Down for 2, can't wait!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I just want another like the K-Mini with the function keys on the left.  Or a reversed tenkeyless.  I'd love to be able to keep my hand on the mouse and hit the arrow keys, print screen, delete, and so on.

Thinking of some of the data entry I do, it would be easier to use the ten key with my left hand and keep my right hand on the mouse...or I think it would anyways!

Lots of trials and Error in our keyboard history.  I am interested too.  Left Num Pad or Function column, or anything.

So I'd like to show it soon ; Both OK for Left and Right! - PCB.  and...  A Versatile Single Case !

....

At this Moment, I want to tell My Design Concept Officially.        (Oct.29 )   http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=49899.0

100% Interchangeable,   100% Interoperable,   100% Mix n Match !

All 60% will do.  All 75% will do.  All 87% and 100% will do.

All Poly models will  'Mix n Match' with Metallic models.  As They Share All the Basic Designs.  ....

So What?   What We want all through This??    =  Maximum Free Joy of Typing !     IMHO

I did some data entry before and actually found myself doing a lot more right hand tenkey and left hand keyboard shortcuts, no use of the mouse at all.  I just couldn't keep my speed up left handed like I could right handed.  But this is off topic.  Those boards look awesome.  I want all of the, but I think my wallet will only allow one, maybe two 60% boards.  Here's hoping the Alps board doesn't come for another couple of months.

the 60% appears to be half-way to MOQ already. Not bad, guys.

And I forgot to ask.  Is the PCB going to be green or will it be a different color?  I know I'd like a little more visually appealing color, but green would be fine if that's what it is.

Hi guys,

I'm confused: is this pcb indeed compatible with alps switches ?
The pictures suggest that Alps switches will fit, but the rows will be positioned a bit lower on the board, is that correct ?

ciao,

J.

There will be another group buy soon for ALPS board.

Does this require soldering in the switches? New to custom boards and mechanical keyboards in general.

Normally a PCB group buy would require also: a microcontroller (the Teensy 2.0 is popular around here)
SMD soldering, or through-hole diodes ... one per switch -- except here that will be done already
switches -- yes, you'll need to source, then solder the Cherry MX switches yourself (be creative! Have the home row keys be green then switch to Dark Gray for the Function row, with Whites everywhere else. Or, you know, don't. Just use browns, like all the other unimaginative folks here*)
keycaps -- this is the part your fingers actually hit, and if you're not using blanks, this is the part that has 'legends' ... IE, letters or other symbols. If you have blanks, this is the part your coworkers will stare at and say "How do you tell what letters you're typing?!?"

HTH,
      the alaskan malamute.

Edit: You'll wish for a case, too. Mind you you'd have a working keyboard once the microcontroller has been filled with suitable firmware ... but it really isn't a keyboard until the PCB has a home.
Spirit happens to be running a GB for acrylic cases that will match these PCBs! What luck!

edit2: you might wish for a plate. It would sit between the switches and the PCB, so you'll really need to decide about that before you solder anything. It will also affect which switches you buy, since the housing is slightly different between the two forms -- PCB mount, or plate mount.

*: oh crap please don't do this. Not unless you know what I just said and actually want to do that.

Thanks for the informative post. Does anyone know if spirit will be having plates? If not how to get them?

He has mentioned plates. I think the last time I looked it was a little unclear if he'd be expanding his case GB to also offer plates, or if he was going to start another GB for just the plates that would match his acrylic cases.

There are periodically other places to get plates too, but it's not often a 'store item' so you sorta have to go with the GBs. Although for the 60%, GON (of GONskeyboardworks fame) has an anodized aluminum plate that's Poker compatible. $40, IIRC.

my question was avoided or missed out? :(

question: since all resistors are presoldered, will having mix of different voltage LEDs be safe?

A tweak will show for the resistors for LEDs,  Sir!
Last nite  I was utterly exhausted...  I should have answered this Ultimum Question !  Alas!

no worries and thanks for answering! :)
so meaning we'll have to change the resistors ourselves if there is different mix of led voltage?
