Just a small update.
The renders on the first page has been changed back to original colorway.
For the base kit:
- Added missing 1u r4 alt key.
- Removed Carbon periodic Novelty.
Show Image

Probably i'll add all possible enter keys in grey color and one grey esc key. So people can eliminate orange keys completely.

Gray Esc (and possibly Enter) would be awesome!  :thumb:

Will the Carbon periodic be removed completely or added to the novelties kit?
Also, why no lambda (HalfLife) love this time around?  ;)

The Carbon periodic is removed completely, because it looks only with centered legends. I know it is one of coolest carbon novelties, but as i said it does not fit the GMKs legend alignment. I would suggest to make it as win key replacement, but it would require 3 new molds (1u, 1.25u and 1.5u sizes). So its gone.

The lambda, actually i dont know. I'd like to keep Novelties as they are currently, because you see the pricing for 13 new legends. But i'll look into lambda addition.

How about adding 1.5u novelties since there's only Alt and Ctrl in the base kit?
It would be a shame since it's the only key I'm missing for my 1u 1.5u 6u 1.5u 1u layout  :-[

If i add 1.5u novelty then, i have to do it also for 1.25u and 1u. I do not prioritize any specific layout (in your case its hhkb). Also keep in mind every novelty increases the pricing greatly.

Nice to lots of people getting involved to make this set a success and iron out any potential pitfalls. It's always a shame when something crops up once a set has been launched and people get upset. I haven't even seen any home key wars. Since the Minila was mentioned here, I thought I would post mine. Not possible with GMK, but I am looking forward to putting these on my TX1800. I may never take them off.

The ISO render in the OP has a key that is not actually included in the kit: Row 3 #~.

I dont like 60% boards. Don't take it seriously, it's just my personal preference. However i got feelings for minila and i dont know why. That layout is mesmerizing. And that case.

Its made by Zambumon :) It's his Vision of ISO :)

His render of your set is cool; but it may be confusing as it should reflects your design, instead of his desires.

Yeah, the minila is the most complete 60% in my eyes... maybe that's why, since it's got lots of extra keys... I'd love to be able to fully equip my ISO minila with the Carbon set :D

Have R4 novelties been considered? Maybe something like the hexagon symbol from the SA set or the half life lambda.

An Update and i hope this will be the last one.
I let it so for one week. If you find something missing (very important keys only) just call it here and i'll be thankful. It's in human nature to oversee or forget things. If someone can get a catch i would appreciate it.

Now the curent and most probably final Version.

It covers following layouts:
  • 100%, TKL, 75%, 60%
  • WKL
  • 1800 look a like
  • HHKB to some degree (no 6u spacebar)

It offers also a great color variety. For example you can eliminate all the orange keys (though no legends) and make it almost classic. You have to keep in mind this keyset will get custom colors and you will not be able to mix and match it with other keysets as you like. Perhaps it will be hard to do so. This is the reason why i went full into variety. My goal was and is, to provide a forward-looking/future-secure keyset, Tastes changes but i want Carbon to last on your keyboard as much as possible.

For the Novelties i'd like to skip Lambda because it would increase pricing to ~90$. Also keep in mind the pricings posted previously did not considered custom colors. So the novelties will be like 80$ at 150 moq. Thats much but it's gonna be a separate drop. But i'll check the pricing with lambda anyway. If its ok then it will be added and Half Life 3 will be confirmed :).

So  if you find a missing key then please reply here. Thanks.

Looks fantastic! Really would like an alternative to the "Win" key whether blank/CODE/novelty, especially since this set is a custom color.

It seems complete, at first glance; however, I wonder if the 1.25u left shift, for ISO, can be manufactured with both, the text and the icon legends, due to its short width.

It looks kinda cute, but cramped in my opinion. As an ISO user I prefer textless modifiers, partially because of this.

Edit: I should add that Icon/textless and text+icon shifts have their icon on different heights, otherwise I would be ok with mixed I think.

I am waiting for the next Carbon SA drop but would like to see this one have orange keys to match the Carbon SA Orange Alphas, if not the novelties. It is still my favorite but I never thought it would be made in this new profile.

I have a new Leopold FC750 that needs Carbon and Orange.

Why do you want the keys in this set to match those of Carbon SA? Their profiles are so different that they may look and feel very awkward if they were installed side by side in the same keyboard.

That is a very good sugestion. I might look into it, if the pricing for the current version is going to be too high for my taste (in a strategic way). If i skip the current version, say the gray enters will be skipped, then i might add that 2.25u shift. Keep in mind this is not a promise, because this is GMK keyset and i got limitations.

Yeah, the OP already stated this is gonna be an expensive set, meaning that it may not be suitable for everyone, but being a special color combination, it most have most of the options covered, as matching key caps are not available somewhere else. I should check if I may get in, by the time the set becomes available. It does not matter how good looking the set is, cost will always be important, because I have a user mentality, over a collector's; therefore, maybe, I should be contempt by seeing pictures of the set, only.  :p

Let's see.
