IBM Model M Terminal "120"

After mapping my 122 key terminal keyboard to my liking using Soarer's newest firmware for the Teensy converter http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:17458&viewfull=1&page=36&do=comments#post544056, I decided to make the physical keyboard match the mapped keys.  I have a blue label 1391401 that's gathering dust in my closet, so I swapped most of the keycaps along with both shift keys, the "+"  and enter keys on the number pad along with their respective stabilizer insert over to the terminal keyboard.  Kind of a pain because I had to open up the terminal board again (bolt modded) and remove the two hammers that were in the way of the left shift and the "+" key stabilizer inserts.  So now I have a 120 key terminal keyboard that mimic a regular model M.  In addition, I have the windows and the menu keys mapped to the bottom 2 left functions keys.  Also, I got a host of media keys mapped to the upper row of the function keys as evidenced by my crummy sticky labels.  Not much of a mod, but this makes the terminal keyboard that much easier to use.

I've been wanting to do that too! My 122 is just collecting dust at the moment.

I never liked the vertical enter key (field exit).  After popping off the key, I tapped rubber mat in the upper empty barrel, and lo and behold, it registered as the back slash key on hidlisten.  After a quick visit to the Unicomp website, I got a full set of keys and did the full ANSI mod.  I had to take apart the keyboard again to move the hammer from the previous back slash key left of the field exit key to the ANSI position above the Enter key.  I also got a hold of an extra stabilizer insert for the horizontal Enter key.

I do truly think the 122 is the best F for anyone to start with due to the flexibility in layout customization that can be achieved...nevermind the often reasonable prices.

Nice work on the M. Both of my 122 Ms are in dire need of bolt modding and I just can't be bothered, apparently (especially since I'm buried in assorted Model Fs now)
