Eating one of the major meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) should be absolutely forbidden at the keyboard. I am disgusted by people who have that habit at work. You absolutely don't leave plates on your desk afterwards with leftovers of something that smells (shrimp, microwaved meat, ketchup, vinegar, mayonnaise, etc.) !

Snacks that isn't sticky is OK. Coffee (coder-fuel) is encouraged.

I am a bit of a clean freak with computer stuff, I generally wash my hands before sitting down at the computer and if I feel my hands are getting sweaty. I do eat by the computer sometimes, I used to eat pizza or whatever near the computer, but that was usually while watching something and keeping the food and plate away from the keyboard. After I moved I've only done it once, I had a bowl of rice that I put between the two halves of my edox.

As for drinking at the computer; I do that a lot, but I am very careful and glasses of soda stay away from the desk, since the fizz tends to send a fine mist of sticky soda flying out. Cans and bottles are fine.

Just keep a small nightstand, or swivel arm table next/attached to your desk and a hand towel for wiping. The only issue I ever have is when I smoke a cigar sometimes ash drops on my boards, never food stuff though.

I sometimes eat at my computer. I know I shouldn't, but I do. But not soup or anything that splashes or spills. As far as drinking goes I have a small shelf under my desk intended for a computer tower but since I have an iMac it's empty and that's where my glass/bottle goes. NEVER at keyboard level. And if I see anyone putting a drink on my desk I give them **** and tell them exactly how much money they would owe me if they spilled on my LZ-GH. By brother is BAD for that.

I rarely eat at my computer.

When I do, I'm not too concerned. My keyboard and mouse are about 1.5 to 2 feet in front of me.

I type and game with the keyboard and mouse near the back of my desk.

It looks weird but is the most comfortable.

Does your keyboard tray have room for a mouse on it too? I always hated keyboard trays since I would always have to put the mouse someplace else on the table, usually in an uncomfortable position.

Not Name brand 'Murican Hotdogs..  Nathans for example..

It's not meat in the sense of "muscle meat" , it's only around 10-15% muscle, the rest is trimmings.

But it's still technically all animal parts..

There are perfectly fine vegetarian hot dogs around.

Not Name brand 'Murican Hotdogs..  Nathans for example..

It's not meat in the sense of "muscle meat" , it's only around 10-15% muscle, the rest is trimmings.

But it's still technically all animal parts..

I have just finished eating a ham sandwich at my computer.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

In asia, they give you these little plastic gloves to eat chicken with.

But that's really dumb,  because, they're actually so thin, the oil soaks through the damn gloves anyway..

So what was the point..

I used to eat potato chips with chopsticks in front of my computer.  But my doctor criticised by diet so I stopped.  I still have the chopsticks.

I'll eat at the computer fairly regularly. But... I HAVE to use chopsticks. Cheetos .. chopsticks. Pizza .. cut it up and use chopsticks. Can't get any grease or cheese on my fingers before I type.

Also... I vote microsoftwindows should keep digging up his old threads. It's a blast from the recent past.

Yeah I do it, but I always watch some video so I don't touch the mouse/keyboard at all.
x2. As long as I am not eating something too messy, I'll put on an interesting YouTube video. If it is something messy (or smelly), I eat it away from my desk.

U can't wash away the fapp residue unfortunately.. It's always going to be present .. your space is 100% already contaminated..

This is also the reason why one should never buy second hand keyboards/mouse.
