Just finding this thread now! Is this usually a Friday night thing?

I love and suck at Civ but perhaps I'll see if anyone's up for it some night this weekend I might be able to set some time aside, this seems like a lot of fun. Depends on how quickly I can binge watch House of Cards :P

EDIT: http://steamcommunity.com/id/pr0ximity

Our usual time is Friday night at 9:00 p.m. EST. We still haven't first the first match because everybody has been so busy but we got a couple other ones in between with new games that we started when somebody couldn't make it.

I'm down to play tonight, I don't have anything planned. :)

I'm down to play tonight as well.

Cool, 9EST pretty much couldn't be better for me. Unfortunately like I said, not going to be able to escape House of Cards with the gf tonight, but perhaps next week or some time this weekend

Last week I got home late and by the time I got online around 9:30 no one else was on.  Tonight I will be playing, either with people or without!

So, Friday?

We really need to get back in the rhythm of things here.  Unfortunately, this weekend is not the time for that.  :(  CPT and myself will be partying it up with Halverson at the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee (which you should come to if you're anywhere near the western half of MI ;) ).

Anyone interested in this Friday, or any other days?  Evenings still work best for me, but tax season is over so I could play more evenings if other nights worked.

I'm living with my parents for a week or two, so I may be getting roped into family stuff. Starting the week of the 10th of May, I'll be able to play probably one night a week fairly reliably.

Okay, I haven't seen Pdub on lately or Steezus either, although Steezus is on Steam sometimes.  I'll ask Steezus if he would be interested, otherwise with a smaller group we may even be able to finish in one night!

Honestly, I just like to play with humans instead of AI because higher difficulties really just let the AI cheat, but it doesn't make them any smarter.  So even on Deity, if you know a few tricks and know how to abuse the AI's weaknesses such as their almost complete inability to fight naval battles, you can still win pretty easily.

Humans are more fun to play with as there is so much more variety in the playstyles, more secret deals and backstabbing, and less predictability in general which makes even losing more fun than winning against the AI :)

:D  If/when we play tonight, we should play no-holds-barred and see how crazy we can get.  I'm prepared to sit through a human-human war now.

Well, I certainly wouldn't say it's common to get cities that big!  My personal best has been 72 pop with The Netherlands as well (polders OP :D) but it was also a little later in the game.

For game length, I think our last game ran about 6-7 hours but we didn't finish it.

Polders are damn OP esp if you get 9-10 tiles of flood plains + hydro plant late game. All those hammers HAHA.

My game ended at 65 pop because we invaded everything. Probably could have gone higher if we dragged it....

Oh yeah they are, although they are pretty situational.  I've had some stupid good games with The Netherlands but also some pretty meh games too, depending on your start and whatever else you have around you.

Cool, looks like we have 4 with maybe 5 if Hoff ends up free.  I'll try and get on a little early (8:50 or so) to get the game rolling a little earlier than usual :)

I will definitely be busy, unless my house guests want to tag-team a game with you guys.

Well why wouldn't they, everyone likes to play Civ V right? ;)

Civilization is like Dynasty warriors.

Buy the exact same game 10 times in a row..  Gotta collect them all.

IMHO,  ROTK 11 is more fun because it emphasizes combat...

Civilization feels more like baby sitting..  but now that so much of it is automatic.. it feels like watching the computer play itself..

I got to that point, then I downloaded some mods and it went away :)
