[GB] GMK Blue Alert - Fulfillment from OCO
« on: Mon, 27 February 2017, 16:28:33 »
Hi,

Back in 2013, Originative made a set called Olivetti. They used U9 and CP for the alpha base and V4 for the legends. I want to bring this set back, but in colors I like. The colors we will be using are U9 for Modifiers and L9 for Alphas. The legend will be V4. I also decided to add support for a Row 5 and 1800 compatible layout.

A similar set was produced by Olivetti, an Italian company who produces typewriters and mechanical keyboards. They used Cherry Molds to produce the keycaps for their Cherry board, but they are now some of the most sought after keycaps.

Prices:

Blue Alert + Tray - $145 ----> $135 nOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sk3et ske3t
Blue Alert Int'l Kit - $42
Cherry Screw-In Stabilizer (6.25u set) - $8
Cherry Screw-In Stabilizer (7u set) - $8
Cherry Screw-In (6.25u single) - $2.50
Cherry Screw-In (7u single) - $2.5
Cherry Screw-In (2u single) - $1.5

All prices are subject to change.

Timeline for all items:
February 27, 2017 - Start Group Buy
March 24, 2017 - End Group Buy
March 31, 2017 - Send Payments to Manufacturer
June 29, 2017 - Receive items
July 6, 2017 - Ship all items

Are these compatible with buckling spring switches? Thinking of making my next kustom with some buckling springs switches when I order them. This set would go great on them.

Blue Alert (we originally named it Olivetti) was one of the first two keysets we ever made. I'll be posting some pictures of them from time to time. The original set had a odd Tab key and a Windows XP style logo.
The price at $145 is if the group buy reaches 100 units. If it hits 100, then we'll pay out of our pockets to help push this group buy forward. If the group buy hits 150, then we'll refund $10 to every user.

It's funny how you can run a set like this, and not include proper support for the VERY popular Sámi layout with the base kit. Fine, we have an opportunity to tip the international kit, but even that kits doesn't have the support for the Sámi keyboard layout.

It would only need 40-50 extra keys in the base kit and you would get so many more buyers, let me tell you. Not sure what went through your mind when you decided to run without these standard keys.

Just because we here in the north have limited access to the internet, and therefore difficulities spreading our opinions doesn't mean we don't have one.

I was down and the marketplace the other day, and literally EVERYONE was talking about how they wanted the Sàmi characters with this set.

Will they be a good match for the EnjoyPBT blue set? They are regular beige and Grey, unlike the 1980's real Olivetti OG Cherry which is not beige but Grey, and dark Grey. Also the enjoyBPT has bright blue dyesub opposed to dark muted blue?

They will look far better than EnjoyPBT...It's double shot so the legend is far better. V4 blue is very vibrant on its own. This isn't a muted blue whatsoever. U9 and L9 match 9009 in terms of color. In real life they look amazing.

Not sure why I keep seeing people say they compare this to EnjoyPBT hahah. The two are so different and colors from GMK are just better. Their tooling is unmatched.

Hope this answers your questions!

Well... I'm not sure about that. Doubleshot legend is slightly more distinct than dyesub legend (and twice the price). But GMK hype is sure unmatched

Is there an exact time when the GB ends? Reason for me asking this is that funds are limited this month, but I will receive salary on the 24th and I really want this one including international kit.

FWIW, the last GB for Honeywell ended at midnight PST. So, this would be 8am CET (as DST begins right after in Europe).

Dyesub might be straighter and more consistent letter width, but not nearly as crisp as double shot. Personally I prefer double shot despite the downsides to using old ass cherry molds.
