Paying 20% customs probably would have been better than getting keycaps with scratches on them

Tho, since I have 3 sets, 3*(+20% + 5$) might not have been worth it

Is customs based on footprints in your country? Massdrop does declare the amount you paid as the value anyways, so in my case it didn't make a lot of difference since it only adds the $5 for the tray and $0,95 because of the increased value for customs.

They don't like hassle, they don't like big stuff

When you put a lot of stuff in a small box, it's less hassle, low declaration, no tax

If the box is huge, they would be obliged to hold it

Had one situation where they didn't close the package properly after inspection. That got me pretty mad ...

Dont have proper equipment right now.

But since it will take a while me to get some, i made some pics with cameras i have. So do not expect good quality and in photography i am also pretty beginner...
Keep in mind here in Germany we got like no sun almost, despite that i used the natural light for taking these photos.

With my mobile:

Its very dark.

A camera with some light correction.

Better but the modifiers are lighter. In person Carbon gray is very balanced. However on photos its very dark.

SA and GMK Carbon with higher ISO under very bad light conditions. Bad light conditions + that equipment is the cause of that bad noisy photos.


Anyway dont take these pics as reference. In person it looks better.

I'm an extreme critic myself, I honestly didn't think very highly of Carbon SA in the early days, mainly because Gaming/CS isn't my thing, and I assumed it was mainly aimed at CS players, the colorway didn't swoop me off my feet either, everyone has their own tastes

But these pictures almost made me cry, so beautiful, such harmony, and those alphas ... a dream come true

Also thanks again for the bumped F/J's - It was probably a first in GMK GB History, adding keycaps at that stage <3

There is nothing wrong with SA profile. The switches are the issue. Its not made for MX switches. You will get far better experience with SA on topre.

They could have recessed the stem a bit tho, it would improve the sound and reduce the height, in my opinion

Flush stems are ~ok on DSA's, but on SA's, the height is just too much

I wonder whether they wisely made them flush for costar stabs, but even costar stabs could handle at least 2-3mm of reduction

This is also probably a problem of our generation tho, we are used to the comfort of low profile typing, it seems, back in the day, typing was a hefty process too

To me SA profile keycaps are best suited for heavier switches, but the wobble of Cherry can be a real issue with their height. I haven't typed on a full board with SA, but just testing Zealios with keys out of a grabbag, I could already tell it was a no-go.

Also, I'm in on all the GMK Carbon kits so far, but an orange spacebar would look sweet on my GMK unicorn vomit Dolch Pac.

Do you mean that having better input devices is a "problem"? Well, live to see. It seems that now, not being able to use a key cap design, more fitted for card punching machines, is a problem of our generation.

That is an ugly behavior, it is as if someone is getting ready to put the full guilty of something on someone else, well in advance.

What I'm saying is, the keyset is beautiful, let's hope we don't experience another Massdrop drama, and possibly prepare for it and don't get affected morally too much

Do not fear. In most cases the sets will be fine. Just keep in mind 1956 sets there sorted by human hand! There will be some double keys errors.

As i have already received one set, in general its speaks up to GMK quality. There is nothing wrong with it. Sure some users may find some nuances which kinda could be done better but otherall its great, its high quality and for that price its awesome. Keep in mind GMK and Massdrop take this drop quite very seriously. You can see it just on the banderole which was done as extra just for this drop.

In regards of light bleeding. Just was curious and tested it. I've tested 1.75u shift key and 1.25u key and there was no light bleed.

So everything will be fine

It was a typo. Sure. There is no light bleed in regards of my set. Hope its the same for all the other sets.

ame here! I was hoping to get my base, novelty, and Ergodox/Planck set all at once but I guess since the Ergodox/Planck set had much lower numbers they were able to sort and ship it much faster.

I wonder if Massdrop has already received the base and novelty sets as well and started sorting them too. It's odd that the Ergo/Planck kit is shipping out before the others when it was the last kit being done from what I understood, I had thought it'd be the last to ship. It would be a great surprise to find they'd shipped all 3 kits together but I know better than that!
