When I had hellocodes poker, I tried lubed clears. I didn't like it nearly as much as ergo clears. However I also tried ApocalypseMaow lubed browns, I think I might light browns again

Hmm... Is it hard to clean off lube if you don't like it?

Well, I mess up one of my poker plates so I use it to test switches. One switch this lube, the other that lube..... and then see which one I like the most. Then I ran with it.

So, here we have it. My first actual mod of sorts. I recently purchased some Clears, and once I received them today, decided to drop them in my Poker with Blues. I chose to go with Clears first, to see how I like them. Then, I will try different variations of Ergo Clears with different springs. After I make my decision on which I like best, I will sticker and lube. But on to the pictures!

Try Panda Clears (with black springs) - those feel great, like stiffer browns.
Regular Clears just make me bounce off the keyboard, can't take those seriously.

Thanks, everyone. So far, I like the Clears, but I can see what people say when they say that they almost feel linear, like the bump is hardly there, even though it's bigger then Browns. I will swap them out tonight and put the Blue springs back in.

The only thing that worries me is how tight these caps are on the stems. Last night, I put one on wrong, and had to pull it off. When doing so, the whole switch top came off! Lucky that the stem didn't break off. I managed to get the stem and housing out, but I'm worried that might happen to more, or worse.

yep. happened to me when i was using clear stems and decided not to use them again. its just scary for me. =.=

^They are awesome. I can only imagine how much it must suck to pop them out with screwdrivers or something. Just slide 'em in, squeeze, and remove.

This^ Switch removal tools plus WFD's dremel mod to my switch tops w/ LED means I can change my board to any switch/spring easily and quickly.

PS - esoomenona, I have some black springs in case you'd like to try panda-clears.

^Dremel mod? Also, PM incoming.

Haha yes, you will definitely need one of those :)

I did the same thing with a regular wire cutter thing (don't really know what they're called, but some kind of smaller wire cutter), and it works great, so I wouldn't buy a dremel only for this. (Dremels are rather useful for other stuff though, so might be worth a buy anyways.)
Since I don't have any of those fancy switch openers I have to bend the LED forward a bit before opening the switch, but that works just as fine. :>

Nice springs and caps!! Are they 62g like mine? :)

Edit - Which set of RGB are those red and blue caps from? Sherryton?

The springs are from stock Blue switches. I will try 62g and 65g next. And yes, the caps and RGB are from Sherryton.

Whaaaaaaaat? Stock Blue switches have gold springs?

They're not gold. They're more silvery brassyish.

Thanks, I see that now and blame my SGNote2's over saturated screen when I looked before.

I wish I had custom caps to make my poker with new case look good.  I just have these boring stock ABS things.

Nevermind that I'm waiting on four separate GB sets, at least two of which will be here before summer, if not all four.

I'm waiting on two GB sets right now. One of which has shipped, the other I was would ship already.

I got a poker simply for Retro (I'm assuming that's what you want to ship already).  Hell, I got this case because retro + poker + silver case looked fantastic.

It's just in the meantime that's the problem, heh.  I mean, I guess I could unicorn it up a bit...

More randomness.  I went to make my own "here be my keyboards" thread, then realized I don't have a camera that takes good enough pictures to do something like this.  Soon though.

Alright. So I haven't touched my Poker since I borked the  spacebar switch. Just really haven't had the time. BUT...

I did finally receive the Ragnorock 10 key set that I've been searching for. And now that I have my Phantom up and running, it's time to carefully consider where to go from here. This is a picture of what I've been considering doing. The Insert key won't be Insert, but rather Delete. I think it's a good position for it. I'd like the Num Lock key to switch between Arrow mode and Numpad mode. Also, of course I won't be able to fit that big + there, so I'll probably use the red Cherry key under it for +.

The most noticeable thing would be the sound it makes. It is ever so slightly different. Most people wouldnt notice.

I'd rather believe that different batches of springs are different.

I could check again whenever I get a scale.
Im pretty sure some korean guy tested it already.
Ripster compared the switches from misterinterfaces switch tour. It can be found on reddit. http://imgur.com/a/RJqM4#0
I tried ghetto reds. Alongside reds in the WASD tour. I along with the others in DT seem to find similar results. We find a difference but it is hard to describe. I thought it could have been the stem but it seems to be the springs thst make the slight difference.

As davkol mentioned, all of that could still be explained by different batches of springs. You'd have to test something like five or ten different branded boards with reds against five or ten different branded boards with ghetto reds for me to believe it.

Edit - What was meant above is that I can't accept that there is definitely some difference or no difference between them without more empirical evidence/data. Subjective sensations, coupled with low numbers of tested springs doesn't help enough, but I do appreciate hearing your opinion :)
