just an FYI.

if you keep this open until march. and the GMK ends up happening (who knows how long that will take tho), it's going to eat away at the people wanting to buy this since they rather spend their money on cherry stuff than SP stuff.

so, as others have said, i'd close this up sooner while people still havent had a chance to spend their money elsewhere.

When I started the interest check for this set November 10th I didn't know anything about GMK, and supposedly the Cherry legends have been going through prototyping and rumor was, would be ready around Jaunuary-February time frame. Now I guess with GMK on the scene with supposedly 300+ minimum order quantities there was more talk to just go ahead and get the Cherry legends through Signature Plastics complete. It should be possible if Sanctuary can get an entire set of new legends done in 2-3 months for us to get Cherry legends done in time when they have already started prototyping, AND a lot of them are already finished because of moogle kits.

If it is supposed to be by the community, for the community we should take off the breaks and get the money collected, and the legends finished.

I guess if it has to be WYSE font then so be it, but I think we can all agree that Cherry legends would simply look a heck of a lot better. Towards the end of January we can assess the situation again and consider ending early.

(who knows how long that will take tho)

Sorry had to chime in here.  GMK is currently already producing full sets and other communities like KBD is starting to their own thing soon.  A fair assumption is you'll really begin to start seeing GMK stuff Jan-Feb.  I mean this is already on the market:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/251200300507?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Won't be long before full sets start appearing randomly...

Hashbaz will need to chime in as to when or if the cherry legend project will be completed. And even then, as he has stated, you cannot simply use them. YOu need to wait for the dolch replica GB to run it's course first.

And that's if people even still want a replica Dolch GB, when they can have the real thing from GMK. No point in dumping more money into the replica project if they are going to kill it with real cherry sets.

The legends will for sure be available for running GBs with, by anyone from any forum.  We decided early on against making it more broadly available in say a font file or as raw SVGs, but it's possible that we should reconsider in light of GMK resuming Cherry 2-shot production.
Are you sure this stipulation on dolch first, then free reign on the legends is in effect? I don't see why multiple group buys can't use it at the same time. No one previously has stated to not run a group buy because of another group buy. People are adults and know how to manage their own money. Part of why I wanted to run this for so long was so people could save up and there would be no surprises of other buys interfering.

Thanks! :)

Yea that Cherry "AE" color on one of their grey colors would be pretty spectacular. Also what if SP gets PBT doubleshots done around February/March? Wouldn't that be exciting and worth the wait?

^^ This is a recipe for disappointment and order cancellations (and new orders too, not trying to be a ****).

Step 1: define your product in terms of what is available immediately or easily planned for (like that new color).
Step 2: run the GB in as timely a fashion as possible
Step 3: enjoy the results of your hard labor...
Step 4: do it all over again when there's something new and exciting (or just because!)  this is where you get to do step 1 all over again and make changes to entice repeat buyers.

If we went SP, I'd be prefer PBT.

If we go GMK, we need to know order requirements

I'll be buying a set... sooner, or later... Whenever you decide.

I would likely buy a 'TOX2' set (GMK, Cherry replicas, double shot PBT, ??) too!  =)

Personally, I love SP's double shot ABS with WYSE legends. But that's just my opinion. Obviously you should run your own GB however you want, Daniel. I would just advise not to get too hung up on waiting for either GMK or the Cherry legend project. If you take too long, you'll know it, because people will start to drop out. Like i3oilermaker said, after the first few weeks, a few more orders may trickle in, but the returns are diminishing at that point. Just wrap it up whenever orders stop coming in, and you feel like everyone is good with that.

Sooner or later I'd buy this set. Regardless of manufacturer or font. Although who knows if I'll still be into keyboards in 6 months.
Do what you want Daniel, I'll follow. But the voice of the community should matter as well.

I have had several people thank me for ending it later because of the holidays, maybe March is too far out. I think initially I wanted everyone to get their sets by St. Patrick's day :p

If we start collecting money in the start of February we can submit the order shortly after that. There can always be Toxic 2.0 with Cherry legends, or maybe the Orange on Charcoal set...

I am very excited for this set and I would love to get it sooner rather than later. But of course it's your group buy and you should run it the way you want it. I won't be cancelling my order if it ends in March but I'd prefer it to end sooner for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, thank you already for your hard work.

LOL you guys crack me up with all this "March is too late" nonsense. Too late for what? Do you plan on being done with mechanical keyboards by March? LOL Jesus, the dates were spelled out in the OP, if you don't like it, don't participate, it's that simple. Jesus...people on the internet need to learn some damn patience. It's a gorgeous set and I'm just waiting for finalized colors before signing on the dotted line. I definitely want this set as bad as the rest of you, but I also want it to be DONE RIGHT. There's nothing worse than rushing an exciting set through to appease a bunch of impatient people only to find out there are flaws and mistakes that could have been caught if more time was taken for prototypes.

Ha, if you have this big of a problem with impatience then you should shut off your computer and cancel your internet.  Imagine amazon with a 3+ month wait time, and by now, I hope you're imagining them out of business, because that is the world we live in.  Do you REALLY think it takes 3 months to iron out the wrinkles in a set of keycaps?  Just look at page one.  Daniel has this thing pretty squared away already.

It's not a problem with patience to make the set perfect. The concern is people wanting normal sp caps. Or waiting for Cherry replica or GMK. Which are both TBD if even possible for this set.

LOL You beat me to it, hash. :) Exactly, this isn't Amazon, this is a public forum of keyboard enthusiasts. If you expect this to run like Amazon, then you might want to leave now because only rage and disappointment lie ahead for you. If, on the other hand, you want custom goodies that you can't get elsewhere, then you are in the right place. Think of the forum more as an old-world cobbler than a Nike sweatshop and you'll be just fine. ;)

This place isn't like amazon.... no kidding?

I'm well aware of that.  I was making an analogy to the patients people have in the age of internet.

For those of you that didn't understand the making of an analogy.  I also want to point out that I was being sarcastic when I said "This place isn't like amazon.... no kidding?".  Just to avoid confusion.

What is the likelihood of this GB being doubleshot PBTs from SP? Has there been any communication with SP about the feasibility since they released those arrow key sets?

They're still working on developing and deciding whether PBT DS is feasible for them.  The arrows are a pretty simple legend, they need to be able to shoot @#%&* and other complicated stuff consistently before they'd consider full-set production.

What is the likelihood of this GB being doubleshot PBTs from SP? Has there been any communication with SP about the feasibility since they released those arrow key sets?
It isn't very likely to happen for awhile so I removed it from the original post.

Will they be dyesub PBT?
