a little trouble with topre keyboard
« on: Tue, 17 March 2015, 11:46:20 »
I bought a hhkb for about 3 month, the thing is the board that doesnt have a smooth typing at all. So i decided to lube it, and mine is the normal version.
I tended to use:
- a mixture of krytox 103 and 205 for the slider, 50-50.
- victorinox oil for the spring
- super lube synthetic grease for that stabilisers.
Any recommendation? I want to optimize the feeling and the thock thock sound also.
The krytox 103 seems hard to find, which one should be chosen to replace it? Thanks, sorry for my bad english.

Don't lube the spring.  Just do Krytox on the sliders and Mechlube or Superlube on the stabilizers.

You might also consider doing one of the permutations of the silent mod as well.

Welcome to Geekhack!

I'm wondering whether the keyboard just needs to be broken in a bit.  My HHKB is just over 4 years old, and it is as smooth as butter :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
