Introducing...
« on: Fri, 21 December 2012, 03:50:09 »
Hello all,

I don't think I made an introduction topic yet, even though I've been lurking for a while. In any case, I really like this website. I am mainly here to check out all those awesome keycaps and the keyboards you put them on.

I have had a Daskeyboard (UK Layout, Blank Keycaps with Cherry MX Blue) for a while. Great keyboard but it's too loud to use in an office environment, so it's on the shelf for now.
My second recent mechanical keyboard was a Noppoo Choc Mini with Cherry MX Browns. Great feel to type on and not as loud as the MX Blue switches. The build quality isn't that great though so that's why I kept looking for another keyboard.
Which is the Filco TKL with Cherry MX Browns. I really like the build quality and the layout but the keycaps are horrible with printed legends in a weird font..

So I guess I will have to participate in some GB's for keycap sets and a custom keyboard (Phantom) which is why I signed up mostly. Hoping to contribute in a positive way to this awesome community.

Cheers

Welcome to Geekhack!

Although there is nothing wrong with your first two choices, a Filco is a good, solid, reliable choice for a third :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
