Just a side note:

We are considering offering "Blank" Case Badges as add-ons.

Since I am the author of a very similar board that I have been planning on running forever that many of you may know as Elongate, and also given the amount of PMs me and Gongo are getting about it, and even seeing some people already commenting on said resemblance, I thought I should chip in with my thoughts.

I do think that this board looks a lot like the Elongate, specially when you look at the colors chosen for the prototype. There are clear differences: it's a south paw (duh!) and it doesn't have the split space blocker.

Just for the record, here's the unboxing of my prototype that took place Oct 27, 2019 -

To add to that, and to take full accountability for my shortcomings, I have been working on this project for a long time (maybe too long) and have not posted an IC, which is totally my fault. Had I done so, it would be a lot more obvious that it was something that was going on.

So in a nutshell: do I think that this shouldn't run? No, I do think it's totally fine to run.

If I was running it, I'd personally approach this differently. If I knew about Elongate existence, I would PM me beforehand just to clear things out. That's the only part that leaves a bit of bad taste in my mouth.

With all of that said, if there's one thing I hate the most in this community is drama. That's why I wanted to take this out of my chest and say that even though the runners obviously didn't ask for it, you have my full blessing for this project and I wish you nothing but the best!

i'd say the elongate is quite different from this as well, only the layout being slightly similar (though a bit of a stretch as you mentioned)

I love Mr. Keebs, his Designs/workings and never thought clarabelle was similar besides being another "Mini 1800". There are SO MANY differences between the two.

Remember when Gondo (Elongate PCB Designer) made the SharkPCB and People LOST THERE MINDS in regards to the Planck... lol

I'd get this, but the split spacebar bottom row is not good enough for me :( I'd like the AltGr key to be easier to hit (here it's further away than on 60% layouts), and I don't think the 1/1.5/1 sequence looks good. I'd prefer a separate plate for split spacebar bottom row, and something like 1.5/1/1.25/2/2.25/1.25/1.25/1/1.5, or 3x 1.25u + 2u/2.25u spacebars + 4x 1.25u
This would still put the spacebar split right in the middle between G and H, and it would not increase the number of keys, but it would improve the sizes and locations by a lot in my opinion.

I definitely prefer the current split spacebar layout over what you've proposed. I hope that if your layout does get implemented that both can exist.

Cannonkeys normally opens his GBs at 11:00 EST. Not saying that will be the exact time for clarabelle cause life happens but I was told that's a good estimate.

We should have a better answer closer to the 15th though.

No enter key or decimal for the numpad, or am I simply missing something?

Numpad is great for Excel or calculator work, but having the enter and decimal point key integrated are key to this. Otherwise you need to use two hands.

I'll probably just slap the standard alpha number row keys on there

Thats how I have it set up as well. the shift is close enough that if your hands are average size you should be able to do the normal reach for the symbols too.

That's pretty smart. So when you move around say a spreadsheet you use the left hand arrows. And then when calculating hold ".". That's good. I like 1 hand calculating. That's smart.

Very cool. Ever since I started using split boards I found it was easier to put the arrow cluster on a function layer under the WASD keys rather than have dedicated arrows on the right side since I almost always use arrows with my left hand. I would like to see more arrow and nav clusters on the left. I think I still prefer the numpad on the right, but this is a cool design. I don't know if I would buy one because the lack of a standard number row kind of kills it for me. (Can't play games on it and I am too used to the location of common symbols like !@$(). I would probably need to get used to having backspace one row down as well.) Good luck with GB!
