I used to use Windows 2000. It's not actually that bad. Not much modern software will run on it, but it was fun to play NWN on! We could only play mechwarrior 4 on the XP machine, though.

I couldn't find a Windows 2000-related picture that would fit in there well.

I want to test it out, but i'm scared of killing my ergodox...  I don't give a sh17 if I break my Ps3.

I think the Ergodox should act just like any other USB keyboard to a computer/gaming system. Why not plug it in and find out?

If it is a USB keyboard, and a regular USB port on the PS3, there is practically no chance that it will break your ergodox.

I run 'em both. I've got machines in my personal fleet of computers running Windows 3.1, NT4, 95, 98, 2000, XP, 7 and 8. The Windows 3.1 one is the best hands down. And Windows 98 and 2000 are a very close second!

I'm not scared of breaking a keyboard.  I am scared of breaking my Ergodox... It is not just a keyboard.... I love it.....

You don't just "buy" an ergodox. You've gotta wait for a gb and then assemble it yourself.

You CAN buy an Ergodox (PCB).

And so what if the ergodox breaks? If it gets shorted or something, all that will happen is it'll fry the controller. The PCB's and key structure should be fine. Just swap controllers and you'll be good to go again.

this desoldering job is quite hard, there are many pins, and you might fry the traces.

What the heck? Desoldering through hole pins is not hard. And if you do fry a trace, you can greenwire it.

I used to use Windows 2000. It's not actually that bad. Not much modern software will run on it, but it was fun to play NWN on! We could only play mechwarrior 4 on the XP machine, though.

I run 'em both. I've got machines in my personal fleet of computers running Windows 3.1, NT4, 95, 98, 2000, XP, 7 and 8. The Windows 3.1 one is the best hands down. And Windows 98 and 2000 are a very close second!

You CAN buy an Ergodox (PCB).

And so what if the ergodox breaks? If it gets shorted or something, all that will happen is it'll fry the controller. The PCB's and key structure should be fine. Just swap controllers and you'll be good to go again.

this desoldering job is quite hard, there are many pins, and you might fry the traces.

What the heck? Desoldering through hole pins is not hard. And if you do fry a trace, you can greenwire it.

PC hardware is inherently better, as well as more customisable. Consoles more or less by definition lag behind. Besides, a PC is a tool that can be used for a lot more; consoles are very limited in this respect. Basically consoles are the budget option for those who can't afford a proper gaming system .

For everyone to have a laugh . Consoles are fun too! Roomate's girlfriend got us an xbox one for Christmas and I've been enjoying it! I used to play FPS games really competitively when I was a teenager, its been fun ****ting on all the Christmas noobs.

Pentium 3 is the precursor to C2D,  which means clock per clock, Pentium 3 is FASTER than Pentium 4.

2002 was the year of 9700pro (R300) AMD,   so.... xbox is slower,  but only by approximately 1 year..

--For such a mass market product @ that price, it's as state of the art as you can get.

I used to use Windows 2000. It's not actually that bad. Not much modern software will run on it, but it was fun to play NWN on! We could only play mechwarrior 4 on the XP machine, though.

That's the point - I have turned signatures off, so I don't need to see them, consequently I am not constrained by any particular browser requirements.

And btw Internet Explorer did run on Macs - back in the old OS 9 days (pre-OS X).  My old PowerMac AV8400 something has Internet Explorer on it.

Does anyone know if the ERGODOX is compatible with Playstation 3?

I want to test it out, but i'm scared of killing my ergodox...  I don't give a sh17 if I break my Ps3.

I think the Ergodox should act just like any other USB keyboard to a computer/gaming system. Why not plug it in and find out?

If it is a USB keyboard, and a regular USB port on the PS3, there is practically no chance that it will break your ergodox.

I agree--it should work fine! And don't be scared of breaking keyboards anyways...I do that all the time! Being scared is for wimps. And don't be a wimp--use Windows 98 instead!

I run 'em both. I've got machines in my personal fleet of computers running Windows 3.1, NT4, 95, 98, 2000, XP, 7 and 8. The Windows 3.1 one is the best hands down. And Windows 98 and 2000 are a very close second!

You CAN buy an Ergodox (PCB).

And so what if the ergodox breaks? If it gets shorted or something, all that will happen is it'll fry the controller. The PCB's and key structure should be fine. Just swap controllers and you'll be good to go again.

this desoldering job is quite hard, there are many pins, and you might fry the traces.

What the heck? Desoldering through hole pins is not hard. And if you do fry a trace, you can greenwire it.

Consoles are personal computers crippled into (malicious) appliances.

Pretty much every single game console (except some of the budget "TV games") has been an universal microcomputer in the last ~30 years. Same hardware architecture and what not.

A computer simply takes a stream of binary data and executes universal instructions on it. It's like a sheet of paper: you can write/draw/paint on it (anything you like), fold it into origami (any you like), use it to build other things, wipe your ass with it…

However, console vendors have managed to (mostly) lock down software to control the user. When they couldn't do it technically through DRM, which typically doesn't work properly—then through legal bullying (think Linux on PS3).

Such an issue is even more serious, when a lot of the computing happens over networks and some of the appliances don't work properly without checking against vendors' remote servers.

Unfortunately, these behaviors are spreading to non-appliance computers too, "Universal Windows Platform" being a classic offender, and let's not pretend that Steam doesn't give Valve power over users' systems, major misuse only hasn't been publicized yet. Any supported Windows installation also has an universal backdoor anyway (as Microsoft can push any code they like as an "update").

I used to have every console up until the PS3/360, but sold every single one of them except the original Wii. It's just too good as a party console for when I have people over. Everything else I either play on the PC, or stream it to my Shield TV and use a controller. Most games I still prefer kb/m though.

Whether I prefer keyboard and mouse or controller depends on the game I'm playing. Some genres feel a lot more natural on a controller (e.g. flight sims) while others are better with mouse (FPS). I also don't really care to keep any of the newer consoles around, whenever we host people at my place I just grab some controllers and emulate whatever I want.

Not really a big gamer, but was a console guy growing up. We started with the NES, then SNES, Sege Genesis, Nintendo 64, then Xbox, then Xbox 360. After I've been a PC guy when I was out of college and could afford to get a decent build.

Mostly I just play Skyrim, Fallout, and Dying Light. Even then I don't play much anymore.

However, with the announcement of Fight Night Champion now being compatible with the Xbox One, I'm thinking of grabbing a console. Always loved the fight night games.

Yea I had a NUC connected to my TV running BigBox for all my emulators and whatnot, but I ditched it and just brought the Wii with homebrew back out. We never really played the other emulators anyway, so I just moved everything to my PC.

I hate buying new consoles now. I always end up playing it for a couple weeks then get bored, and it just sits there collecting dust lol. Same thing happened with pretty much every console I've owned, besides the N64 and Wii. So many memories playing those with friends.

May be it's just my opinion, but I feel like aside from just the hardwares in a PC is much more superior, but playing in a game control by keyboard and mouse is much more natural and immersive than a controller from consoles.

Used to be a huge console guy...but now I prefer the PC and will typically choose to get the PC port of a game if available. Shooters particularly, a console controller just doesn't feel right compared to a mouse/keyboard setup.
