because you might have to cut your arm/leg off if you get trapped under a log/rock like that one guy in that movie based on real life.

But i don't often get trapped under my pc :p
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

I'm just curious about all USA users carrying knifes around

I don't understand why you would need to carry one around your town/city.

I had one but i couldnt find refills anywhere

also I can lend the normal kind out and care much less if they dont come back cause you could buy the 2 normal ones for a stainless one last time I checked which was probably at least a good 6 months ago. And no i never lend pens or pencils out thats why I only have one.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I use my knife as a tool.  Great to have at all times.  Not as much considered a weapon.

That's a knife!

And the funny thing is that in Australia it's illegal to carry a knife outside of the home, whether concealed or not. So everyone in this thread carrying knives is a really foreign idea to me.

On me at all times (might take pics later):

iPhone 5
Fossil ML2160 Carson Traveler Wallet (Brown Leather)
Fossil DE5009 Watch
Ray Ban Original Wayfarer (Black)
2 x Keys - Car & House

I travel pretty light unless I'm going to uni, in which case I'd also take:

River Island Brown Satchel
Macbook Pro 13"
Lecture Pad
Pen/Pencil Case

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

Car key/clicker, office key, mail key, house key on one keyring, left pocket.

iPhone 4S w/ wallet case, holding my ID and bank card, right pocket.

That's it. I go lightweight.

After all the comments about knives, I'm surprised one of you Brits didn't have anything to say about this:

You can't get it here in the US. I had to order it online from a place called London's Bathecary.

Knives are really useful tools for all sorts of things... i don't think many people carry them for defense and if they do, they either probably don't need it or are going to get stabbed with their own knife trying to **** with someone. knife fighting is not for the untrained, kids!

Oh also didn't even think about my watch. usually sporting a $10 black casio analog with a white face. looks better than 90% of other cheap watches that try to look fancy and doesn't matter if I lose it or something :)

Here we go...
Lets see here...
Backpack: $15 Vans from a Zumiez clearance rack. (I think it's a chick bag, but it works, its red, and I like it)
TI-nSpire CX
Bose OE2 Headphones
Dixon Ticonderoga Yellow Pencils
My "master notebook"- I keep notes from everything in it.
Lockpicks (You never know. I use them all the time when I forget the key to my locker.)
8GB Flash Drive

Pockets:
Samsung dumb phone (Parents don't want to pay for me to get data)
Nexus 7 (Rooted, CM10/Evervolv. Of course)
HTC Evo 4G (Seldom, since I got my Nexus 7, the Evo 4G seems slow as dirt. Either way, a nice media player and navigation for when I need it.)
Wallet (Sometimes, I seldom drive, and even seldom need money in my setting, thus less to worry about getting stolen)

I got the a set from DealXtreme. The pick in my EDC is the most useful of the pics (I think). Took me about 15-30 minutes to figure out how to pick my crappy lock, takes me a bit longer to crack a Master Lock.

I don't carry it to school typically (unless its the summer, when I work there). I typically grab it on the weekends though.

ah, i see.

i'd invest in a better blade tho, unless you don't use it much. i tend to go through them quite a lot and that's using them for their intended purpose (drywall).

I use Harbor Freight blades in mine. I use it constantly. It works, flick of the wrist and it's deployed. Works for me, and cutting my hand. (Healed now, but I had to have it glued back together. They would have stitched it back together, but I went pale when they mentioned novocaine injections into my hand.)

They're not so bad. I was a stupid teenager and punched a beer bottle, had to get a bunch of stitches on my knuckles. Just stings a bit and then everything goes numb.
