boost is designing an alu case for Phantom. No need to buy LZ-GH just for case. :)
Phantom may or may not fit in this LZ-GH case, due to the added bulk of the Teensy on the back of the Phantom PCB.

I think the only special caps in a sense are the modifiers. They aren't the typical 1.25 size. I think the 84 is 1.5x only with 7x spacebar and the 86 is 1.5x and 1x with 7x spacebar. A tsangan kit would fix you up for the right caps I believe.

My plate is royal blue, and already has switches (clears w/black springs, but remember the plate allows you to change without resoldering). boost and I are moderately local, we will work out a solution that is as inexpensive as possible. For the number of boards being done it may be a good idea for me to visit him or vice versa and the gas money would come out to $1-2 per board.

Can anyone explain how this swivel bar/feet design works? I'm assuming the feet are angled in one direction so swinging the bar around either moves the feet closer or farther from the front and thus affects the KB angle.

Caps / Scrl switches are no different than any other switch. There is only 1 caps lock and 1 scroll lock. If you for some reason wanted a different stem/spring that should answer it for you as well. Do NOT get a locking switch for the LZ-GH.

I don't understand what is so difficult about opening PayPal, clicking the "Request money" button, pasting in an email and an amount and submitting. For a $350+ purchase a real invoice shouldn't even be a second thought. I did real invoices for $3 keyboard keys in the Lambda group buy. I think what is happening is DrugER didn't want to invoice people, and boost is "invoicing" to DrugER's PayPal so that the PayPal fees don't have to be charged twice (when boost collects, and then when money is sent to DrugER).
Because 2 days later something shinier grabs their attention.

Daniel, I understand your side of it, that you are frustrated because the GB organizer (boost) is not the one receiving payments. You are right that it's not hard to make an invoice within Paypal and request money from the buyers.
However, if you want to participate in the GB, you have to follow the instructions of the organizer. And the instructions we were given were to send payment to another party, then fill out a form. That also is not a hard thing to do. :-\

Also, do you have any experience with PP from the perspective of a foreign country? Can they in fact produce an invoice? I find it odd that I can't invoice for services through PP (or perhaps I can, but I've never figured out how) in spite of people being able to send me money as services.I paid leesofi for something after he invoiced me, and another international person that I can't remember on a different occasion. If I have proxy payment I'll do it, but I'll give it another day. Maybe DrugER doesn't check the email that it is going to and boost can tell him to check his PMs here for the information.

Maybe I'm seeing what your concern is as something different, then. An invoice isn't going to eliminate or even throttle fraud if that's the case here.

I didn't know you knew anything about the Breakwater Tavern, but I usually stop by at the 7th Ave Bar & Restaurant in Helena Street Midland. Nice setup and the barkeep is nice to look at. That's exciting that the orders have now gone through. I'm not really a fan of full LED boards but I guess I can make an exception or just not turn them on every. I may have to reconsider my choice of green LEDs though :(Or just not solder any on lol.

Gosh, Saitek. An Eclipse was the first 'nice' keyboard I ever bought for myself. Not the greatest typing feel, but I didn't know any better at the time and liked the look (er, somewhat - but really, who am I kidding, the purchase was mostly motivated by the backlit keys).Haha, same here.

i actually much prefer the LZ-S, and even the kmac 1.2 (dat red) to the 2. what is the deal with the "in the future" thing? afaik, the kmac 1.2/2 GB on kbdmania is done, and sherryton was planning on making them available, but his paypal is ****ed.

The only LEDs that don't need modification are 3mm flat top columnar (no flange). These are few and far between.Nice! I am definitely in if we want to get them together

Its my understanding that the LEDs will go on last, so you'd have to do all your modifications to springs/lube/stickers prior to it.
The picture LZ provided for the LED light up modes might give some inspiration for what looks good as well

Except for those people in far away lands it would be cheaper for you to lube your own switches and ship them back and forth. Lubing is a time intensive job, and just soldering is going to suck up my free and not-so-free time pretty savagely.

I don't know if the people in charge have thought of this, or what their plan was, but when you go to ship boards out, you might want to consider only sending PCBs and plates to Alaric. and sending the cases to their final recipients. Everyone should be able to handle putting the plate inside the case and screwing it shut on their own, so why not save mailing the heavy part once?
oh, you are driving them to him? nevermind then. If you were mailing them, it would probably have saved something like $15 per board to not send the case.

LZ incorporates the switch opening ability into pretty much every one of their Keyboards. And judging by the pictures in the OP it has been built into the plates of the LZ-GH.

IIRC these are hard anodized, so it's a lot tougher to recolor them

My (admittedly limited) understanding is that the resistors used need to match the LEDs, so if alaricljs solders the resistors for you, you need to make sure the LEDs you are planning to use have the right voltage/mA specs.
I thought the same thing about the shipping but as boost stayed, a single aluminum board from Korea is about $60 and this also includes the shipping within the US. I'm good with it.

Why would one do such a thing?
The large majority of that shipping is the Korean->US ship that you have to pay either way you get it from me.
To validate that the resistor values I chose work with the various LEDs. The LEDs have a specific window of voltage input for the high voltage (~3.2v) and the low (~2.1v) colors. I decided to use the fewest possible resistor values instead of 1 per LED color because at the low current allowance (3ma each LED) the difference in brightness did not merit the tiny differences in resistance.
Not wanting to just go on blind faith that I was right and the datasheets were right, I tested.
So, boost, are you saying that it cost you $1500-$2250 (varied because of unknown variable) to have the keyboards shipped to you? Because a rough estimate of shipping 90KG to USA from Korea seems to be around $575 or something like that. And domestic shipping without tracking for a keyboard shouldn't be more than, what, $16-$25 depending on size and weight?
Did you actually have to pay 50x$40 for the keyboards then? Because I'm pretty certain you don't pay that when shipping bigger packages.
And are we getting tracking on the package for $60?

Because unless those boxes weigh 3 times more than what I expect they do: 8 boxes = 6-7 boards a box. 1 board at 4 lbs makes each box a max of 28 lbs or 12.7 kg.
This makes each box shipped through EMS (via EMS rates page: http://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/sub/subpage.jsp?contId=e1020300) to region three 113,200 won. Multiply that times 8 to get 905,600 won or $810 (via XE.com).
If they used something more expensive, bully for them, but these half-answers are really not helping.
If they decided "Hey, we worked hard and deserve to be compensated for our time and effort", again, good for them, I have no problem with a business making money to pay employees.
But half answers and snarky quote posts don't help that go down smooth.
Boards had an estimated design weight of 5lbs (for just the case), and you need to factor in the weight of packaging materials as well. Also, shipping insurance.

I don't know if the people in charge have thought of this, or what their plan was, but when you go to ship boards out, you might want to consider only sending PCBs and plates to Alaric. and sending the cases to their final recipients. Everyone should be able to handle putting the plate inside the case and screwing it shut on their own, so why not save mailing the heavy part once?

I offered soldering services for this GB as a separate item. I am also supplying the stabs and the LEDs (and the tiny resistors for them).
"They" do not offer soldering, and "They" have not in the past offered switches.
My $35 was when the included PCB was an A.87 which supported only 2 signal LEDs. I added $15 for full LED install when the PCB got changed.

Curious, does anyone know for sure about the anodizing on the cases for the LZ-GH? Are they all hard anodizing? I've also heard that all of them are soft anodizing except for the grey ones. Can someone clarify this please?

Damnit, now I'm going to have to sell mine. The only reason I bought this keyboard was to use it as a home defense weapon, now you tell me it's too light without the bar and too off-balance with the bar?!?! I knew I should have gone with the Remington 870 instead! ;P

So I just ran out of resistors for the bright LEDs... I'll admit being a twit and not counting them before cutting them up. Soooo, here's the deal:
732Ohm are for blue/green/pink/white (label: 7320)
1.2kOhm are for red/orange/yellow (label: 1201)
If those of you with un-built boards could check when you receive them I have a feeling you got more resistors than necessary and should be fine. If you aren't let me know and I will ship out what you need.

It's not dependent on color, it's dependent on voltage. For the LEDs that I sent out the easiest way to differentiate is by color. For anyone supplying their own LEDs they need to do the calcs based on voltage.
And yes, that was a mistake re: 732Ohm for the lower voltage LEDs. My brain is stuck on brighter==bigger ## when that's not how it works.

your LED provides the diode forward voltage and current. 5v is the supply voltage and 3.4mA is the absolute max supply current per LED. I recommend aiming for 3.2mA

So far I have no information about it's assembly nor any info about the Korean Cherry Clears that were sent to him. Just need to ask questions and see if there are any answers (has been like dealing with your Pentagon, many questions but still no answers whatsoever).

People building these, don't forget to put your PCB mount stabilizers on the PCB before you start soldering on switches.Yeah, ya only ever do that once. I did it a few months ago. Fortunately caught it after 3 or 4 switchhes were soldered. Another best practice is to use a meter and verify every diode. I built a high quality korean board once only to find two diodes on backwards, was NOT happy.

Are you sure? It came with PCB mount, and when I tried to use my own plate mount the holes were too big and the stabilizers just wouldn't stay.

Unfortunately I was on my way out the door when the postman handed it over, so all I've been able to do is take it out the box and admire it - what a smooth shiny bottom!

I have a question, how do change the LED mode? I download the user manual and its all written in Korean.

Glissbro, I think the different LED modes are set to `+ (1-4). I downloaded the TRiK program to figure that out, but once I was in there, I didn't have to change anything to get that functionality on my board.
LED control should be whatever key the macro ("M" in TRiKer) is set to + 1/2/3/4 to cycle through the various LED modes - when my board arrived the "M" macro key was set to the "pause/break" key, so maybe try that (I was under the impression "pause/break" was the default key assigned to macro duty).
either tilde + 1-4 or Pause + 1-4 I've had both. Resetting the firmware (Esc while plugging it in) should make it Pause but will also break your keymap a little (modifiers will be wrong)
Does anyone have problems with LEDs not coming on at all, including capslock?
what is the default keymap for this thing? i'm trying to find out if my LEDs work
I intentionally picked LEDs with as close a voltage rating as possible. This way I can go with fewer different resistors. I ended up with 2 resistor values, 1.2k and 732 1/8watt. blue/green/pink/white are 3.2v LEDs and red/orange/yellow are 2v.

So I just ran out of resistors for the bright LEDs... I'll admit being a twit and not counting them before cutting them up. Soooo, here's the deal:
732Ohm are for blue/green/pink/white (label: 7320)
1.2kOhm are for red/orange/yellow (label: 1201)
If those of you with un-built boards could check when you receive them I have a feeling you got more resistors than necessary and should be fine. If you aren't let me know and I will ship out what you need.

732 Ohm =/= 7320 Ohm. I think it was just a typo on your part which got me confused. Those are for ~3-3.2V LEDs such as white, cyan, pink. The higher resistance value ones (~1200 Ohm) are for ~2V LEDs, such as green, yellow, red, amber, orange. For this PCB, you need SMD resistors. Try those label numbers on mouser.com.
P.S.: they don't need to be exact. You can use 820 Ohm smd (2012 label) for white/cyan. Higher resistance for the green.

All of the LZ-GH/keyboards/PCB/ect that alaric has will be sent to MKAWA. Once everything arrives to Ming he will create an inventory of what he has. I will then PM the users on if they would like to have it finished or ship back to them. There will be additional fees such as shipping from Alaric to Ming(split between the few of us), slight increase in soldering prices. Since Ming will be doing this it will be done on what his scheduled allows. I will be handling/relaying the info to Ming. Please DO NOT PM MKAWA(MING) as I will be the middle man.
