As I have learned from the wise 3love and other elders, step 4 always matters, there's no such thing as too much.  Step 5 is always optional and sometimes coincides with Step 2.

That's because you're doing it wrong. The only step you're allowed to skip is 5.

You must be aggressive, and no self respecting Clack owner will sell to the first person to ask because they are testing your tenacity and how badly you want the Clack, so no less than 3 PM should be sent.

Well I'm not poor, but I'm not rich, so I guess I'll skip right to step five. It's worked pretty well so far. You could add another option step which is watch spy as much as possible.

I'll try harder to reach step two though, but if I achieve step two I'll either be too busy perpetuating it or negating it with hookers and cocaine and caps will be a distant memory.

It can be tough, but with my patented 5 step process, it becomes dramatically simpler.

Here's a preview of Step 1:

Step 1:
Have a life crisis.  This can be real or imagined, vague or specific, as long as it compels sympathy.  When you start your sale, always emphasize that something is happening in your life.  It could be you wrecked your motorcycle, need money for school because your parents disowned you, your special needs half niece you adopted when her mom was sent to prison and dad was killed needs money to help treat her terminal bovine cancer, and so on.  The sadder and depressing it is or the more dramatic you can make the situation appear, the better.
