1. Get the white HHKB Silent I just ordered in.
2. Find out which I like better, white HHKB (already own) or white HHKB Silent. Keep the one I like, return or sell the other.
3. Harvest 55g domes from my white 55g RF 87U and put in HHKB... in HHKB Silent hopefully.
4. Use 45g domes replaced from HHKB plus 45g domes from my white RF 104U Silent to make a full 45g white RF 87U. Sell it.
5. Buy a black 55g RF 87U when back in stock at EK. Use purple sliders from RF 104U to make it silent. Switch black RF 87U keys with white RF 104U keys.

Hopefully I will end up with a white 55g HHKB Silent and a black RF 87U Silent with white/grey keys.

And lastly, probably do some consolidation of other things I own.

I just received my HHKB Type-S and it's the best thing on this planet. I'll buy a black one in the future too and then find artisans for both of them, not really sure what I want in specifics now however.

1. Join the next Planck drop / buy from olkb / mechmarket (I haven't decided yet, but I'm willing to wait for the Planck drop on July)
2. Pretty much pimp up my Planck once I get it and my MF68 along the road.
3. Let's Split

I hope I won't crave for something smaller once I do get my Planck. The idea of a 30% is crazy to me, but that's what I originally said about the Planck back then when I first started this hobby and here I am wanting every bit of it.

Sell everything I don't use so I can have money to build a TKL custom probably.

Write up details of all the things I've done to my Mini.

Going well so far, gotta get that sale going. Think the Moon is going to be my TKL :)

Lets see:
Build my Banana Split 60 with GMK Plum, which I may or may not switch to Miami Dolch when that ships.

Next would be to try and figure out what to build my girlfriend.  Probably an XD60 so she can have arrow keys.  Not sure what caps would go on that though.  Maybe some DSA's from PMK if I can't get my hands on a nice set for her that I'm willing to not have for myself lol.

I need a 75% I've decided. So I'll start planning that out.

Then a 96 would be cool  Lightsaver V3 being ideal but I just blew too much on Miami Dolch so that's not a reality.

My ideal board would be some poker / hhkb fusion (normal 60% layout with decent topre switches), and my plan is to wait for it.

I've always wished there would be an official topre made 60% with normal, or poker style layout.

I just don't like the hhkb layout.

For me, the deal breaker is the missing bottom row keys. On 60% board it just feels so wrong.

1. build my first customized keyboard with non-standard layout.
2. playing with the dual concentric rotary encoder and see what is the possible use case.
3. keyboard firmware for STM32.
4. improve the design for the second non-standard layout.

Build my first custom board using alps switches. Already harvested, cleaned and click modded all of them (cream).
1. The plan is to handwire, hand build a wood+acrylic case, backlighting, and a split alps60 layout (like the VE.A).
2. Then try to acquire a good keyset.
3. Hunt for more interesting alps
4. Build a Wireless Let's Split (like the Mitosis) using the more interesting alps.
5. Find a keyset for that.

I think 1/2 will take most of the year though and the rest depend on the wallet

I just got a battleship F-122.  My plans are:

1) Order some reproduction flippers and springs from https://www.modelfkeyboards.com/.  At least enough to redo the alpha keys, directional arrows, and space bar.  This keyboard was in constant mainframe use between September of 1984 and May of 2017, and that's long enough to put wear even on a battleship Model F.

2) Take apart the F-122, refoam, replace most worn switches, make it slightly more ANSI friendly (I want my big left shift back at least) and hopefully get the whole thing back together again.

3) Come up with some keyboard layouts to put together using Soarer's Converter.

Interesting. Any story behind why its use was discontinued (or why it was used so long in the first place)?
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

All I got from the seller is that it was hooked to a 3180 dumb terminal connected to an IBM AS/400 (or iSeries) and that the server was taken offline a week before I purchased the board.  The seller was also contacted by museums interested in buying the entire AS/400, but he only had the terminal and keyboard.*

As a software consultant who sometimes has to work with iSeries / AS/400 clients, I can tell you that it's not uncommon for mid-sized corporations to still use ancient IBM mainframes with 30+ year old legacy code running their back end ERPs.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?  What's much less common, though plausible, is actually running a bonafide dumb terminal connected to one for that long.  I've personally never seen a client not use emulation to access an AS/400 (provided essentially free by IBM,) but they must exist considering that I got one of their keyboards :).

* I actually bought the keyboard with the entire 3180 terminal setup.  It was listed cheaper than any other F-122 on ebay at the time, and I can just relist the parts I don't intend to use to make some of my money back.  Win-win.

Cool, thanks for the info. I worked at a company that still used AS/400 (at least as of 2011), but it was emulated on Windows XP; I didn't know anyone still used the old hardware either! I never had to deal with AS/400, so I'm not really familiar with it or what exactly it was used for there however. The only issue I remember was somehow one of the shortcuts got overridden so the users couldn't use some functionality (maybe to access one of the F13+ keys?), and it was a big deal.
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.

My plans are to build my first board. I have some soldering skills, so that shouldn't be much of an issue, but I feel like there's a lot to learn before taking the plunge

1) Get a 55g REALFORCE and finally find out if it genuinely will complete my existence
2) Enjoy my recent MX milk white TKL Ducky acquisition - whilst wishing the previous owner hadn't been the Marlboro man.......
3) Patiently wait for my Type K to arrive - whilst constantly wondering if I chose right with my Halo choice
4) Get a REALFORCE RGB and wish it had 55g's (according to outcome of aforementioned findings)
5) Aquire lots more SA sets
6) Put a switch tester together
7) Find the conviction, courage and ability to swap the REALFORCE RGB to 55g domes (subject to points one & four)
8) Pray for someone to rerun SA Retro
9) Try a buckling spring board
10) Strike up a mutually beneficial relationship with UK border control
11) Harness my inner Chi and resist buying any more GMK sets

Skip straight to number 9, and it will save you some time :)

Vintage Model Ms come in ISO variants, which aren't too hard to find. I believe all Terminal Model Ms and Fs are ISO too. I don't think Unicomp makes ISO layout though, so you'll probably have to get something vintage. I haven't tried anything BS outside of the standard Model M 101 key (I have two 1989s and gave my brother a 1995). I did try a Unicomp 104 key that was pretty terrible, but it was probably a lemon. Each Model M feels a little different, but the older ones tend to feel better because of thicker materials.

Part No. 1391401 is the "standard" Model M, but I'm not sure if the part no. changes for ISO. Don't pay more than $60 though. IMO, a good buckling spring is hard to beat.

I want to get a NovaTouch (already have the connection to purchase one), and also I want SA Dancer to actually arrive this year lol.

Then combine the two, and BAM, endgame.

Novatouch is a nice board IMO, not as good as a genuine RF Topre, but a much more
versatile offering. TBH though, its best to forget about MD's after you've paid - then
It's a great surprise when they finally ship !!
