So at the minute there are two types of engraving:

The engraving currently on the outside, now referred to as SIMPLE.

And the engraving currently on the inside, now referred to as DETAIL.

When assembled, on the bottom you will see SIMPLE. You would have to take the case apart to see DETAIL.

I am considering swapping this around. The swap would mean when assembled, on the bottom you will see DETAIL, and you would have to take the case apart to see SIMPLE.

Whether you're involved in the group buy or not, I would like your opinion. Swapping these around wouldn't require a new prototype (a new prototype would add 30 days on), but if there is enough people wanting a new prototype (if you're involved in the group buy) then I will.

Regarding the production weights, I'll be talking to the factory on Monday, and by Tuesday I should have a rough idea of how long the issues with the prototypes will take to solve.

How will it look for those who are not among carbon and founders?

All that engraving to be hidden on the inside of the case doesn't make much sense.  I also lay down silencing foam on the inside of my case, so I wouldn't be able to see the engraving if I took off the top part of the case anyways.

I think it would be very nice to be able to look at your edition and numbers at a glance instead of where you'd never see it inside the case.

Conflicted because I want to see my number/edition, but prefer the simplicity of how it is now. I'd be happy with whatever decision is made

Edit: Having the "simple" variant on the outside isn't a deal breaker, I too would just prefer to see my edition number.

I personally liked the plain X60 on the outside, mainly because I'm not going to be staring at it constantly. And if I ever pick it up, that simple, yet elegant X60 will show, instead of x/100.

I agree, the board design is by nature simple, yet elegant. Swapping the detail, in my humble onion, would look too busy.
TLDR, keep it as is. No swap.

With the number on the outside I could, at a glance, show people who have no idea about keyboards and be like 'hey this weight is the only one of it's kind, see?' and they would almost certainly be jealous.

Seems like that would be a reason to have gotten in on the first 30 so you got a numbered one

When will the form for extra plates (Steel, Poly, Alu, etc.,) go out?

I still don't know if I'm doing that yet I'll receive brass/polycarbonate plates in the bulk shipment on April 13th and will assess the quality.

Still interested in an extra SS plate. 

I'm currently talking to the factory about custom boxes, but not sure how far that'll go. Ruling out custom foam/boxes, how would everyone like to see their keyboards packed? Any hints, tips, paragraphs of descriptions would be appreciated.

A plain brown box with a top which wraps around to the side (similar to the boxes kin25 packs his boards with) could be great. It could be used to store the X60 safely away when swapping keyboards.

The results seem to be as inconclusive as predicted.

Its nice to get everyone's opinion but since both options seem to be equally supported and most don't have a hard opinion on this, I'd say go with whatever you think would be best xon.

It makes sense, the folks with no board specific information outnumber those with it.

I'd personally prefer the simple if I had the standard version, but it seems awfully silly to have individual board specific engraving only to hide it away in a location that many people are only going to see once.

I'll be creating new files over the next day or so whilst continuing talks with the manufacturer on making sure the production weights are perfect. I can see talks being concluded by Friday.

Looks like the finishing process has been mostly fixed. Pictures are before and after. We're almost ready to go into production, the factory are investigating the engraving and I'm sure we'll have a fix any time soon.

It's a consistent finish now.



You should be able to see how inconsistently colored the finish was on my prototype.

Personally, I like the polished finish and think a simpler bottom looks better.  Honestly, if it were my choice, I would have the bottom be completely blank to add to the sleek look of the board.  But I understand that many do not like that.

Just offering my 0.02, cant wait for this no matter the outcome of these decisions.

Trying to consolidate my materials right now for the silver SS X60. Made up my mind that I want my OG G80 beige set on this, but still not sure about switches. I have a box of R4.5 65g Zealios sitting around but given that it's an SS plate...I'm not sure anymore.
