No problem. Sent it out today. I'll PM with tracking.
More or less my thoughts, which I'll expand on later are primarily that it's really hard to tell which switches I like without typing on a board full of them.
However, I can see why people like the linear switches for gaming and the ergo clears seem nice, but they're light enough that if I were typing on them fast I don't think it would make much of a difference. With clears you don't really bottom out in my experience. On that note, the clears on this felt different than the clears on my FC660M.

All of the browns more or less feel linear. If I wanted that I'd just get reds or blacks. And maybe I will give those guys a try.

I think this also made me realize that while heavy switches feel nice to type on, for me that's only when I'm typing slowly. Lighter switches seem better for that.

had the board for a couple of days, here are my personal thoughts of each switch, in order of top to bottom, left to right.

TOP ROW:
White: slightly heavier version of the Blue but lighter than Green, interesting.
White w/Black Spring: takes a bit more force to click the switch compared to Green
Green: heavier version of Blue, nothing to really talk about here.
White w/Clear Spring: I would say this is identical to the Green.
Blue w/Black Spring: Feels like a gram heavier than the above.
Brown w/Clear Spring: heavier version of Brown, pretty neat, good for stiff switch lovers
Brown w/Black Spring: basically the same as above. If you like the black but wanna try some tactile go for these.

SECOND ROW:
Red: nothing much to say here, move along
Ghetto Red: same as Red, but ghetto-er
Clear: heavier version of the Brown with a LOT more noticeable tactile bump.
Black: heavier than Red, linear, blah blah blah
Red w/ Black Spring: reversed ghetto Red... feels the same as black
Red w/Clear Spring: feels the same as Black
Black w/Clear Spring: feels the same as Black

FOURTH ROW:
Blue: good old clicky
White w/Light Spring: feels a little heavier than the Blue, not as clicky as the Blu
Ergo Clear: the switch I was looking forward to trying the most. not sure how I feel about the super tactile feedback though. Definitely gonna try to make a board out of Ergo Clears.
Brown: Typing this review on my Brown, my daily driver switch, now you know why I want an Ergo Clear board.

BOTTOM ROW:
Grey: the heaviest spring on the board, gonna need uber powerful fingers to type on these. For a spacebar it's not that bad.
Dark Grey: Even heavier than the Black, a board made of this is a finger exerciser, not a keyboard.
Toggle w/Light Spring: Never tried a toggle switch before, pretty interesting.
Toggle: see above.
Clear w/Black Spring: feels about the same as clear.

My Conclusion:
- Will never use keyboard that has heavy springs on it. (black spring or clear spring)
- Green is actually a lot better than I expected, it is on the lighter side.
- MX White is something I can see myself type on, but they are so hard to find.
- Definitely gonna try to build an lubed Ergo Clear board
over all great fun experience, thanks hashbaz!

still waiting for the address of next tester.

Received the UST today! Will probably post a small review before I send it off.  This is going to be my first experience with mechanical switches, so it'll be first impressions.

If by interest you mean having a great tour of the metropole that is Montréal, i can provide this fairly easy. Anyone who comes in Montréal and contact me beforehand, i'm willing to show you guys the funny spots (as we are a city mostly known for our party addiction and incredible places to visit).

Plus i can get fairly damn dank grass here. We're world reknown to have insane strains of that funny plant over here. I'll take care of the rolling and everything now worry.

Only thing i can't provide is a place to sleep :x. You'll need to book an hotel room (which we have many classy hotels here in Montréal, hookers available on demand, Ste-Cath Street after 11pm)

Just don't forget the ultimate switch tester %-) I'll use it for about an hour or two :p

Yeah that could work too but no one is going to get stoned with me for free :(.

I'm willing to pay shipping fees if any applies, and if possible someone tells me who i have to forward it too. I have multiples ways of forwarding an item in the mainland therefore i only need a name and an address to forward it to someone.

Ready to send out the keyboard, I just need the address of the next tester.

Here's my mini-review. I'm going to focus on the standard switches since I haven't tried a mechanical switch before.

Reds: Light switch. Doesn't feel like a rubber done like some people say.  Don't really like the linear feel. Can't see myself buying a board with these.

Blacks: Too heavy.  Again, dislike the linear feel.

Browns: The tactile bump is noticeable, but small.  I kinda like these switches and will probably buy my first board with these.

Clears: Definitely a more noticeable tactile feel.  Doesn't feel too heavy.  Now I'm torn between these and browns.
Ergo-clears: Love these.  If I could buy a board with these I would be very happy.

Blues: Love the clicky sound.   Definitely going to buy a board with these when I don't have to worry about bothering a roommate  :))

Greens: Too heavy like the clears.  Not  really considering it at this point.

White: Not clicky enough.  Also a tad on the heavier side.

Okay, I've finally had a chance to play with the UST for a while, and here are my impressions. Just to let you know where I'm coming from, I learned to type on an IBM Selectric in 1983, and I type a little over 100 WPM when I get up to full speed. My neighbor had a Model M with his original IBM PC-AT, which I really loved. So when I got the first PC of my own (a "clone" 386SX), I tried out all of the keyboards in the store until I found a nice, tactile, clicky keyboard that I really liked: the SIIG Suntouch. I didn't know anything about mechanical switches at the time, but I later found out that it had white Alps switches). I used that keyboard for about 12 years straight until the switches finally started wearing out. Afterward, I went through a succession of craptacular rubber dome keyboards, searching and searching for a suitable replacement for my dear departed keyboard. Fortunately I had my eyes opened when I discovered GH four years ago, and since then I've been using vintage Model Ms, various tactile Alps boards, and blue and green Cherry MX (Filco and Cooler Master QFR/QFS).

Needless to say, I'm a tactile switch man through and through, so I pretty much rejected all of the linear switches in the UST immediately, although I did give them a fair shot just to be thorough. If I were forced to use only a linear switch, I'd choose the blacks, just to give them some sensation of resistance.

So, in ascending order of preference, here are the switches I liked best in the UST:

Brown
Blue
Green/White/Blue with black spring/Blue with clear spring
Clear/Clear with black spring
Ergo clear

I am truly surprised by how much I liked the ergo clear switches. I thought for sure that I preferred heavier switches, since I like the Model M, and the green switches seem closer to that feel than the blues I had been using. But the ergo clears have that huge tactile bump, much bigger than any other Cherry switch, and it brings them right up into the ballpark "feel" of the Model M and white Alps switches that I love so much.

Now that I've said all that, I also realized that there's a huge difference between individually pressing keys lightly for "feel" versus typing at 100 WPM. With my typing style, honestly, even while writing this on the UST I don't feel a huge amount of difference between the keys except for the light versus heavier springs.

So, ultimately, I don't know if it would be worth it to me to go to the trouble of making my own ergo clear switches and replacing an entire board with them. However, if Cherry or a keyboard manufacturer ever marketed a keyboard with ergo clear switches, I would most definitely buy it.

Final thought: It's a shame no keyboards use those nifty toggle switches for Caps Lock, but of course I know that the Caps Lock "state" is not controlled by the keyboard but by the PC, so it just wouldn't work as expected, unfortunately.

Okay, my time with the UST has come to a close, so I'll be putting it in the mail tomorrow for ImperfectLink. Thanks again, hashbaz, for letting me be a part of this fun tour! I learned more about Cherry MX switches in 20 minutes of playing with them than I could have ever learned from reading alone!

Techno Trousers,

I would like to ask you in between the Blue/Green MX which one is your favorite? Because my next buy will most probably be a clicky board.

Also between Brown and Clear, which one would you say is your favorite?

Please add explainations if possible i will defenetly read it all Thanks.

Blues and greens are the same switch mechanism, so only the difference is their color and the weight of the spring inside. I tend to type energetically, so I like the green better than the blue since I bottom out less, and it just feels better to me overall. When I got back into mechanical keyboards a few years ago, I decided to try blues and used blue switch Filco boards exclusively for two years. During that time, I tried my best to lighten my typing style, but I kept consistently bottoming out, either because I'm too set in my ways, or there was just not enough tactility for me to feel the activation point when I am up to speed.

I didn't like the browns much at all, because they are very light, and there is almost no tactile feel in them at all to me. Clears are great, because they are heavy and have an even bigger tactile bump than the greens (although they feel pretty similar with the stock spring). The ergo clears (clears with light spring) were the biggest surprise because they still have a very large tactile bump, but are a lighter touch to activate. They almost feel like they should slot in between blues and greens in weight because of the bump. I suspect that when using ergo clears, I might be able to train myself to type with a lighter touch, since I'd be able to feel that big tactility even when going full speed. IMO, ergo clears are what browns should have been all along--they are exactly how I've always seen browns described (tactile, non-clicky). Ergo clears are really the closest feel to buckling spring of any of the Cherry switches, IMO.

I hope that helps!

Ok. I am therefore now looking for a Green Mx and Clear MX board. Cuz you know, when i read your previous post above i realise we have something in common; we both hit hard. I tend to bottom-out on all the board i have/had. Red was simply too light, blacks aren't so bad but i bottom out 50% of my type and i bottom brown hard!

I don't think I understand how someone is able to type and not bottom out. I probably bottom out 99.9% of the time on any keyboard I use.

I hardly bottom out at all with ergoclears. I bottom out hard on my ALPS and reds board, which is why I put o-rings to soften the bottom out with the reds. Bottoming out I guess isn't too big of a dilemma, but it feels really nice on ergoclears when you don't.

hum yeah, i believe it is optimal for you not to bottom out, as bottoming out makes you slower. Also hits the bottom of the switch, means faster wearing out i guess.

the closer you get to the actuation point, with an 100% accuraccy of getting it all the time, the best typist you will be.

I observe the opposite. Attempting to be lighter on the keys and not bottom out makes me so much slower. 101 WPM to 87 WPM on a quick unscientific attempt.

I believe there are European switch tester projects administered by Mr Interface on deskthority.org.  If there's sufficient interest I have no problem sending this one overseas.

Okay. I'll probably sit out, then, since being at an APO I'd rather be at the end of the list, and by the time it comes to my turn I wont be here anymore.

I'll just have to wait until I know where I'll be living.

Thanks anyways!

My first impression is that you could hand me a board with any one of these switches and I would adapt and use it without complaint. Since there are options, here is my unscientific evaluation.

Foreword:

I'm used to Cherry MX Browns and recently acquired a board with Reds and modified it with O rings. If you are new to mechanical keyboards like I am and do the research before buying your first board, I'd venture to say that you probably came to the same conclusion and bought  a board with Browns. After all, it is often touted as the best all-rounder. However, Browns actually turn out to be one of my least favorite switches on this board. More to follow.

A couple observations:

Once I start typing, I immediately notice that the grey switch in the spacebar is too heavy, causing me to mistype. I'm really enjoying the clicky keys but am a little wary of them with an infant sleeping in the next room.

Testing:

Sensation

Comparing Linear (Red, Black);

This switch type feels very clean compared to the others. I'm still bottoming out even with Black since it's the only feedback I'm getting. Blacks feel sturdy when spamming the key but Reds modified with O rings provide a better experience. I quite like them for all-round use but remember, I'm bottoming out 75% of the time so I rely on that bounce at the end of the stroke.

Comparing Tactile (Brown, Clear, ErgoClear);

I barely notice the tactile feedback on the browns. While that is not a bad thing, it doesn't differentiate itself enough from linear reds. Think of the feedback on the browns as a little scratch or resistant spot while the clears produce more of a "pulse" sensation. ErgoClears feel a bit like Browns but obviously with a Clear pulse. The weight of the spring in the stock clears seems to lend itself to the experience and the ErgoClear to me, feels like it has lost that. I definitely prefer the Clears. (Wife assessment - "I prefer the ones in the bottom middle (ErgoClear)")

Comparing Clicky (Blue, Green, White);

Damn I love that click but it's hard to justify the noise level. Audible feedback combined with tactile response greatly helps me bottom out less. If I could muffle the sound a bit, there would be harmony. Perhaps soft landing pads (as mentioned by CaptainBadass in his review) would help with the accoustics. This is not really a switch type for O rings. Stock Blues and Blues with Clear spring are my favorite in this category due to the weight. (Wife assessment - "They feel like I'm typing with long nails")

Weight

The 45g spring in Reds and Browns may be a tad light for me but still quite usable. Moving on to Blue (rated at 50g), spring weight feels the same but the tactile and audible feedback reduce bottoming out.

55g Clears feel great and are where I would stop. In what is obviously an illusion, I found it odd that stock Clears feel like they take less force than the same spring in a Red or Black switch. Perhaps due to me pressing the linear switches all the way down and half way in the tactile. I also like the Clear spring in the Blue and White switches.

60g in the Black feels a little heavy. I wouldn't want to spend too much time typing on these.

80g in Greens, Grays, Whites etc. are just too heavy. I miss keystrokes all over the place.

Conclusion:

Each switch presents its own ideals and its own target audience, so knowing what I do now which would I buy?. My taste seems to be very middling so I present you a list of switches in the order of my personal preference:

1 - Clear
2 - Blue or white with Clear spring
3 - Red (modified with O rings), Blue
3 - ErgoClear
4 - Brown (stock or Clear spring)
No Want - Black, White, Green, Gray, rest of heavies...

Using the Universal Switch Tester has been a very enlightening experience and I'm glad I had a chance to be a part of the tour. Thank you Hashbaz for making it available!

Love your review. Wait till you try 62g springs on Clears. The springs on the ergoclears on the UST definitely feel different than 62g springs. There is less of a stick and the weight feels just right. Not too heavy but not too light.

Wait till you try 62g springs on Clears. The springs on the ergoclears on the UST definitely feel different than 62g springs. There is less of a stick and the weight feels just right. Not too heavy but not too light.

Are those Korean 62g springs? Where do you buy them? I've already been thinking that a weight partway between 55 and 80g with that big clear switch tactile bump would feel just about as good as an MX switch could ever be for me.

You can get quite a few different springs from originative.
