If someone guesses what this cable is for...
« on: Mon, 05 May 2014, 20:08:39 »
They get a free cable of their choice.  Any sleeving, any ends, on me.

I'll give all non former D-Squadders a week starting now - http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20140512T0810&p0=875&msg=Cable+guess&csz=1&swk=1

That took less time than I anticipated.  Bueller got it right and will get a cool cable out of it

I've got five, but that's not what this is.  It's a bit of a trick.

When the count down is over, I'll put a picture of what it went in up.

USB to Serial TTL?

Edit:  For something like an Arduino. It looks like it could be your standard Molex 5 pin like a Filco uses, but you said it's a bit of a trick, so...

Model M cable.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Changed my mind after looking a your "Today's Work" thread. It's for a keyboard that has native USB support, but I don't know which one.

USB cable with a 4 pin power controller. I'm going to guess it charges a portable amp.

I was thinking it could be for some Arduino based amp, but didn't know if those existed.

Looks like an internal mouse connector to me, seen them in several of the Microsoft Trackballs.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

The header plug end is not focused enough to identify.

I think that's intentional.

It isn't a slimblade, but it is a mouse.  Looks like bueller got that part right first. PM me with what you want.
