Cleaning? It looks like raised metal.. Doesn't bother me that much though. Also, +1 for sandblasting

They'll be stainless steel. I got a combination that doesn't exist in production so they're irrelevant.

I prefer the sandblasted one, not really into polished weights. Polished ones scratch too easily if not handled and packaged with the utmost of care in transsit.

I still don't know if I'm doing that yet I'll receive brass/polycarbonate plates in the bulk shipment on April 13th and will assess the quality.

My current plans are assembling the boards so I'm shipping a singular piece (nothing metal can move), with the PCB (if you ordered one) inside in a layer of foam wrap. I'll wrap the keyboard in several layers of foam wrap and put it into the double walled box and make sure there is no movement. I think no movement is key, but let me know if there is any more I can do.

Regarding the prototype weights, the import fees are paid off and I imagine they're about to land at the airport any time soon. If it lands today, then I'm sure it'll be here tomorrow.

Preassembled with PCB on the inside of the case sounds good

If you could do this kind of hard foam I think you could eliminate a lot of movement

just make sure there is no movement inside the package and thick layered foam. U might want to look at mech27 package fiasco to avoid similar thing happen to ours.

Im all for the custom boxes because they give me a nice storage option.  However, if it is too expensive or too much delay, just assemble them, then wrap in foam.  Could you possibly throw in an extra screw or two?  That is always nice.

It was quite an experience- everyone commented on how spectacularly well the boards were packed by Leeho (actually his wife). You would do fine by me in copying exactly his packing strategy. That think could have been kicked from truck to doorstep and been flawless.

I love the idea of a custom box but imagine that would be costly and take some time to design/ produce and I know we're all eager to see these bad boys ship. Maybe pack the $#it out of them this round Kin-style and then go custom box as an add-on option for the X75 and beyond...

Got the weight prototypes today. Both exciting and disappointing.

The quality of the polished weight is absolutely awful. We'll ignore that. Sandblasted will be the production version.

I'm happy with the general engraving - it's nice apart from it hasn't been machined properly so there is still material on the inside of some letters (Carbon Edition, ARBNEDTN11). The depth is nice, the corners are done well. Aside from the incorrect machining, which is an easy fix, it's great.

The consistency of the finish is slightly off. There is some streaking and variants in the surface color. I will be making sure this is fixed for production. There are also a couple of tiny "dings", but these can be fixed by asking them to be more careful.

Over the next few days I'll be making sure we have zero problems for production, and once I'm sure then we'll enter production.

I got two identical, the only difference is the finish. Just X60 is on the outside, the more complex is on the inside.

So at the minute there are two types of engraving:

The engraving currently on the outside, now referred to as SIMPLE.



And the engraving currently on the inside, now referred to as DETAIL.



When assembled, on the bottom you will see SIMPLE. You would have to take the case apart to see DETAIL.

I am considering swapping this around. The swap would mean when assembled, on the bottom you will see DETAIL, and you would have to take the case apart to see SIMPLE.

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR FEEDBACK AND OPINIONS.

Whether you're involved in the group buy or not, I would like your opinion. Swapping these around wouldn't require a new prototype (a new prototype would add 30 days on), but if there is enough people wanting a new prototype (if you're involved in the group buy) then I will.

Regarding the production weights, I'll be talking to the factory on Monday, and by Tuesday I should have a rough idea of how long the issues with the prototypes will take to solve.

I think it would be very nice to be able to look at your edition and numbers at a glance instead of where you'd never see it inside the case.
