Render disclaimer:
Just to avoid any potential confusion, even though the set uses stock GMK colors. Please, if you are not familiar with N9 and U9, do look up existing sets with these colors for your reference (some named just below in the text).
The renders are very neutral, and for example N9 can look more dark gray in different lighting from the renders. Here are some words from Oblotzky on his renders, copy pasted from the GMK Calm Depths thread:
"I do all my renders in a fully desaturated lighting environment, so whatever pantone/ral/hex/rgb colors I am using (https://deskthority.net/wiki/Signature_Plastics_ABS_colours in this case) should be unaffected. The only change would be brightness depending on how much light I use in the scene, and bounce light from neighboring keys (e.g. a red accent key will bounce off some light onto surrounding keys, giving them a small area of red highlight). However the overall tone should be rather close to what you would see IRL in a neutral lighting environment."

MOQ is 150 for this set, as it uses stock GMK colors U9 and N9 - two of the most popular stock colors which can be found throughout a number of sets.

The reasoning was that it would be time-prohibitive to refund 250 or 500 orders individually, and that they'd also still lose the Paypal fees on the refunded portion. It makes me wonder what kind of setup Dixiemech has (who ran Minimal with price breaks) that Kono doesn't.
As far as I can tell, price breaks haven't been too common in past GMK group buys. But numbers on recent buys seem to be way higher than last year. So maybe it's a bigger issue because people are seeing high numbers as more of a realistic possibility.

Typically GMK sets have more legends on the numpad keys, this one has numbers only. I personally like it more because it makes the caps look less busy.

It is not finalized yet, he did not gather all the materials needed so we can't quote it - but he did share details on how he will make them:
- First the cap shape will be machined from raw aluminium blocks
- The caps are then polished, a lot
- The anodization will then be done by Salvun himself
- The caps will receive a deep laser engraving for the lettering
- The lettering will then be filled with enamel

I love salvuns work but the design of this and the render is terrible.
Rama cap looked decent with similar design elements.
Hopefully instead of last minute throwing stuff out there, you spend some time with the feedback and get something great!

The IX/IX design works for the RAMA artisan but not on this one. Maybe because it's simpler in terms of font design? I'm not sure... I also think that IX would work better on this one. Just my opinion though ;D

Disclaimer: I won't be going for the artisan, so my opinion is that of a bystander. Also, if I were a graphic designer, I wouldn't be here, as I would have starved to death long, long ago.
I like the "new" design quite less than the old one. In some angles, it comes off as an "eleven" (something that didn't happen with the previous design). The double bar separator also looks odd and does not come off as a good fit in with the general design of GMK Nines. IMHO. YMWSV.

Still don't quite get who will pay for the fees. Say if I buy a set with 200 dollars, seller got charged 6 dollars (hypothetically). When seller issues the full refund, do I get $200 or $194?

We have been thinking back and forth, and will keep doing that. Once we have some ideas, we will throw up a poll and you can vote on which one you want. MOQ is really low, so even if a few people would like to complement their GMK nines, they can. Personally I really liked the last design, but we heard you on the font part and have updated it to be more rounded (GMK font inspired). We will have some more for you to vote on, with focus on simplicity and cleanliness. I don't want to promise too much, but I also like the simple "IX" that many discords, and even users in this thread+IC, seem to like - so we will make one like that as well.
Collab!?
Skiidata has been extended a week, and some kits from that GB complements GMK Nines wonderfully. The production and shipment should be roughly close to one another, so please consider jumping on the blank N9 relegendables or even the spacebar kit! ;)
In addition, don't forget to consider the GMK Blank GB to fill out some more layouts that the Nines basekit does not support (spacebars, ortho, etc). I do not know the runner of that GB and have never spoken to him - I just think it would help out some people thinking of jumping on Nines. :)

So, after some back and forth I came to the conclusion that I will offer a poll for two Artisans, and let you decide which one is made. My initial plan was to have 4, among those would be my original design that RAMA rendered, as well as a simple "IX" centered. I skipped those, and instead settled on these two which I think will look good. Now I know I can't please everyone, but I would feel worse putting something out there that I don't want myself, so I hope you can understand.

Not yet, but pngu is on a rendering spree for his idb60 and did a take on Nines! However, note that they are not accurate to the set (and are meant to show the board, not GMK Nines), aside from colors, for example 6u space is not included and there are no Win keys. So, after some back and forth I came to the conclusion that I will offer a poll for two Artisans, and let you decide which one is made. My initial plan was to have 4, among those would be my original design that RAMA rendered, as well as a simple "IX" centered. I skipped those, and instead settled on these two which I think will look good. Now I know I can't please everyone, but I would feel worse putting something out there that I don't want myself, so I hope you can understand.

This looks nothing like the renders, are you sure that's U9? It looks more like 2B, not creamy at all, just plain gray. Ignoring the N9 because that apparently is very hard to capture in photos.

If anyone happen to have GMK 9009/Classic Retro (which I don't, hence I bought the individual Esc keys just to see how N9|U9 combo looks like in real rather than renders), feel free to take pictures of how N9 key will look like. Tried another shots of N9 keys along with GMK WoB and titanium grey board.

Yeah, Janglad did a great job! :) I wanted renders on as many types of boards and colors as possible, as I think Nines is a really versatile set in terms of what you could use it on!

Numbers: exactly 400 sold sets - thank you everyone! If I knew it was this close to 500 earlier, I would have maybe extended the buy and pushed for some sort of goodwill for purchasers. :(
Vendors are currently paying GMK, and production should start shortly.
There will be extras at all vendors, but very limited numbers!
Artisans will be produced around June or july, before the actual set is ready to ship. I think most people have paid, I'm only awaiting reply from kbdfans regarding one customer.
All in all, things are going smoothly and I hope we have a great set in our hands around august! :)

So, I tested out some ideas - and unfortunately the single IX just doesn't look good. I imagined that it would look good, but it just didn't translate well from my head and onto a keycap. Instead, I went for the IX/IX design and added it to the basekit:

Artisans are just about to be made by salvun, and if I know him right, the process might be put up on his Instagram stories for us to follow! As for the spots, I emailed out and got no replies for some, so those will be reraffled. I'll work on the form as soon as I get to a pc later today!

If konos extras are sold out, then I am sorry to say that you'll not be able to purchase through them anymore. Kbdfans will have extras, so your best bet is to wait for those to open up (usually when the Keyset has shipped to them). Besides that, the aftermarket would be the way to get it.

I'm not a participant and I didn't get one. And of course, like any amazing product, we would all like to be a part of it. Which is why it's so easy to tell Emir to just sell off the extras- Duh! Cuz we want it.
But if it was supposed to be exclusive from the start, I can only imagine what the remaining raffle winners would think.

I think Emir should reached out to the original raffle winners to ask for their opinion (besides announcing it here- cuz usually I don't tend to follow the GH thread post-GB).

Yeah, I know that it sucks - but I have respect for the participants and I'll honor my end. In addition, adding +-5 artisans to the mix would not guarantee that you or others who really want it will get one.

There's a lot of jokes and people not as happy with the result, but Emir specifically stated in their initial post asking for suggestions that if any of the current owners wanted to privately message Emir, that was an option.
I, for one, would not like to detract from the actual GMK Nines set with all of these jokes or unsatisfactory comments regarding extra artisans, Emir is still conducting a groupbuy for a wonderful set overall that I think is a great design!

If my (or anyone else's) jokes or comments makes it seem like I'm disappointed with this turn of events, thats because I am (slightly) disappointed and while I understand it wasn't our decision to make, but that doesn't mean that decision is above praise or in this case (minor) criticism.
At this point there is nothing else a buyer of GMK Nines can really do but wait for our sets to ship or talk about how excited we are for the day we receive our sets or ask about extras if they missed out, but everyone has already done those things for months, and commenting on the outcome of a matter that requested our input seems like fair game.
I'm sure those lucky 5 will derive twice the fun from those caps than they would if there were in fact 10 of them, but I'm just not a fan of artificial scarcity or binning wanted goods as a matter of principal.

Sorry but I don't think we will sketch up a new design and remanufacture - the issue at hand is the "Leftover" caps. :O GB is in its ending stage, so I'd like to have it resolved rather quickly so that it doesn't drag on - and so that I can move on to other projects (Firefly).

Artisan, not color corrected - next to n9 and u9.
It's not a perfect match - but looks pretty good side by side IMO! The ano is a bit darker than N9.
I think artisans should be headed to each vendor now, so raffle winners keep an eye out! :)
Nines should ship this week if the information I was provided is correct, let's see! :)

Due to some unfortunate circumstances out of Konos control, Nines has not been able to be sent out for the customers in the US.
However, they just greenlit fulfillment and a good 300 or so orders are being sent out as I write this! All orders should be sent out within a day or two!
KBDFans expected to start shipping in about a week give or take, currently stuck at the port still.

This would be best to ask the vendor you purchased from, Salvun has sent them out to each vendor already AFAIK. EU members have received theirs, I believe.

I originally ordered through KBDfans, but today I just got an email from Kono that they are shipping to me instead. Did KBDfans transfer US based orders to Kono? I am US based.
OH yes, I forgot to mention that they worked out a deal for that among themselves. It'd be too expensive to first gave eu to China, and then china to US.
I am aware some customers chose kbdfans because they dislike Kono, I'm sorry for not mentioning this sooner.

Wei expects that it might take as long as until CNY, which is in about a month and a half. I hope it'll be sooner.
This would also serve as an example that it might not always be zFrontiers fault that they're slow.

It looks like it may be ready in June? Below is the R2 information found on their weekly status page (https://kono.store/pages/weekly-update), last updated April 16th:
