Post by: LollyWater on Wed, 28 November 2012, 18:42:46

Unicomp will do a fairly high level of customization by request, though not as extreme on the keycaps. However, Unicomp can and will do an entirely custom layout (using standard Set2 scancodes) if that's what you want as well. So if you want F12 to F1, they can do it.
Remember that Unicomp builds the keyboards and controllers, whereas WASD is doing nothing more than badging the base reference Costar CST-104.

I think LollyWater is looking for applications to plan the layout of your keyboard as opposed to manufacturers (correct me if I'm wrong). Also note Unicomp does Buckling Springs, not Cherry MX.

Someone was working on an application to visualise keycap customisations, but I can't seem to find the thread now.

Do you mean KBHack (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36013.0)? Well, OP will surely deliver source...

TheProfosist is always posting his custom keyboard layouts. Not sure where he got those templates from, though.

WASD. He typically has a few photoshoppers around make the layouts, IIRC.

Night Hawk has a version but is very expensive. I heard somone got  it for only 150. you get custom lighting and a selection of at least 3 switch types.

I've been working on his last few actually, willing to work for others as well!

SmallFry its not photoshop its Illistrator :P

But yea dc is the one that has been helping me. I make crappy looking layouts with a different layer in each pic using photoshop and dc does his magic and mashes it up into something presentable that WASD and possibly others (imsto, qtan) can use.
