Title: [IC] Turkeeb v1 Custom %60 Keyboard
Post by: Penumbra on Fri, 19 October 2018, 07:15:22
Hello Geekhack Family,

First of all let me introduce myself. I'm Mert from Turkey and I'm in love with custom keyboards  :-* But sadly, Turkey haven't got any regular keyboard making company or custom ones. So I decided to make my own mechanical keyboard case (CNC prices are really cheap here too) and I can crate my own PCB within the next project with new budget. Then I can be the guy who started this hobby in Turkey.

Please know that this is my first project and I never had a custom keyboard before so I'm open to any suggestions!

Let's see my first project;

This keyboard will be anodized aluminum and brass backplate. Price will be around 200~250 $ for every color. We can also make a custom image, sign etc. to the backplate for every customer.

Thanks!

looks good, one or two questions though :

-whats the front height of the keyboard ? it looks kind of high and I've heard a keyboard is almost unusable if it's too high

-is it top mounted ? bottom mounted ? tray mounted ?

Yeah I was getting worried about front height and I think its true. It's too high (25mm) and its gonna be a problem just like Time TKL (24mm) project.

And yes its tray mounted.

Whats the most favorite height for all other custom keyboards, 15~16?

Angle? Connection type? Alps support?

5 degree, connection type of choose.

I didn't think about the ALPS support but if alps support means different switch plate, then we can do it.

I don't think I've seen a front height that low, if you can do 15~16 would be great probably. I think most of the customs are around 19mm. From my point of view going over 20mm would be a bit too much.

You call it a tenkeyless but looks like a standard 60% ANSI layout and plate, correct?

Judging from the USB port placement, this won't take universal PCBs?

Hello Geekhack Family,

First of all let me introduce myself. I'm Mert from Turkey and I'm in love with custom keyboards  :-* But sadly, Turkey haven't got any regular keyboard making company or custom ones. So I decided to make my own mechanical keyboard case (CNC prices are really cheap here too) and I can crate my own PCB within the next project with new budget. Then I can be the guy who started this hobby in Turkey.

Please know that this is my first project and I never had a custom keyboard before so I'm open to any suggestions!

Let's see my first project;

This keyboard will be anodized aluminum and brass backplate. Price will be around 200~250 $ for every color. We can also make a custom image, sign etc. to the backplate for every customer.

Thanks!
Since this project is over, do you think you can message me? I have a question.
