I have to restart.
After the restart the Filco just lights up, all the LEDs light up, no response at all.
I have tried connecting it via the PS/2 connector that I got with it, does the same thing, tried another computer, same thing, all lights no response.

I found this thread which had a similar problem, but it sounds like the board was older than mine (brand new).

I got it from theKeyboardCo which I've read about on the forum and it seems they don't have a history of shipping bad hardware.

Did I get a bad one or is there a solution to the problem?

Oh and my other USB devices work again so it is probably not the computer.

Sounds defective. I would contact them and describe the problem. They should send you a new one.

Hi Mr Fish.

I am sorry, that does sound like a fault.
If you go on here

And fill in the form - we will get in touch and arrange replacement for you.
Apologies for your inconvenience, we will try to keep it to a minimum.

Waiting for three weeks for the keyboard and then having to return it after just one day of use, sucks to be me.

Hmf...I'll be packing it up and sending it back to the UK as soon as I can, hopefully it won't be too expensive.

It seems the keyboard has started working again after being unplugged for a couple of hours.

Should I still send it back or should I wait and see if it happens again?

Ha - nice location! I have a friend from Denmark and I always poke fun about "the land of the legos". Legos rock though. No one seems to love them here more than Ripster :D

My Danish friend prefers to talk about his 50% tax rate than legos.

It's the only two things we have going for us, and of course the fact that the Muslim world hates us because someone drew some dude in a turban.

Oh and free healthcare, free healthcare is awesome.

It's not the muslim world, it's extremist wannabe terrorists who use religion as a cover. Those people hate only themselves which equals hating everyone in the world (not just you poor Danes ;D).
Wait, this was a support thread.

We derail threads all the time. Personally, I actually think it's more so jealousy than hate. Which is actually kind of worse.

So, you're blaming a Danish-made cartoon on George Bush? That's pretty dumb.

Not that I like George Bush though. George Bush doesn't care about black legos!

It's pretty common in Europe to either blame Bush or the West for everything.

Given the hassle with shipping, maybe the latter. Then again, this sounds like a bad solder joint, so the problem could reoccur at any time.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Just went ahead and checked the trace & track number, it should be with them now (Post DK says this morning).

Not registered on the RMA yet...

Man, I'm tired of these rubber domes right now.
