First GB, key step is not to wonder what I'll do with so many key sets and simply give in to the green on grey!

Updated the counts, and who ordered list.

Also Kravlin pretty much has it right on the vendor pack. Just to clarify though the vendor pack is a way to buy at group buy prices and get all the keys in one shot. Vendors participation in this is for publicity and traffic to their site, and also for them to purchase extras of what they pledge to sell on their site. It is possible that people may not want the vendor pack if it is too expensive, but will want to buy one or two keys. Some may also want just a vendor pack and not actually buy any other piece of the Toxic set. I tried to structure it in a way that it would benefit those who participate in the group buy, and the vendors as well.

EDIT: Just got permission from DanGWanG to include his "Green" 420 cap (both GX on TOX, and TOX on GX) in the vendor set. Get pumped!

Just ordered an extra set, and added some of the extras. Made a note of both orders and totals in the order form comment section.

Such a cool set. Really looking forward to it.

Original Order:  1x Base, 1x Mod, 1x Num Pad
This Order: 1x Base, 1x Mod, 1x Num Pad, 2x Winkeyless, 2x CapsLock, 2x Vendor

Grand Total of both orders: 2x Base, 2x Mod, 2x Num Pad, 2x Winkeyless, 2x CapsLock, 2x Vendor.

Thanks! :)

Does anyone else thing that keeping this buy open until March may cause problems?

First, in 3-4 months people may change their minds on what they want.  Second, at this point, the sets are not going to get a whole lot cheaper.

I am certainly in favor of leaving it open for enough time to let everyone in who wants in, but March seems like overkill.

I agree that March is a bit much.

Has anything been done to work with SP on formulating this new color?  That'll take some time in and of itself and some people (like myself) want to see a sample before ordering.  I prefer not to back out of things, so I wait til I'm sure.  Even if it was just a picture from Mel next to some color ring samples that should be good enough for a lot of people.

I agree that March is a bit long. From the OP it sounds like there are high hopes for Cherry font, so that might be why the target date is so far away.

+1 for seeing prototypes before ordering!

OMG, I thought I was the only one that thought March was CRAZY so I kept my mouth shut.  BTW what are we going to save, like $5 having more people sign up.  Lets get this done by mid January.  I think everyone that's already signed up would be happier.

Well if you all want it concluded sooner, then push the Cherry font controllers to start collecting pledges and get it done faster. It is all well and good that they want to be able to make keys to support more languages, but there is no point delaying 95% of the community in my opinion.

I don't think anyone is expecting this set to be done in Cherry font.  Besides, even after the cherry font is completed, they are not opening the legends to group buys until they complete the Dolch set.

I figured if they got GMK to run a dolch set then it would be essentially open season.

The feet dragging on the Cherry legends is just going to make someone else more motivated get it done in a reasonable time frame.

The fact that Sanctuary set has its own legends, and is already complete in a shorter time frame than the currently non-existent complete cherry legends speaks volumes.

Did a lot of people drop from R3 or R4? Everyone here signed up after reading the planned deadline. If they were not willing to wait until March why did they put in an order....
Sanctuary has been running since July 18th.
There are almost 100 unique orders and this hasn't even been open a week yet. People that want it will wait. If you are one of the impatient then this hobby may not be for you.

Maybe we can get the vendor set released early so everyone can see the Toxic color. I will also ask Melissa about the prototyping fees since I know Sanctuary had several phases of prototypes. It could even be possible to convince the Cherry controllers to use the Toxic set as a prototype set so that when it comes to Dolch everything will be refined and perfect.

This point has been made a million times, in a million different places. Why are people still assuming they can use the cherry legends?

Yes. Apparently you haven't kept up with either of those. Making a GB last that long, makes zero sense. You aren't going to get the cherry legends. Just run it the same as CCnG, RA2, etc legends. Patience or not, people do lose interest after a short time, and decide to put their dollars on something they can acquire sooner. That isn't a GB issue, that's just a human condition issue.

By all means this is daniel's decision to make, but I just wanted to make sure he understands that R4 was a disaster because it lasted so long.  There were lots of people that dropped out (myself included) because of the timeline and as a result the prices got jacked up in the end.

From my experience in the 10+ group buys that I have run is 90% of the orders come in the first week or two and after that it drops of significantly.  I understand leaving it open if there is a significant price break to shoot for, but where we already are with these MOQs 50/100 more sets will only bank us a buck or two.

They are referring to the cherry adopt-a-legend project, which has been placed on hold indefinitely. They placed it on hold because of GMK. So, firstly, this GB couldn't use those legends until the set they planned to use first was ran, which would extend this out farther than March. It really isn't feasible to assume this GB can use the cherry legends in a reasonable amount of time.

That's true - it's his GB. But it's also true that the people advising him on this, have ran several GB's, and have quite a bit more experience. And I think daniel should take their advice to heart.

^Agreed

I couldn't have said it better myself, human condition really sums it up.  There are other sets coming out like RA2 that others will jump on if this one doesn't get done in time.  I'm personally signed up for both, just saying.

Daniel,
In the end, we all know this is your decision, and I'm sure we all respect that. Have you considered taking a poll?  that will tell you right away what people want.  I know I signed up for the March time frame, but only because their was no other option/date/choice given.  That is also the reason I kept searching for other sets that will be coming out sooner.  As cool as your set is, whether you're on hold, in a line, etc, ..... waiting sucks!
