Let's see your gunssss... How many do you have now? I started less than 2 months ago and already picked up 3 guns: Sig P229, Sig P238, and CZ P-01. Pics to come.
Meh, another thing I want to get into ><
Meh, another thing I want to get into ><
I buy, sell and trade handguns all the time. I haven't recently though. I'll post some pics when I get home.
Here's my daily carry. Smith & Wesson 5906. Sold my Glock 17 to get her. I don't know which is my favorite between this one and my Beretta 92FS. Yes, I shoot 9mm.

me too.
but getting a CC license in California is damn near impossible iirc.
I used to have a Benelli M-1 Super 90 Defense 12 gauge semi-automatic combat shotgun. I went trap/skeet shooting with it and caught nothing but hell when I popped off 6-7 rounds in 1.5 seconds. They didn't like me there very much.
Yea, it was, super light, super rad, ultra powerful, but a big responsibility for a guy like me that moves a lot. A hand gun or anything smaller than a combat shotgun would be better because it isn't so visible all the time.
Say hello to my little friend - the Sig P238. I'm getting new grips to replace the ones that came with it.
Very nice. Sig is probably the only other manufacturer next to Beretta and S&W I would go with for reliability.
I want!Show Image(http://www.ubertireplicas.com/foto/engraved_int/carbines/yellowboy/1866%20YELLOWBOY%20Standard%20H%20E%20big.jpg)
How would you like to be the one who has to say they got shot by a Hello Kitty AR-15? That's badass.
I don't want to be shot with an AR-15 - Hello Kitty or any other kind.

This CZ P01 is pretty good - it's NATO certified for reliability.

I would only include classic SIGs in that. These American designed SIGs are not that great. Glops also face planted with Gen4. S&W has its duds as well.
I carried my P01 for 2 years. Displaced my P239 from my belt. (Attachment) 52855[/ATTACH]
I don't know a thing about guns, nor would I ever get one.
But if I ever did get one it would be an FAL, with the good ol' wooden stock and handle.Show Image(http://www.abusivemotorsports.com/guns/FAL05.jpg)

Am I the only person slightly weirder out by non-laymen calling firearms "guns" (like a few people in this thread)? Not criticising it, but to me a gun is either a shotgun, or it's a piece of field artillery or something mounted on a boat/aircraft. Calling pistols/rifles guns feels bizarre to me.
Guns and keyboards. Do these two mix?
I use my keyboard to immerse myself into an in-game gun wielding lunatic. So why not mix it with some real world boomsticks?

^thanks!!
I just had a crazy idea. How about gun for keyboard trade or keyboard for gun trade?
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gunNot sure I agree with the gun definition there. "Gun" has smoothbore connotations to me, except in certain circumstances (e.g. machinegun).
A gun is a gun.

A firearm is more specific.
That's how I've always looked at it.

Hey- time to necro this topic! I went shooting for the first time about two weeks ago, and had a good time. I want to get a .22 handgun for target shooting. You guys have any preferences? I really like the looks of the Chiappa 1911-22, but some reviews worry me.
You might want to look at the Ruger SR22 also since it's been getting pretty good reviews and priced pretty good I think at $299.
For an EDC, I highly recommend a Kershaw Skyline 1760. It's cheap, $35-$40 for the regular one (I have the one in the picture, and yes I know it's probably not real damascus), has pretty good steel (there is better steel but you'd pay a lot more), it comes very sharp, and stays sharp.Nice Skyline, Beast! I've ordered a Skyline with blue scales. Not damascus though. Yours probably IS real damascus. I don't know of any other way to get that pattern. Acid etching only has that affect... on damascus steel. ;-)Show Image(http://images.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/kershaw/images/KS1760DAM.jpg)
Whoa, we have shooters @ Geekhack too?
I have a S&W M&P 9mm, and used to shoot once a week. I'm taking a break from firearms, as I'm currently obsessed with target archery.
Recently picked up a Spikes Jolly Roger lower, gonna go rescue it from jail on Saturday. Slowly copping pieces for my AR piece by piece. It's getting there, though. Just gotta start saving for a nice upper now. For those that shoot a lot with their AR, should I go Noveske, or BCM?
megnin, your keyboard collection is rivaled only by your arsenal. Thanks! :D

Welcome to the club!! I've just started playing w/ guns earlier this year too. Yeah, I was a little nervous the first time I shot and it was just a .22. My friend at work who is a gun nuts got me started. He said I should start out w/ a .22 which I totally agree. You can focus on learning the basics without having to worry about the recoil.
@VesperSAINT, CZ guns are awesome. I'm looking at CZ Rami and CZ Duty - can't decide which one.
I have a S&W Sigma 9mm. It's my first gun and I just purchased it a week ago will post pictures when I get a chance.
edit: When you guys first started shooting did it scare the crap out of you?

@BucklingSpring, that's a pretty nice grouping :D
Nice wheel gun... a nice guy let me shoot his S&W 686 revolver (first time) at the range last week with an aimpoint on it and it was a blast. I never gave revolvers a second look before but after shooting one I might look into getting one possibly.

I also have a CZ 75 SP01 shadow and love it. It got a decent accuracy and very very very reliable for the price.
But for accuracy, I never shot any hand gun better than my 686 Comp. This revolver is made for accuracy and it's very easy to do well with it.

Man I didnt realize we had so many CZ owners on this forum....
Seriously.. I live in Florida, and it seems like no one ****ing owns CZ's here. I think I'm the only person who freaking owns one in this state.
Seriously.. I live in Florida, and it seems like no one ****ing owns CZ's here. I think I'm the only person who freaking owns one in this state. Lol! I think this is the first time I've been in a conversation with so many people that own CZ's and appreciates them like I do... This is wonderful. CZ FTW! Sorry for the CZ fandom... I enjoy the exclusiveness of the CZ, but sometimes you just need someone to empathize with you on the beauty of these things. Unfortunately, that's hard to come by when the world has been taken over by polymer framed striker fire pistols (not that there's anything wrong with them).
I'm in FL so that makes 2 of us :) But every time I go to the range the guy who checks my gun always says "CZ! nice gun...". They have hundreds of guns on display but only 4-5 CZs.
JPM is a glock head :p but he also has many other pistols & rifles.
HK and their crazy prices. .45 w/ threaded barrel is nice though. But for the price I'd rather get a Wilson Combat.
I'm more of a Les Baer fan...
I went into the sporting goods store on Thursday, and I saw one of these in the case. What has been seen, cannot be unseen. Only $2499.99
So JPM is making his own guns now
It's unfortunate that I'm too broke to own a high quality 1911 or even be able to shoot .45 ACP on a regular basis :( UGH... makes me so sad... but my CZ helps soothe that pain.
I want a nice 1911 .... probably too rich for my blood for the likes of a wilson, Les, or nighthawk... But I have my eyes set on getting a nice Springfield TRP if I can.
I like Springfield TRP for a 1911 too - more affordable option compared to the other ones. But I also like Sig 220 .45 ACP. Can't decide which one I like better. One is full size w/ threaded barrel. The other one is compact with nice shiny stainless steel.

Holy ****.. you guys think exactly as I do... I was going to say that I would also rather settle with a Springfield TRP or Sig 220. They are great value and have the track record to back it up. It's nice to finally meet people who have similar taste in guns as I do. Lol!
On another note, I just received a 1000 round bulk box of Magtech 9mm today ~ Shooters' gold ~ Sharing with my bro :D
Versper mind me asking how much you paid for that 1K rounds?
the trp is quite nice the professional is even better the tightest custom I've ever felt better than any Wilson, Baer or nighthawk. I currently manage a gun store so I see a lot of stuff. From supergrade Wilson's to high points. Sig makes a nice gun well made reliable etc... Personally if I needed a gun based on reliability I'd get a glock gen 3 its pretty near indestructible its also made with like 35 parts that are interchangeable between models. Beretta would be my last choice I'd rather have a taurus . And kimbers aren't my fave either their customer service blows as does Beretta . I carry a seecamp in 32 its reliable and to be honest I live in the burbs
my go to gun for home defence is a USP 9mm I love my hk but I don't really recommend them though cause they are a bit cost prohibitive . Just my 2cts
Versper mind me asking how much you paid for that 1K rounds?
$217 shipped to front door. Keep in mind that this is 9mm 115gr FMJ. Great thing about Magtech is, I believe, the shells are reload-able. Too bad I don't have the hardware to do so.
Thanks for letting me know...
 Did I overpay???
 Did I overpay???
No for Factory New Brass... that is what you are going to pay.
I usually buy reloads since I will be mostly plinking and dont care about reloading the brass..
I just bought some reloads at a gunshow this weekend for $249 for 1500 rds....
If you dont mind shooting reloads, this place has some decent prices:
http://www.freedommunitions.com/
Ooo~ Thanks for the info. I'll have to do some research to see how my PCR will deal with reloads. Damn... $249 for 1500 rounds... that's like a $50 bux discount. That'd be really hard to turn down.
http://www.dansammo.com/
dans a great guy and he has pretty nice prices on ammo
also check out sportsmans guide
right now dan has some trade in glock 22 in 40 cal for 369.00
pretty good price
im not sure of mag cap but if you live in a free state it does not matter
40 is not my favorite caliber (too much recoil) by far but it is readily avail in most places
and these are gen 2-3 glocks
also jpm804 i notice you live in the bay area
how do you get around mag cap issues and the weird gun laws in california
i don't honestly think i could bring more than 2-3 guns i own now to cali
ive shipped to ca
its a pain in the ass
but its doable
the bullet button is a bit much
the regulations in ca are pretty silly
they just make it harder for law abiding citizens to own guns
to my knowledge nfa guns are basically unavailable
and ccw is out of the question
pretty much all my guns with exception of a couple revolvers and 1911s are non cal legal
also you forgot to mention that all california guns must pass a drop test
so no modern colt single action replicas are allowed etc...
also dont all guns in ca require a safety as well
i went to college in sf/oakland
i know the weather is awesome
but ca is a bit fruity @ times
just out of curiosity i looked the list up
this stuff is retarded
http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/
so how much does a sse set up cost??
it looks kinda silly
but if it works to get by the bs rules do it
pretty sure my calico would never be allowed
even though its pre awb
But I have my eyes set on getting a nice Springfield TRP if I can.
what do transfers cost??
But I have my eyes set on getting a nice Springfield TRP if I can.
So do I. Actually not just eyes... I ordered a spanking new SA TRP Stainless couple of weeks ago.
Unfortunately I have no ETA but the distributor said it may be this year... (Or not... Big sigh)
Dunno why Springfield Armory ships so few.
nothing wrong with the m&p the only issue ui have with them is the weird trigger reset
its not tactile i have heard that this can be trained or fixed with a new trigger kit
I live in wyoming, which is basically gun country. Despite that growing up, I never much cared for firearms other than having an airgun as a kid and target practice with a .22 rifle. I've only shot a larger cartridge once, and I don't have a clue about the caliber.
I'd like to get into it, and I know there are a couple of places around where I live that do gun related stuff, but there are a couple things i'm worried about.
Firstly i'm wary that since I don't have much experience, a lot of people will just consider me another CoD nerd who thinks gunz r kewl and treat me with disdain.
Second is cash. Between being a father of two that holds a job with only moderate pay and no benifits, we don't have a lot of disposable income. Despite this I have fairly high product standards, and am rarely happy with the cheapest item I can find, and don't mind paying for something of higher quality (IE mech keyboards) if it is actually worth the increase and will last.
Firstly i'm wary that since I don't have much experience, a lot of people will just consider me another CoD nerd who thinks gunz r kewl and treat me with disdain.
but my fave is the single six rock solid cheap and really ****ing accurate
As for caliber debate... don't bring a pistol to a gun fight.
There are other firearms/traps that will do the job better for huntingIn Canada, it is also strictly forbidden by law and a serious criminal offense. By long guns I meant rifle and shotgun.
Here's another option - Don't go to the fight :-)Definitely. You've already won by not fighting.
I'm now seriously thinking of selling my hand guns. Thanks to your video.
but my fave is the single six rock solid cheap and really ****ing accurate
Some say Ruger is a lesser brand in term of quality. I'm no expert, maybe on the larger calibers. (Between a GP100 or a S&W. For me the SW choice was obvious.)
One thing I know for sure I'm totally sold to their 22's. No wonder they sold millions of 10/22 rifles and Mark I,II,III pristols. I own one of each. These things are made to last forever, especially the Mark I,II,III pistols which can be passed onto generations for "centuries" :-)
Ruger revolvers are pretty much the best revolvers one can purchase. There is definitely a misconception that they are lower quality because of their price and finish. The fit and finish of a Ruger might not be quite as flashy and smooth as a S&W but their reliability and durability are unmatched. Ruger is able to keep costs down due to them owning their own casting divisions, Unicast and Pine Tree Casting. They are some of the best metal machinists in the country. Where other firearm manufacturers subcontract out the machining process Ruger does it in house.
the only issue with the mk2/3 is they are both a ***** to clean they are as pleasurable as chewing glass to field strip
How about this humongous .22 from Beretta w/ full length rail on top? It's on my do not buy list. I am pretty sure I mentioned it before. Friend bought one after playing with my MKII and had to have a .22. The trigger sucks, very plasticky, and overall not that well made. Friend sold his pretty soon and bought a MKII.
What accessories should I get before picking up the pistol. I'd probably order the holster and ammo with the handgun to match them, but I'd also need a handgun safe, and i'm thinking of getting the "ultimate clip loader" as well. Quite a few people have said the action (is that correct? I'm referring to the trigger pull mechanism) on the MKIII is unimpressive and that a looser trigger is preferred, but i'll decide that after I fire it. Anything else?Buy some 22 snap caps (though you can use fired casing for this). Dry firing .22s may damage the firing pin. If it doesn't have a cut out on the barrel, then it'll peen the barrel and damage the chamber.
"PISTOLS can be dryfired without damage to the firing pin or other components as long as the magazine
is inserted."
Same thing with a holster unless you plan on shooting competition or some training which requires drawing from a holster.

Also that is a good suggestion with snap caps....good cheap practice.
Did you see this Ruger MKIII 22/45 Lite? I think maybe I should have gotten that instead of SR22.Show Image(http://www.ruger.com/products/2245Lite/images/3900.jpg)
So I went down to the local "tactical" store, dry fired a couple handguns including the SR22 and the MKIII. Handled a couple others including the Ruger Single-10 22 revolver.
First thought: Realizing I don't know sh*t about firearms
Second thought: I liked the .22 revolver much, much more than I thought I would. It certainly seems easier to "get into" than a semi-auto. The salesguy was freindly and very helpful. Said he personally owned a single-10 and has put "Thousands of rounds through it. Hell i've been pumping them through when I could barely fit them in the chamber because it was so filled with dirt and ****, even though that's probably gun abuse" (unquote)
haha anyways, I was much less taken with the MKIII than I would have thought. That magazine disconnect seems like a real PITA. I guess once you get used to it, it wouldn't be a big deal but it was a big pain when I was trying to dry-fire it.
I liked the SR22 a lot more than I thought I would as well, not only the feel but the looks.
One of the guys suggested I take a hunter's safety course to get the basics down, even though I plan to do no hunting in the forseeable future. There's also a shooting range that *may* have somebody who is willing to teach the basics. Both things i'll check out in the near future.
Threaded barrel? So I can attach a suppressor to shoot through my mountain of paperwork it took to get a suppressor?
You have that option if one day you get a job as an assassin.
Why do people have a daily carry gun? What the hell do you do for a living?
I purchased a Springfield XD about 3 weeks ago and now I am hooked. I think this is more addicting than keyboards. I have a question for you guys. Which one of these would you select and why, CZ-USA P07 Duty, Sig P226, or FNH FNX-9? Let me know what you think because these are three of the guns I'm looking at purchasing next. I don't have money to buy all three so I can only afford to get one but let me know what you guys think.

No, that is the first time that I have heard of it. I will have to look into that but I have been reading that the P226 had problems with the trigger pull. I was wondering if anyone who has one of these could make this statement true or false.
Thanks for the tip I will take a look at that site.

I never really got the whole "french are cowards" thing. If you look at the simple record of victory/defeat, the french certainly have a better track record than most countries and always have been a main world power.
As Archer says "So the next time you're feeling adventurous, walk into a bar in Algiers and call a Legionnaire a putain de merde"
But is there any country (Vatican excluded) with lame SpecOps?
^^ the back wall is awfully close for safety. Don't you think?

Yeh... I'm just broke so I can't afford all the nice things many others on this forum can. I should really go back to school or find a job lollllllllllll.
On another note, does anyone here own a Bravo D.O.S. IWB holster? I'm thinking of buying one but can't decide if I want this or something with leather/kydex like a Crossbreed Supertuck. I'm currently using a ****ty cheap holster from Amazon it's just too thick, hard to get on, and it collapses the moment I take my gun out.Show Image(http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0165/8068/products/DSC_8804_grande.jpg?0)

For what gun? I got IWB holster from http://holsterpro.com/products.php (model 577) for my Sig P238 and totally love it.
I really don't like Kydex. I guess you Floridians need to worry more about being wet all day.
first of all that cz is pretty big for carry
and any carry gun gets wear lots of it
i personally think alloy or stainless is the only way to carry in fl
ive seen lots of guns w/ rust from carry here in fl
i carry a seecamp
http://www.seecamp.com/
so im kinda bias towords micro guns for carry
i like to forget i have it
if i can go phone keys gun and bolt out the door it works
ive tried a glock 27, a hk compact etc..
all too big
i think today the biggest thing i would carry is a 38 snubby
just my two cents
I'm getting this CZ Rami for concealed carry when I can find it. I went to a gun show last weekend and found one. I filled out paperwork and everything before realizing there are 2 different versions (decocker, safety). Well, I almost bought the wrong gun.
I want the decocker version so I don't have to remember to take the safety off. That's also the reason I want a Sig 220 instead of a 1911. They're both about the same size & price.
I am unconvinced @ Shield. It is more like 1.5 stack. I like my Kahrs more. Then again, I never carried my Kahr when I could carry something bigger (my carry gun got larger over time). YMMV of course, since I don't care about printing (people really don't notice).
I'm getting mine for free from GrabAGun. I've been putting in my name for the drawing everyday.

I am going to buy very soon...leaning towards a soft-shooting 9mm with high capacity that I can CCW. I plan to get my permit regardless of whether I choose to CCW, to help protect my rights. I'm leaning towards Sig Sauer or HK. Love everything I've heard about the P226 although I haven't had a chance to shoot one yet. I see a couple folks here have them...I may just be joining you :)
I think you can't really go wrong with either. They are both amazing companies that provide quality firearms. I personally think the P226 is on the large side for a CCW but other than that, it's an almost flawless pistol. You also have to decide if you want an all metal pistol (Sig Sauer) or a polymer frame (most HK's). I personally don't find all steel pistols to be too heavy (carry a CZ 75B PCR) but the size is the most important (especially width).
I'll be looking forward to see what you purchase and how you end up liking them :D:D:D
Nice collections guys! I live in Canada and we are very limited in what we can own, and what we can do with them. Not to mention they are pretty expensive. I am jealous of all the hardware you guys to the south are allowed to own.
(Attachment Link)
Here is my Remington 700 XCR in .308. It has a stainless action, fluted stainless barrel, and adjustable trigger I don't think I have owned a more accurate rifle. There's a Robinson Arms XCR-M in .308. The XCR-M is non-restricted in Canada, meaning I can hunt and shoot pretty much anywhere. Restricted firearms, like an AR's or handguns, can only be fired at an approved range. Most semi-auto rifles are restricted in Canada, except hunting rifles of course. This thing gets a lot of attention at the range and everyone likes to shoot it. I can't say enough about this gun - it has been flawless.
(Attachment Link)
These are my S&W 686 .357 mag - it has the shortest barrel allowed in Canada - any shorter of a barrel is just too dangerous for a Canadian to own lmao. I shoot .38 quite a bit because its a little cheaper here, and the wife can shoot it, but isn't that interested really. A sig P220 in .45; I also have the .22 conversion kit for it because .45 is pretty expensive here. The Sig has been a flawless gun. I highly recommend a Sig, but what I have heard its a little bulky for CCW, but of course I have no experience with that.
And my stainless Colt series 70. I just bought the Colt this month and only have a couple hundred rounds down the pipe yet. Took me a long time to find it as Colts are pretty hard to come by in Canada - and damn expensive when you do. I bought this with plans to modify it for IPSC, but now I'm not sure I can butcher it - it seems to be pretty rare even in the US.
BTW this is my first post with any pics so if they turn out too crappy I will take some better ones later and post them.
EDIT: not sure what happened to this post. can't seem to fix it.

Oh thanks for that info...I think that is going to seal the deal for Sig with me. I went to the range yesterday and I was dead-on with every all-metal gun I fired. But when I shot my buddy's polymer S&W .40, I really had trouble staying on target. I find I am more accurate with the all-metal ones (probably because I am a bit recoil-sensitive). I will let you know soon...I almost bought an SP2022 yesterday, which the rangemaster had recommended, but I just wasn't sure. I've heard such great things about the P226...I'm worried if I don't go the full step up I may be disappointed :)
man being able to own so many guns must be manly as ****..
i'm born in a country where gum is illegal, go figure
Which grips did it come with and what serial number range? You can guestimate the built year by comparing the serial VS the list on sigforum.com.
I am not sure if you've check the gun for wear before you bought it. On the SIGs, you have to watch the wear about 1-1.5" back on the left side rail. Most will wear away the color coating but stop there. Some will wear through the anodized layer, which will deteriorate the frame pretty quickly if it gets through. The proper maintenance is to grease the slide rails, the barrel lockup parts in the front of the barrel and the locking surfaces, and the locking block on the frame (where the barrel meet the block, you can tell by the finish wear). Oil is fine everywhere else.
Any. I use white lithium grease and Mobile 1. Lube is lube as long as you have enough. YMMV.
@jpm. A wet SIG is a happy SIG. You can see I run my range SIGs on the wet side. That SIG has lube soaked into the anodized layer as well. E2 is ok, but I really don't like the short trigger. It makes SA pull reach way too short for me. One thing I don't like about the E2 is that it leaves the slide catch really exposed. I never manipulate the slide catch except for locking the slide open manually. I guess not being flush has its advantages since people seem to ride their thumb on it unconsciously, causing it not to lock on empty.
Looking at the list here it looks like my gun was made in 1986 - damn that's old :\

And yes it's the exact same grip you show above. Thanks for the advice folks!
No rail - I figured that would be kind of good if I decide to CCW (less chance of snag).
Most likely uou got a nice West German Sig... Should have matching proof marks on the frame and slide..
Nice Pick ups KL... nice score on the WG P226 and the M&P22 ... let me know how that M&P shoots since I have been curious on how they perform.
LD - nice sigs ;D
Finally got my first .45 1911, had been looking for one for awhile since they are hard to come by in cali, but picked her up this weekend and couldnt be happier... Unfortunately I didnt stock up on any .45 ammo before I got it and now have to wait to get ammo to shoot it. :(
Springfield TRP Operator - Half RailShow Image(http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc467/jpm804/Pistols%20and%20Rifles/DPP_0503.jpg)
Didn't know they started making full length rail again.

Didn't know they started making full length rail again.
They did stop making them sometime in 2004ish. I didn't know they started again after that 0__0
Now that you seen it I am gonna edit. Me? 1911s? nooo ;) /George Lucased Vader no.
Edit: Ahaha! ;) I am not exactly sure what it was called. It is something Operator (not the GI one). It is a lower model than TRP but more rare. I haven't seen another.

Edit squared: Full length dust cover is HEAVY. Very little muzzle movement. Probably too heavy for something people actually strap on and use.
You lucky SOB lol. LAff want!
Haven't yet...hopefully this weekend (trying to get my buddy to join me)!
Guns on GeekHack??? I had no idea...

More to follow...
Well, it's always been a franken-gun. Previously I had Essential Arms upper and lower receivers with a Bushmaster Barrel and a Del-ton bcg and lower parts kit. Oh and I was using a surefire drop in rail.
Now I have PSA upper, lower, and lower parts kit and a Core15 MPI bolt with full auto carrier and a Midwest two-piece free float rail. Same Bushy barrel, 14.5" with pinned YHM flash hider. LMT fixed rear sight. Magpul stock and magazines. I also added the VTAC flashlight mount, had VLTOR before but it was not offset and stuck out too far for me. Now I just ened to settle on an optic. I have had an AimPoint on it before but I sold it off and haven't replaced it.
Yeah, PSA has ridiculous deals, you feel like you have to spend money. I need to stop receiving their email specials.
Thanks a lot guys...the LAST thing I need is to add an AR to my collection :D
Have you looked at the E2 grips .. one of my favorite grips for the P226/p229's now. Slims the grip down a bit and for me makes it fit like a glove.. also like the rougher grip feel on it.Show Image(http://thrumylens.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/IMG_0058-Edit.jpg)
How is that Core15 BCG working out for you? I was looking get one since they were in stock recently and priced well?
Any optics you have on a short list now?

I actually did buy one of these grips...was about to try to install it tonight but found out I need to order a new hammer spring according to this guide (mine has the old, long hammer spring):
http://files.kensmith.de/Manual_for_installing_the_P226_E2_Grip_Kit_EN.pdf
It's definitely sexy though...anyone know where I can order a new P226 hammer spring?

Honestly, I haven't even shot it yet with the new Core15 BCG. But I am very impressed with it as far as fit and finish are concerned. Plus I was drawn to the fact that it was reasonably priced, MPI tested, and most importantly in stock. I wanted a heavier full auto carrier as well which was another reason for selling my old one. BCGs are hard to find right now it seems. I was gonna hold out for a PSA bcg but I got tired of waiting and they were saying in their arfcom thread that supply was severely back logged.
As for optics, I used to have an AimPoint M2. I liked it but decided I wanted to sell it and apply funds toward an AimPoint Micro. Well, the money went elsewhere, you know how it goes. I also had a Primary Arms Aimpoint clone which I was very pleased with, I just decided I wanted the real thing. I really like the AimPoint PRO optic they have out now. Great deal I think. It's bigger than the micro but so much more affordable. I might just run irons for a while and save my pennies.
Oh and nice dissy. I like those a lot.
Oh and I got to play with this toy yesterday. Sig 522 SBR with open bolt full auto conversion and AAC can. It's nice to know a class 3 dealer ;)Show Image(http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae156/jbedwell81/IMG_20121129_203629.jpg)
That is very sweet. I am thinking that if I got a rifle, I would likely go for a Sig 522 or 556.
It's complete - thanks, JPM!!

It's just an airsoft replica of a Les Baer. I can't afford the real one. :p
They look awesome. I thought they were real when I first saw them.
Going to my 3rd IDPA match tomorrow. I'm going to take that trophy this time :D
I knew it!! ;) I was going to ask where are the orange tips but I didn't. I thought maybe they were some really expensive airsoft guns. Some of them are $2000-$3000 or more.
Good looking knife!! Looked up the price  That's one expensive knife.
Any info on Round 4 keycaps?? I'm still waiting for mine.

Back from the match. I was not too hot today. Kept missing the poppers. No trophy this time. :(
What an adorable dog.Bentley is one of my Min-Pins. She is very sweet. The others are adorable, too. ;-)

Anybody been to any gun shows lately? I hear the lines are out the door.
I think it will be craaaazy at the show. It's been crazy where I live. I couldn't even buy a box of ammo at Walmart or gun ranges. I stopped at a gun range trying to get some ammo last week (they didn't have any 9mm) and noticed that their rifle wall that was usually full was pretty much empty.
I never would have guessed there was a gun thread here. I'll have to post some pics the next time I go into the safe. My constantly growing collection

Nice collection also, would love to see pics of that LMT for sure :D
Folks, I am looking to make a couple more purchases soon. Do you have any recommendations for me?
I am leaning towards a Sig P229 .40sw and a Glock 19 9mm. I wanted to get a Mini-14 but all the rifles that are likely to get banned are becoming VERY scarce and expensive in my area.
I already have the P226 9mm and the M&P22 which I am thus far very happy with.

I'd go with the G19. Since you're already invested in a 9mm, you will be able to use that ammo in both weapons. And 9mm is cheaper to shoot than .40S&W, making more practice shooting possible, since dollars spent on 9mm rounds will net you more ammo than the same amount spent on .40. We could debate here all day the merits of each of those calibers, but in the end, I consider them to be equivalent.
If you want a bigger caliber, my money is on a .45ACP. Forget about expansion, fast/light vs. slow/heavy, temporal cavitation, etc. All modern hollowpoints will expand reliably in modern firearms. At the end of the day, in a defensive handgun, you either want lots of rounds to put downrange into your intended target (9mm), or a bullet that makes larger holes in the target, thus increasing blood loss and incapacitation. The .40S&W was designed as a compromise caliber, to fill both of these roles simultaneously. And while it does both to an extent, it does neither as well as the original.
Beyond a .45, I want a 12-ga shotgun or a centerfire rife of .30 caliber or better.
No matter what detractors may say, a well-placed shot from a 9mm will stop an assailant just as effectively as a well-placed shot from a .40 or .45. "Spray and pray" is much less effective.
From my own experience owning (now sold) and shooting a .40, I can tell you that the recoil is exactly as jpm described. "Snappy." I always use that exact term when I'm describing the recoil of a .40 to my friends. When shooting, the muzzle of the handgun recoils sharply upward, causing you to lose sight picture and increasing recovery time from shot-to-shot (aimed).
The 9mm and .45 both have less perceived recoil, to me, than a .40. I'm guessing that's because the recoil of those calibers seems to be directed back into the wrist and arm, rather than causing the above muzzle flip.
FWIW, the .40 I owned was a Glock 23. Sold it and bought my Beretta 92FS.

people-lines and car-lines at the GUNZ SHOW.
Can anyone make any recommendations for me? I've been reading online but the amount of information is insane.
Here's my situation:
I prefer to NOT own a gun: I really do NOT want one. But with the way the world is going I'd like to have something to defend my home/family if all of a sudden the economy came to a screeching halt (enough so that overnight US dollars became fancy toilet paper.)
I've read online of all the guns that are available and it seems to me my preference would swing towards a single shot rifle. The attributes that appeal to me are increased chances of reliability/durability, easy to clean, light weight (I don't care about this but if gasoline becomes hard to obtain I will probably change my mind), and for whatever reasons some owners seem to think they are more accurate - although I'm not sure why that would be.
Am I on the right track? If I am, what ammo would you recommend? I want something that when shot will not injury anyone who may be behind them. I've heard the terminology "bird shot" ... but I don't know if that is restricted to a specific caliber, etc. For that matter I'd ideally like to use the same ammo for home defense as for shooting squirrels/raccoons/maybe even deer for food.
As for why I don't think I'd like owning a gun - I'm not a fan of loud noise, especially the kind that can cause long term hearing damage.
I live in Illinois where silencers and suppressors are illegal - which if they weren't - would probably make me less hesitant in buying a gun.
If you don't really WANT a gun, but feel you need to own ONE for home defense/SHTF scenario, I would recommend you get nothing else than a Remington 870 12-gauge pump-action shotgun. It's versatile enough to be suitable for home defense, and will also do the job quite nicely for hunting small to medium game. It's extremely reliable, even if you don't maintain it very well. It holds more than one round, in case follow-up shots are needed. And the variety of ammunition is quite wide, everything from bird loads to buckshot to 1-oz rifled slugs.
And I don't know if there's any SOUND in the world more intimidating than the sound of a pump shotgun being racked to load a round. The sound of that alone would be enough to drive away most would-be attackers.

Still in progress (when is it ever really finished?) but it shoots very well.
how's everyone's ammo availability doing locally? it seems 9mm doesn't exist in central virginia, along with the other common calibers. 45 is still relatively easy to come by, with the occasional box of 40 s&w.
^^^ thats a beaut...
First IDPA match is in March. There is a USPSA open practice next month I might go with some people from my safety class...
You werent kidding when you said I would get addicted, moving and shooting is so much fun,,,,

My advice is to not buy now unless you absolutely have to...I am really glad I bought before all this crazy stuff started happening. Wait until the end of the year or so, when everything calms down.
crap, just when i want to buy a gun all the craziest went and bought all the ammo.

Lol.
Anyway, back to ammo, this whole situation is why I highly recommend owning at least one .22LR weapon. That's the ammo which will always be cheapest, most available and the guns hardly ever come under fire from the grabbers. Is it what you want for self-defense? Probably not, but it's certainly adequate and better than nothing.

Does anyone really think it's a coincidence that all these school shootings are happening right now? The gov't wants our guns, and they think they can gain sympathy for new anti-gun laws by claiming they are doing it to protect kids.
Wow.... This thread is picking up...
On a side note ... Check your walmarts, I just got some ammo. They did have a 3 box limit but I cant complain since I got what I wanted.

Every time some unfortunate event happens, you'll see the usual suspects calling for more strict gun controls. Every time, for better or worse, the gun owning public will go into a buying frenzy in fear of not being able to buy certain items. When you try ban something that people care about (yes you can argue that it is gun industry brainwashing), it will generate some emotional response. Hence IMO, to stop people rushing out and buy 10 guns and stockpiling ammo they don't need, stop focusing on the guns. Banning guns is like putting bandaid on a gaping wound. Although, superficially it seems like a solution... until you take into account that there are ~300 million guns in American hands. Until you're willing to actually forcibly take guns out of private ownership, no bans will actually do anything. Then, that's the tyranny that many 2A people like to harp about.
Until our government is willing to do things for the long term, instead of just crap for show that does nothing but to annoy people, I don't think we'll have a real solution to reduce mass gun violence. The stronger people push for gun ban, the stronger the gun lobby pushes back. Who have the deeper pockets, advocacy groups or industry backed lobby? It just line the pockets of politicians, and nothing gets done.
If you look at the last few gun tragedies you will see a common thread -- not guns, but people with mental problems getting their hands on a gun.
No matter what gun control you put in place, it will have no impacts on 1 & 2 results. They'll still have access to guns, legal or not.
Well no, more gun control means more guns in the hands of criminals...Except every real life example would indicate the opposite is true. I know reality isn't your strong point, but c'mon now.
No matter what gun control you put in place, it will have no impacts on 1 & 2 results. They'll still have access to guns, legal or not.
That's not actually true, as most criminally-owned firearms are ones that were originally legally owned but then stolen or otherwise procured by criminals. If you restrict A (legally owned firearms) then you restrict the supply to B (criminally owned firearms).
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
I mentioned this book in another thread, but I'm going to recommend it here too:

^ Where is that?
^ Where is that?
Germany, but that alone wont tell you much...
Most regions here are pretty ok or at least "average", but some (usually the ones with a lot immigrants) are not.
To put things into perspective: In some city people with immigration background are responsible for >50% of the crime.
Well, I live in a city with a lot immigrants, and yes, I carry a gun on daily base, saved my ass twice already (just had to pull it...).

So, in this case, more gun control did not equal less violent crime. In fact, it makes a criminal out of the person who would abide by the laws of the land, but needs to carry a gun for protection. Calling for police would not have been effective, and had he not been carrying a gun, TheSoulhunter may have been another victim of violence.
Also, it illustrates that one does not need a gun to commit acts of violence. When the populace is unarmed, criminals can prey on their victims with knives, clubs, or brute force.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, TheSoulhunter.
I wish I could live in a world without the need to carry a gun, a world without the need for protection, a world without crime, but thats illusory...
As things are, my best chance is to be "supreme" or in worst case at least equal in in power compared to criminals, and that means I have to carry a gun!
I like it! It's like guns with keyboards instead of shoes with keyboards like they do at Reddit.
I'll just leave these here...
At the match yesterday. I did okay but couldn't hit anything more than 10 yards.

That looks like fun. I bet it's pretty hard to hit those moving targets.
I was shooting with CZ P01 at the match. I can't do 3 gun since all I have are pistols. I love to shoot steel targets. Too bad there aren't that many ranges with steel targets in my area. I'm planning to do steel challenge in a month or two.
Yeah, steel is definitely my favorite thing to shoot, I love the report from hitting it.
Well China's criminals are allowed to live too. Because people like you enable them to own guns so they can murder all the drug dealers.
In China, as in most modern countries, all the real criminals are very much free. The rest are created by the depressing statist societies and thrown in cages or shot. How civilized.
jpm probably wants one ^-^

Competitive shooting is really fun. I got into 3-Gun last year, can't wait for it to start up again this April. What handgun were you using there?
Here's me shooting a 3 gun match a few months ago. This was before I got my Glock 17L, haven't had a chance to shoot that in competition yet.

That looks like fun ComradeSniper.... love the use of the AK ( what model is that) and also would love to shoot a F/A AR on a course like that.
Defintely 3-gun is something I would like to get into later on....
What was your score for that day? Looks like you got back your CZ P01, hows its it running now. You did better than I think I could do...

My AK is an M10-762. Got it a little over a year ago, runs great.

Yup, got my CZ back but still thinking about that custom one :) Took me a couple of weeks to get used to shooting w/ it again.
My score was decent - middle of the pack. I would have had better score if I could hit those longer shots. But I think I'm shooting faster than before at closer range, actually seeing the sights and getting 0's. Just keep practicing and you'll get better. But ammo is hard to find :(

Its actually not that bad even with the Ultimak rail and optic installed.... probably one of myfavorite AK's... for a me a 74 should always comes with a triangle folding stock.. ;D Sadly in california I not allowed to fold it in its current configuration :(

Ok I got sick of waiting for the TRP. I canceled the order and used the the deposit to get a Ruger SR1911 instead.
The SR1911 is one nice .45 for the price. I'm glad I didn't spit 4 times its price for the TRP.
As I read in forums, not all SR1911 are the same. It worth to hand picked yours if the store allow you to do it.
Where I got mine, the guy allowed me to chose between 5 of them. I picked the one with the tightest slide. But I have my eyes set on getting a nice Springfield TRP if I can.

Looking good! I'm working toward a Mossberg 930 JM Pro right now, but after that I think I'm going to build an AR.
Sig 1911 .22. Basically a GSG .22. Pretty good .22 pistol but I need to put new sights on it.
I've heard those GSG's are nice.... hopefully it doesnt lead you to wanting a .45 1911...
Also how hard is it to find .22LR in your area?

It's practically impossible to find .22 ammo here. I was lucky to get 6 boxes of 225 rds Remington at Walmart. The guy who sold to me probably didn't work in that dept since they were supposed to sell only 3 per boxes per customer.
My next gun is going to be a Sig 220. I like .45 1911 but I don't want to deal with safety. Sig 220 feels like a 1911 - single stack .45, 8 rds, double action/single action.

Very nice! That's how a proper pistol should look. Kydex or Leather?A bit of both. It was my mother's main carry piece for about 10 years while she was in the police force so it's been through a lot, still runs great though. I really love it, if I had to choose just one handgun to own I think I would pick that.

I have an idea. How about a monthly GH shootout?
- Best 10 rounds from 15 yards
- Pistol only
- Iron sights only (no laser, no red dot)
- No bench
- No cheating
Submit your best target paper on a certain day of each month. Maybe we'll have a prize too. Of course we'll have to use the same target. I suggest this one.
snip
If it will make holes from 15 yds then you're in. You might want them to turn off AC & fan while you're shooting though.LMAO! Does using my basement as a range count? I'll count it out.
Must be official size. I think you can get image of Birchwood 6" target like above, print on paper and make sure it has 6" diameter.
Well, that day is my son's birthday, so I doubt I'd be able to sneak to the range. (the nearest is > hour away) Any reason it has to be the same day, vs in say a week range?
You don't have to shoot on that day. You just have to submit your best score on that day so winner can be announced the next Monday. You can start shooting right now. You can shoot as many time as you want and keep getting better score. Ammo cost will limit how many time you want to shoot.Ah, got it! Yeah, ammo cost (and availability) means I'm probably going to have 5 tries, and that's it.
Have you tested to see if it will make a hole from 15 yards? Not yet, I got a printable target today, so I was going to try and test it this evening or tomorrow.

Let's see your gun. Is it this one??I actually have a nerf gun quite like that. I have modified it to remove the air restrictions, allowed for the cylinder to come completely out, and placed some pennies behind the spring to decrease the spring travel distance, thus increasing the force. :PShow Image(http://a.tgcdn.net/images/products/zoom/f49f_nerf_strongarm_elite_blaster.jpg)

@aggiejy, if you're afraid of a Mark III, then you're gonna be more afraid of this Mark III with a PacLite barrel and a red dot ;D
I quickly realized how long 15 yards is when I was standing almost entirely across my basement, there is no way to do this with an airsoft pistol, sadly. I am not sure if a pellet pistol would make much difference, as the projectile is the same caliber IIRC.

That is NICE! I'm currently saving up for a stock "Hunter" model. But perhaps I should consider getting the base and modding instead? $700+ is a lot for a .22 though... especially if you're not into shooting competition. On the fence between that or a Kahr PM9.
Here is another MKIII you might like, a stock hunter with a millet red dot

Sounds good, Ruger makes good quality revolvers. I would go for the .357 version though, then you could shoot .357 if you wanted a little more energy but still be able to shoot .38SPC.

I shot perfectthats awesome tsangan
As other people have suggested go with a .357 over a .38 if you want a larger framed home defense gun.Other advantages of getting a .357 are they are usually heavier than a .38 which equates to less recoil when you shoot .38 through them.
You don't need any kind of adapter to shoot the smaller round. When I teach people to shoot I like to load both rounds and give the cylinder a spin so when they shoot they don't know which recoil they're getting. Teaches good trigger control if they're anticipating the shot
I ordered my custom CZ Pro Tek a few days ago and they told me it will be ready in June. :(
June is only a few weeks away. I'm actually more excited about Accu Shadow scheduled for July. I got to play with a Shadow Target at the range and it was awesome!! It had thin aluminum grips and fit perfectly in my hands. The trigger was very nice. Now I know what a good trigger feels like.

In the US, Glock is the most popular brand of pistol. Everybody I know that shoots has a Glock.
Nice collection! You have a really well-rounded collection which is what I want! My next purchase (forever away) is probably going to be a shotgun. Probably a Remington 870 for home defense because I can only afford to be practical. LOL!
A Remington, Mossberg, or Benelli will serve you well. The one in my picture is a Mossberg 590. I took it out to an outdoor range last Monday, and was shooting bowling pins @ 100 yards away with rifled slug, very accurate if you know your weapon (mine kicks high with its Knoxx Compstock, so I aim at the bottom of the hill to hit a target at the top).
You also have a wide selection of loads you can use, so it's hard to get bored with it.
If you buy the popular models, you'll have lots of accessories to choose from.

Oh I just noticed I forgot to answer your 1st question:
No the stocks are new. The person who sold me this revolver had rubber hogue grips on them. The original grips are long gone as the revolver is many decades old.
The hogue grips were very practical, but I didn't like the aesthetics, so I bought those new grips from Ebay. They came from Thailand from the crafter's market in Bangkok Thailand. They were hand carved by some Thai wood worker to mimic original Smith and Wesson grips. They did a decent job.
Pretty good looking!! I like the rear sight and the extended barrel on that 1911.
I was a little intimidated the first time I did USPSA too. But I got over it when I went to the 2nd match. I think IDPA is more practical but USPSA is more fun. IDPA is perfect for someone who wants to practice conceal carry skills. USPSA is about how fast you can shoot while still being somewhat accurate.
It is fun. Many people get hooked after the first time. You don't have to be good. You just have to be safe.
ComradeSniper - how far were the targets in the last section of your video when you shooting your AR? I am jealous of the wide open area you get to shoot those matches... Also nice to see the AK get some action ;D

That's really pretty rare to see in the city. In rural areas sure. Same goes for just about every other Soutwestern and Southern state for that matter.
Now you have no excuse not to do 3 gun.
Hell .... i'll like to be able to shoot 1-gun for now ..hahahaha
where are those CZ's pics I have been waiting for ????
I was supposed to get a CZ Protek last month but haven't heard anything about it. They told me I would get a CZ Accu Shadow this month but we'll see...

I know how you feel, been waiting on a Mossberg 930 JM Pro for a few months now.
At least I should have all the parts I need for my new AR build by the end of the week!
just bought my first .22lr rifle (marlin 795). They said everyone needs at least ONE 22lr, so why not? :) can't wait to shoot it. The best part is California's 10 day waiting period before you can pick it up :D!!
It looks sooooooooooooooooooooo cute:)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/j7TK5zv.jpg)

I was looking at the Mossberg 930 JM also, but found a used benelli m4 for a good price considering the times...
What are the specs on the AR build?
Actually your correct, its a 870 which I just replaced the fore end and stock with some magpul parts..

Must be nice being able to fire a shotgun at a shooting range. Most places around here don't allow it.but you can burn some sinners as a compensation!
Can't believe I sold this. :-[ I miss it all the time now.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/KfhKKTXl.jpg)
Here's the new AR! Running only 45 degree sights on it until I can afford an optic, but that won't be very long.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/M0pydsd.jpg)

That's Nice comrade.... I really do like the new CMR handguard's especially the 14" version. Did you build the upper yourself? what optics you have in mind for this rifle?
Also I do like the large latch BCMgunfighter handle the more I use it... I had been using the medium version on my other rifles but decided to use the large on my last build and I kinda like the larger size... My new favorite is the rainerarms/atxs charging handle but not sure most people want to pay that price for a charging handle. But I do find it easier to manipulate then the BCM, but the BCM one is no slouch.
Weapon Outfitters put my upper together, I only built the lower.
Planning on putting a Leupold VXR 1.25-4 on it, I've become a big fan of low power magnified optics after playing with a few different setups that friends have.
I wanted to get the Rainier charging handle but like you said, $80 is a lot for a charging handle, and I don't really care about ambidexterity. I'm really happy with this BCM one.

Nice,,,,, I was thinking of getting the same upper from weapon outfitters when they had the centurion arms upper promo they were running, but I was gonna go with the 14.7 barrel.. I swear that place takes all my money :p
Let me know how that leupold works out for you, looking for a variable zoom optic also. Would loved a nighthawk 2.5-10x 24 or a Vortex razor HD GEN II 1-6x

Those look super nice, a little out of my price range though. Been considering the Leupold Mk4 1.5-5x20 or a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x24 also, just not sure how much I need to spend on a scope and how much extra I will get for the price increase.

Yes,,,, optics prices are all over the place. My only adventure in the variable zoom area was a mullerspeedshot 1-4x and for the price I was actually impressed (~$200) illuminated red dot.
ended up selling to fund other things but was decent for the price and function. The leupold and Trijicon you mentioned was fine options but I was being a cheap ass when I bought that Mueller..

I actually like the magpul furniture since the stock shortens the length of pull on it which I wanted since I thought the original stock was a bit long for me.
Also the forend is a little bit bigger than the stock forend so to better get hold of it for racking it. also its nice you can add rails on it of you want to add a light.
Definitely worth the purchase for me...

Hey thanks for the info. I will probably need extra recoil pad then b/c I like long length of pull. I'm also 6'3".
I added a magpul rail to my existing Hogue forend with the aid of a drill, a dremel, and a sharp knife to cut into the rubber overmolding, but I'm betting that the factory designed solution is less ghetto...
I was thinking of getting a Streamlight TRL-1 for this setup:Show Image(http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae156/jbedwell81/20130717_224618_zps063cd3c4.jpg)Show Image(http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae156/jbedwell81/20130717_224753_zpsc7e649e5.jpg)
The Inforce WML looks really good, I've been considering getting one.
Also, my optic and mount arrived! I went with the Leupold VXR 1.25-4x20 on a LaRue SPR mount.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/LB1oo8T.jpg)Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/KyhnXu8.jpg)
I'm truly blown away by how nice it is. The SPR sets the optic at the perfect height and is totally solid; it doesn't move at all. The VXR's glass is nice and clear, and acquisition is super quick with the red dot in the center of the reticle. I was a little worried that 4x wouldn't be enough magnification, but after nailing my range's 18 inch steel plate at 400m multiple times without much trouble I can tell that it will be more than enough for 3 gun, where targets are rarely further out than 300m. On top of that, the whole package added just over a pound to my rifle. I couldn't be happier. I don't think I'll ever put a non magnified optic on a rifle again, except maybe on an SBR.

Also what trigger do you have in that rifle?

Yeah, probably going to get a muzzle brake for it within the next couple weeks, probably Surefire.
I put a Timney 3lb trigger in it. Installation was really easy since it's a drop in. Geiselles run about $50 more but to be honest I'm not sure how much you could improve on the Timney, it's an awesome trigger.

Really need a decent shotgun, I'm waiting for a 930 JM Pro to come in stock anywhere...
Damn that looked like fun and love the outdoor course, so wide open.
Was that a Remington 870? Also how did the rifle and scope combo work for you? Looked like you were getting good hits.
Also semi auto shotguns would probably make you run the course quicker? I've been looking at that 930 jm pro or the mossberg rhythm version ( think that's what's it's called) ...amazed how the pros reload the shotguns so quick...

That is an excellent price. Mine was about 100 more by the time I paid shipping and transfer fee.

Yeah, they keycaps are the only thing that disappoints me about this board. Would a Realforce set fit on it, or is the right shift incompatible?

Nice find, good price too! Is it a Norinco?
It's coming!!... ;D
The Shadow is coming. I got a call from CZ Custom today that they had Shadows in stock and were building my Accu Shadow that I ordered in April. I should have it in November.
Good to see you too!!
Definitely pics and maybe some targets depending on how good I can shoot with it :p
Looking great, I love all the FDE.
My dad picked up a gen 4 g34 a few weeks ago, I need to get out to the range with him and do a side by side comparison with my 17L.
Right now I'm using Zev sights with the fiber optic front. Haven't had a chance to try out much else, but I'm very happy with these.
Not really. The bushing is threaded to the slide. It came with a little wrench to take it off the slide. The bushing is also holding the front sight in place. It has competition rear sight, custom hammer, short reset trigger (3 lbs @ single action), 11 lbs recoil spring. The only thing I don't like is that it has safety instead of decocker. I'll have to practice lowering the hammer manually to put it in double action before each stage at the match.

I accidentally put my 2 CZs in the same box one night. The next day I found this little baby CZ Rami.
Put some new stuff on my 17L a little while ago and I don't think I ever posted it. Here it is with my new FC660C.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/Eby7W0i.jpg)
Mmmm too much sexy. That red magazine is too attractive. Also, those white legends are so pretty... too bad it won't last :(
Yeah, they keycaps are the only thing that disappoints me about this board. Would a Realforce set fit on it, or is the right shift incompatible?
Also, with these Glock mag baseplates I can fit 23 rounds of 9mm in a single mag. Quite ridiculous :))Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/np4rncO.jpg)
Little bit of (off-brand) Tannerite in a pumpkin with AR-15 = fun!

Looks like fun Aggiejy....
After waiting for a bit, my go to gunshop said he was getting one in and called me up before he posted it on his site... let's say I saved him sometime from posting it to his site and I said I would take it... :p

Did someone say Shotgun Saturday?
Finally got my hands on a 930 JM Pro, this is the 24" barrel version with 9 round tube. With one in the chamber and one ghost loaded on the carrier I can get 11 rounds in the gun at once :eek:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/dRXE1Ki.jpg)
Can't wait to shoot it!
Damn all your rifles are so sick.. Do you have to be military to get them?
Got a PS90 with factory installed C-MORE mini red dot sight and 10 round magazine to make it legal for NJ.
The red dot is mounted 4 inches above the barrel, so there's a lot of parallax shooting at close range (6 inch difference between point of impact between 10 and 25 yards). I'm going to adjust it to be for long range and will just use a laser for close range.

How is that C-MORE sight? I've only ever held the railed PS90. Surprisingly comfy gun.
Nice PS90 PointyFox.... is that C-more the one that comes standard with some models of PS90 now....
I was using a bulkier Eotech 512 on mine before but switched to a smaller TR-25 for now....Show Image(http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc467/jpm804/Pistols%20and%20Rifles/bc470a0b-fae5-4a5d-bfda-e60d1f861bc2_zps9f14f0a9.jpg)
I loved the model will the old ghost sights on top and it had a built in Back up irons in under the rail .... my friend had that model and I did like that setup a lot.
I would give anything to SBR this bad boy

Yeah, it's the one that comes standard. I paid $1900 for my P90. I wish I could SBR mine too, though SBRing reduces the bullet velocity a little. Can't even use any mags with more than 10 bullets. Actually mine is supposed to hold 10 but only holds 9. :(
The ability to have a 50 round mag makes this better than the Tavor for me, but since I'm in NJ, the Tavor might actually have been a better option :P
I wish the red dot had more range to it. It covers most of my target at 25 yards. Can't mount a magnifier because there is no rail on the top with the factory RDS.
Figure I would post before the end of the year ... hopefully everyone had a good x-mas and everyone has a good new years.
Here was my xmas present to myself this year, took me awhile to find it since I didn't want to pay the "gouging" markups on it but got lucky and my FFL had a personal one he sold me for a fair price.

I came back from a really good Vegas trip Sunday. I'm not a big gambler, but was able to make $500 turn into $2,500... so figured I should buy some toys that my wife wouldn't otherwise be overeager to approve. I've run out of keyboards on my wish list, so finally bought a long-wanted Ruger Mark III Target. I actually went in the buy the "Hunter Target (http://j.youens.com/TcMi)", which is gorgeous IMO, but my hands didn't fit the grip and it was very uncomfortable. So I went with the Target instead. Quite a bit heavier, but feels great, and was cheaper! So I picked up yet another Benchmade... 810 Contego.

The rest of the money will go towards an AR. Nothing fancy like you guys, but good enough for plinking. Pictures once I get it all put together. :)
Hey guys I see a lot of you guys have some very nice looking guns here. I like shooting but am on a bit of a budget so all the stuff I shoot is .22cal of some variant. What I am looking for right now is a decent priced .22 cal rifle in lever action for a decent price. I haven't done a lot of looking but the little I have done, all the lever action versions are quite a be more expensive than the semi auto versions. My mom does have one but she won't sell it or let me shoot it. It is a D.U. version with some gold plating and custom engraving. I did forget to look at the brand and model last time I was over there. She won it at a D.U. banquet dinner off a special raffle. If anyone could provide some suggestions it would be appreciated.

Why would you want a lever action for anything other than to have one in a collection? They are impractical for target shooting. The Marlin model 60W 22 LR semi-auto is a great little plinker that won't break the bank and if you want something nicer and deadly accurate (I used one for squirrel/rabbit hunting when I was a kid) get a Browning SA-22 (one of my favorites.)
Marlin on the top and Browning on the bottom. You can get the Marlin used for under a hundred if you look around. The Browning will run you anywhere from $600-$1200 new and less if you get a used one.
...Outside of getting lever action I was thinking of getting the Ruger 10-22 and setting it up with an aftermarket barrel, small scope and going that route.
^^^ This is what I was about to recommend. I have a decent assortment of .22 rifles (LOVE to plink), but the 10/22 is the most fun of the bunch. You can make them super accurate with aftermarket accessories, or shoot as is which is fine too. The most customizable gun on the market probably?
I've been debating whether or not I want to hack stuff with swords or shoot stuff with guns. I think swords look more badass but there's no places to go to show them off besides the internet. Guns on the other hand, you can take those to a shooting range and flaunt it around like it's nobody's business.
I don't hunt anymore, but growing up we would go rabbit, squirrel, turkey, duck, quail, dove, and deer (whitetail) hunting. You don't want to be messing around with that lever while you're trying to be quiet and accurate, lol. I have never been on a hog hunt but I bet it would be some good eat'n. It's pretty popular here in TX.

That is why you need to get better at shooting once, to kill. You don't allow multiple shots because the target will notice and run out of shot if you miss the first time.
I like having the pressure of hitting the animal just once because if you miss then there is no dinner on the table tonight :thumb: . Any goon can hit a target if he's got an automatic but of course you need to waste time cleaning out all the bullets before cooking the beast. Plus the meat gets damaged quite a bit if you go all schwarzenegger like on your target.
Secondly, you've never been squirrel or rabbit hunting have you? You are typically shooting one after the other quickly.

Took about 18 hours to grind it to fit. But now I get to attach a laser right next to the barrel!
I would actually use one on wild hogs. Those things are stupid tough. On top of the fact that they cause multiple millions of dollars worth of crop damage every year. When they get to traveling in herds/pack/whatever a group of them is called, a semi-auto rifle would be nice. Especially if you are hunting on a farmers land that is paying you per head.

The "wild hogs" as you refer to are the BEST to hunt down. We just call them "Bush-pigs" it also refers to ugly women here in Oz but that's another story. I've only been able to get the 'bushies' with one shot straight on when his head is aimed towards you. Shooting him anywhere else only makes him angry as hell especially if he's around 450kgs/1000lbs.
Plus there's enough meat to feed everyone and everything in the near area. Nothing better than a spit-roast around evening time and a nice coldie sitting in your hand, perfection on earth :thumb: .
I would have to agree with the perfection on Earth. I have had the wonderful chance to try some smoked ribs from a hog shot in Kentucky. Best ribs I have ever had. And I run my smoker pretty damn good myself.
Can't believe I sold this. :-[ I miss it all the time now.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/KfhKKTXl.jpg)

Man all this talk of BBQ is making me hungry.... would love to go Pig/Boar hunting one of these days.Is that the one known as the sharpshooter?
New to me this week, been wanting this rifle since its same thing as the British military use (LMT L129A1).

Can I plead the 5th on that question.... ^-^ To my defense I have been doing a lot of selling of rifles and pistols I find I am not shooting a lot or at all to make room for other stuff I want. Basically keeping just the pistols and rifles I do love to shoot... I learned my lesson from hording keyboards. :p
What happened to your Sig 522?

I didn't play with it that much so I sold it. One day I'll get a real AR and a real 1911. I have this Sig 1911-22 but it's not the real deal.Show Image(http://www.impactguns.com/data/default/images/catalog/535/sig_1911-22-FDE_a.jpg)
I thought it was about time I put a brake on my AR. I was going back and forth between the Surefire muzzle brake and the Lantac Dragon and ended up deciding on the latter. It makes a pretty nice flame in low light.Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/1H2JH2H.jpg)

Let me know how that lantec dragon works out for you? I've been looking at that muzzle device also since many people have good things to say about it.
Also like the CMR panels on the handguard now, looks great. Also nothing wrong with the RVG, I like using stubby RVG's on all my rifles now. Makes a good handstop...

Will do, I'm sure I'll get to run it through a few matches here in the coming months. I don't have much to compare it to... I guess that means I need to build another rifle! :))
The RVG felt really uncomfortable to me for some reason. I still want to try out an AFG and a handstop, but with all the improvised gun resting I have to do for 3 gun I think a bare bottom rail is probably the best setup.

You should run a handstop or barrier support attachment then for your type of shooting. I just like it since its a nice reference point for my hand...

How old are you (if you don't mind) and where do you live at? My 5 year old son won a .50 cal muzzle loader at a Ducks Unlimited Banquet dinner for the Green Wings stuff they do. This was a couple week ago. I live in Iowa. Also my 9 year old niece won a .22LR rifle but I think the paper work is in her moms name and the muzzle loader doesn't require any paperwork.

Woah, sweet glock! I was really having trouble deciding between the 17 and the 19 for an RMR host, ended up going with the 17 because it fits my hand a little better. I love how the 19 looks with an RMR though. Coupled with the stippling and front slide serrations, that's probably one of the most beautiful glocks I've ever seen ;D
How do you like that Salient trigger? I'm thinking about getting that or the Zev Fulcrum for my 17L.

Actually mine came stock with the Steel Serrated trigger. Unfortunately, no trigger job. I haven't really had the money to do anything to do with guns the past year. However, the profile is the same as newer style recurve trigger that come stock in most CZ's, like the compact model.

You read my mind... I was thinking of getting a P30 but will wait til this comes out and try it out... then decide between the two.
Side note, I was able to hold the new SIG P320 ,,,, trigger was not bad for a striker fired pistol out of the box ( but didn't like the high bore axis of it).
Yeah, dood. I really want a VP9, as I really want to own a striker fired pistol along with a DA/SA. HK and striker fired? Yes please! It's that or a USP45.
I don't know how I feel about a Sig that's striker fired... And I know what you mean about the high bore axis. I've got a lot of experience with a Sig P239 (bro's carry piece), and that thing is tall (compared to my CZ anyway). It's all forgivable though... the triggers on premium Sigs are just so damn amazing... The single action on my bro's P239 was unbeatable.

Have you though about the HK45 instead of a USP45.... funny is the price on both of those are about the same now.
Friend just got a HK45 and cant wait to shoot it.... everyone has nothing but good things to say about it.
I'm just looking forward to the VP9 trigger which sounds like its pretty good out of the box... I was thinking of getting a Walther PPQ since everyone talks up that trigger also, but it sounds like the HK is as good and looks better.. :p
I also don't mind about the price on it also... hahahaha

Beautiful collection you and your dad have.... I can never get enough of glock goodness... :thumb:
Your RMR'd G17 turned out great, looked like it came out the factory like that .. ( did you have to have the slide refinished also after the work?)
Also love the taran tactical baseplates... I wish I could run those in California, but unfortunately we cant :(
Wait til you get a trigger on that G17 of yours and it'll be perfect.... also after you run that RMR you'll want RMR's on all your glocks afterwards... or else that's how I feel.. hahahaha
Let us know how it shoots and it looks like your gonna have a good 3-gun season this year ;D

Thanks! I actually didn't get the slide refinished, I called them up beforehand and asked about it and they said it wouldn't be necessary as long as I was only doing the RMR cut, and they were right, I can't tell that there's any unfinished area at all.
The first time I put those baseplates on I could hardly believe that they add 6 rounds, fitting 23 rounds into a 3 gun legal size magazine is just crazy :))
Managed to get out to the range today even though it was raining and got it sighted in. Target acquisition is so quick, I think I'm in love. :p

Beautiful setup ..... :thumb:
While not a firearm, just got a new piece of gear which I've been wearing this whole week and love...
Wanted a new belt which I could wear everyday and also double up as a training / gear belt and I found it in the Ares Gear Aegis Belt .... sold all my old belts which were cobra buckle belts, which while they were perfectly fine the cobra buckle sometimes was not that easy to loop through some pants and loading gear on it was a pain also... also the cobra buckle was not very suitable for everyday wear at work.
The aegis solves all these issues while also being a very good everyday belt, I was worried it would be too stiff for everyday wear but that wasn't the case...... Definitely pricey but since it will be an everyday belt, I thought it was worth it.Show Image(http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc467/jpm804/Pistols%20and%20Rifles/fcc54af4-f615-4d41-a308-d5539c70a862_zps75028f75.jpg)

I've been looking at Ares Gear belts for something to put a holster on when I don't want to carry around my entire 3 gun rig. I wear the 5.11 trainer belt for general use but it's not quite stiff enough for putting a holster on. Do you think if I'm going to usually keep the same gear on the belt that the Ranger belt would be a better choice than the Aegis, or are they roughly equal?

The ranger and aegis, are both equal in stiffness since the belt is made from the same material. I give the nod to the Aegis for easier removal than the ranger ( I never had the ranger but had similar belts in design and the aegis is way easier to get on an off).
If you want a stiffer belt you can also get the aegis enhanced which gives a third layer for added stiffness...
what gear do you carry on your 3-gun setup?
Sounds like the Aegis is probably a better choice then. That cobra buckle sure is cool looking though! :))
On my 3gun belt I have a holster, double pistol mag pouch, rifle mag pouch, and four 4rd shell caddies. Planning on adding some load-two rigs to it once I figure out which ones I want to buy, so my belt is pretty well stuffed.

That's with the magazine baseplate that it's the same size as the Glock 19, right?
Never really shot 9mm, ever. Shot a Glock 21 Gen 4 (Prefer it to the 1911, honestly. I know, heresy), shot a Glock 23 (touch too small on the handle), Shot a P226 in .40 S&W, but never a 9mm. Anyone care to compare it to .40 S&W (say, G23 to G19)? I'd like to know if it moves about differently or if it is really just the same recoil, only less.
As someone who has never even looked at purchasing a firearm, what's ballpark for a nice middle tier pistol?
The only Sig I've ever fired was a P229 in 9mm, but in the Glock 17 and 22 (and likewise the 19 and 23) I found the .40 to be a little more snappy than the 9mm. The recoil impulse itself was roughly equal, but it felt a little more aggressive in the .40 to me.

^^^ this....I tried to like .40 but it wasn't for me... shot a sig p226 and USP in .40 and it was a little too snappy for me.
Once I shot .45 ACP ... I stuck to 9mm or .45 in my handguns.
I actually liked the G21 but slide dimension made it a big gun, that's why I went with the 30s since its slide profile is exactly like a G19 and the grip is only slight larger than the G19. Also it handles pretty well, controllable and not snappy at all... haven't shot it with a flush fit 9rd mag since it comes with two 10rd mags but I hope to try that in the future and hopefully pearce makes a grip extension for it.
Shot my friends HK45 last week and that was fun gun to shoot... I might have to pick one up soon.

Don't care for the .40 for the same reason. It's just unpleasant to shoot and the last time I checked ammo prices were similar to .45 acp. I'm surprised you haven't shot the XDS, or can you not get them in California?
Welp, goodbye keyboards, hello firearms? As someone who has never even looked at purchasing a firearm, what's ballpark for a nice middle tier pistol?
Yeah, around $500-$600. Though if you're going to concealed carry it, I'd save up and get a Kimber carry model with built-in laser.
...So my accu-shadow came in a couple weeks ago and my pro-tek came back from the custom shop last week.
I put the stock rubber grips on the accu. I have pretty big hands and the custom shop thin grips were cramped in single action. The rubber grips fill my hand much better, I get the right amount of finger on the trigger off the draw, and they also allow me to get my off hand higher up on the frame more naturally. I think I'll put a strip of grip tape on the front and back straps and it'll be perfect.Show Image(https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2927/14415703458_96b3942198_z.jpg)Show Image(https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5513/14579287976_319a84c802_z.jpg)
The pro-tek had the anodizing stripped off the frame, undercuts on the trigger guard and beavertail, then cerakoted burnt bronze, an original 85 combat trigger swapped in with a short reset, and finally topped it off with a FO front sight with blacked out rears.Show Image(https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3835/14415702138_a1b447bc34_z.jpg)

I ordered it at the end of Feb. They said it would probably be done late May and ended up shipping mid June. Seems they are a couple weeks off the three month quote time for the accu builds.

Thanks man ... By that estimate hopefully mind should be ready by end of July hopefully ... Hopefully by me changing my order to the BLK model doesn't delay it further.
Also have you shot it yet ? And if yes , you think it was worth the cost?

Oh ya, i've been shooting it a lot since I got it. It really does close the groups up a ridiculous amount. The test target from CZ-UB and the one from the custom shop is like night and day. Granted, thats in a ransom rest. At least I know that if I miss it's my fault and not the pistol. If I do my part and the consistency is there and its the difference between an alpha or charlie, then it's absolutely worth it to me. The cost isn't outside the box for a high end gun to shoot production with in my opinion.
I'd be really curious to see how the regular accu compares to the blk with the match fit barrel. Either way you can't go wrong. Mine will be my primary production gun for a very long time. Only thing I might do someday is find a tactical sport and build an open gun out of it, but that isn't anywhere in the near future.
Ugh... I'm so damn jealous of your pro-tek... Pretty much the perfected version of my PCR... I really should get the Alu-slim grip. Getting sick of the rubber grip tagging on my shirt.
Thanks for the feedback,,,,, sounds like what I was looking for in a production gun. I definitely want to get into USPSA production shooting in the future and wanted the best gun that qualified for production which seems to be the accu shadow. Heaven knows I probably need to get the most from my gun as I get more into the shooting sports.
Sold both CZ p01 and spo1 tactical to fund this purchase so it sounds like it was worth it. I originally ordered the accu shadow but when I saw the BLK version it wasn't much more for a match fit barrel so I went with it. The only thing I didn't like about the BLK is that it didn't come with the adjustable comp rear sights, but I just upgraded that with my order... not sure why they didn't carry that over to the BLK model.

Ya I can definitely see how the rubber grips would get grabby with a shirt over them. I'm not sure what it is but I prefer the thin grips on the compact frame CZs and thicker grips on the full sized.
Hmmm. I have small hands so I'd probably go for smaller grips on both guns, but I can kind of see where you're going. The way I see it, the Pro-tek you'd want as small as possible for IWB conceal carry, and the the Accu-Shadow, being a fullsize competition gun, I'd want the most firm grip on the gun as possible. The ergonomics of the CZ rubber grips are pretty much perfect for comfort, even for my small hands. Only issue I have is the double-action trigger is a bit of a reach for my short fingers :P I had to practice drawing and pulling the double action a lot for conceal carry when I first got the PCR.
Ya I agree. The thin grips would probably make that double action reach much more comfortable for you. One of my shooting buddies has mediumish hands and he runs the rubber grips on the strong side and the thin alum grip on the off hand side of his shadow. It looks goofy but it gives him a positive comfortable grip and still allows him to get on the mag release without breaking his strong side grip.
I've never had a wardrobe malfunction with the thin alum grips on the pro tek. The only thing that bothered me at first was the grip tape part against my skin but I'm used to it now and don't even realize it anymore.

Ah, thanks for the confirmation :) I must really save up for that alu-grip sometime! $90 for damn grips...
The half-half solution that your friend does is not a bad idea!!! Wow... never crossed my mind! Must definitely try this out when I buy the grips. It won't fix the wardrobe malfunction problem but might prove to be the ultimate grip.
Do you think the tape is essential to the aluminum grips?
Ive shot one Wilson Combat 1911, my buddies super grade (yes, that thing that costs as much as some used cars) ... it was amaze-balls
Grats on the CZ, that'll be sweet :D
I've never even held a Wilson, but I've heard plenty of good things about them. My dad owns a couple of Les Baers and when comparing them to Wilson 1911s that he's shot, he said it was more or less a toss up for him. His Les Baers are probably the most precisely refined & tuned guns I've ever got to handle, so if a Wilson can compare to that then I can only imagine that they're great. :)
Also was able to do a quick look at my CZ ACCU Shadow BLK, unfortunately I wont be able to get my hands on her until end of the month.Show Image(http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc467/jpm804/Pistols%20and%20Rifles/39589fae-e484-49c4-990a-84e0236cf6e3_zpsba0a3cf0.jpg)
Are those the 10 round mags with your accu shadow?
When I first got mine the feed lips were rough and sharp and gouging the hell out of the brass. The 11 lb recoil spring didn't have enough forward momentum to strip the Round and fully chamber it. They were getting hung up right at the top of the feed ramp. Once I polished the feed lips everything has been smooth sailing.
Mec-gars and the standard factory mags work perfect out of the box. May not happen to you but just something to look out for.
^^^ Thanks Atakp for the information... I do need to start doing more reading up on rules and regulation.
Hoping to be able to do more shooting after this year with ammo prices coming back down and I hope to get into reloading soon....

Nice one! Let us know how it shoots.
I've got a basic RCBS single stage setup that I mainly use for bolt guns (which I hardly ever shoot anymore...). Reloading large volumes on that thing is just too slow in my experience. I really want a Dillon 550B so I can start loading a bunch of 5.56 and 9mm for 3 gun.

Wow, pretty. I like the really subtle slide markings. Makes it look super clean.
It looks fantastic jpm. One of these days I have to add a 1911 or 2011 to my safe. I randomly found myself looking at the tactical supergrade earlier today for no apparent reason. Not even sure how I got there haha
Ya the wait time and price would kill me. I'm already blowing my gun budget for the year... And I'm not even racing an end of the year deadline.
I've got a gun coming that should be here next Monday, expect some pics middle of next week
So a bit of a back story...
While I was busy buying up CZ custom guns a friend of mine sent his g17 to zev for a full treatment. Dragonfly cut slide, chameleon coated kkm barrel, ultimate fulcrum... The works. He's an hk fan but wanted something custom and unique. He's not into competition shooting at this point but we are competitive with each other when it comes to things like guns and shooting.
So for testing purposes and to add some fuel to the fire I called Salient. It is a pretty expensive Glock... But it's for science haha
Not at all. I got a tier 1 g17. I didn't spring for the match barrel because I put a higher emphasis on reliability rather than the bit of accuracy from a tighter lock up. I did get the flat faced trigger, had them remove the finger grooves, and add one of their new magwells. It comes standard with the fiber optic front and blacked out rear sight.
Wait time was short. The day I called we discussed everything and he asked me to hold for a minute. When he came back he said they just built a tier one 17 and it was mine if I wanted it. Knowing the wait times already I took it. They put in a work order for the extra stuff I wanted and it shipped a day later
I'll be sure to keep you updated once it comes in. I'll be able to compare it side by side with the zev which I'm excited about as well.
I gave some serious thought to an rmr but decided against it. There's always a next time and I'm still very interested in running one. A part of me wanted to save my optic fund for a cz open gun. That's pretty much the only reason I didn't on the salient.
All these weapons shouldn’t find their way into civilian’s hands. Not because you and I coudn’t handle it, but because 1 out of 100 can’t handle it. Consider this for a moment please.

Hmm. As a Dutch person I have never seen or held an actual gun. I think the idea is kind of scary. Am I allowed to say that?
Though I will say, that maybe shooting targets at a gun range would be fun. I have done something similar with bows and loved it. Though there is something about guns that scares me. Probably knowing you are holding something that is very lethal.

The idea being kind of scared is perfectly normal, and you're allowed to say that :))
The concept is pretty much the same as a bow. Do you ever hold a knife or use one in the kitchen? I'd say it's pretty much the same :P The only difference is you have to check the weapon every time you pick it up, and make sure you're always aiming in a safe direction and keeping your finger off the trigger until you're ready to pull.
It's all about common sense, safety, and discipline, which I think applies to most things in life :)

Nice .... that pics has 3 of my favorites... CZ, Click Clack and nice Realforce Keyboard.... winner pic there :thumb:
That CZ never gets old, you guys are starting to make me want one!
Haha true. I do think that I have a healthy dose of common sense. But when it comes to paying mind to safety and discipline... let's just say that I have been known to lack both at times. Maybe I should stay away from guns :-X
Glad you like the grips... They really do change the way the pistol feels.
This thread has me considering grabbing a license and some guns. My girlfriend has a license and rifle due to her dad owning a lot of hunting rifles and such. Although, I'm more interested in acquiring pistols.
There is actually a range a bit south of me that allows unlicensed people to come and try out a large selection of guns.
Yep. Gun prices start where keyboard prices end (unless you like **** like the G80-5000, or you exclusively buy hi-points)This thread has me considering grabbing a license and some guns. Go to the range and get comfortable with something first, I would suggest starting off with a 9mm maybe a glock or S&W. Just get used to handling a handgun ;), Take a couple of classes, then make the plunge. The firearm addiction can reeeeeeaally blow the wallet away. ;D makes the mechanical keyboard market look like a gumball machine lol.
Ya I couldn't believe how good it feels in my hand. Rekindled a warm fuzzy feeling for Glock.
The trigger pull is in the neighborhood of 2.5 lbs. Salient included a new 3.5 and 4.5 striker spring and also a 13 and 15 lbs recoil spring.

You win everything.
So as promised here's a few quick pics of the new gun I picked up on Tuesday. Haven't shot it yet but I've been doing tons of dry fire since I've been shooting hammered fired pistols the most recently and I want to re-acclimate myself to a striker. The trigger on this makes it easy, and feels amazing. It has a little bit of take up for the safety plunger and has a nice, clean, solid break. Really liking the flat faced trigger and magwell. Transitions seem very fast. It fits my hand well...I know some people struggle going back and fourth between a gun with a traditional grip angle and the glock grip angle, but after the first 30 mins it points naturally and feels like an extension of my hand.
I have to shoot it to form a final opinion but I'm really impressed with it thus farShow Image(https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3835/15018593048_646263f337_z.jpg)Show Image(https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3878/15018487990_3e2fabf4d2_z.jpg)Show Image(https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3837/15018590277_f9ff2cf9e6_z.jpg)

How the heck did I miss this--that is awesome! They are too expensive for me, but excellent guns no doubt. Does the magwell make a big difference for you? I love my Zev magwell on my 17L and want something similar, but not quite as bulky for my 17 and it looks like the Salient magwell is just that.In continuation of my 1911 stretch this year, finally picked up the 1911 I will be buried with :p

That case hardening is beautiful. Legitimately one of the best looking 1911s I've ever seen.
Thanks CS and VS ....
As far as your SAI magwell question.... It's not so much a magwell like a zev since its slimmer profile but mini guide .... Looked over a friends one and it was a nice piece . I liked the slimmer minimalist design of it but adding some function.... Probably pick up one for g19 eventually.
aKtap can probably chime in with a better review.
Before I start... Jpm that is a glorious 1911.
As far as the SAI magwell/guide or whatever it is I don't think it compares to a full size magwell. The full sized ones I've used seem to just suck the mag out of your hand into place. Minimal thought required. However this SAI version does perfectly in this application and does it well. It gives me a warm fuzzy positive feeling with mag changes at speed. You have to be a bit more aware of your technique, but for what it is... It's perfect. Slim, minimalist, plugs the rear cavity in the grip, and for tactical type shooting it's great. Wouldn't catch me with it in a full blown competition though.
I've put around 500 rounds down range with the 17 so far. A mix of full power and reduced power competition loads. It's been great thus far. Feeds and ignites everything as it should and groups tight for me.
I might be in the minority but I prefer a gen 3 to a gen 4. They feel different to me but that's purely a preference. With a proper grip it does stay flat and the minimal movement of the front sight makes tracking it easy. Follow up shots come fast. The flat trigger is a huge two thumbs up. I love everything about it. The trigger itself is excellent for a striker gun.
I shot it side by side with a zev 17 and a vp9. The zev and the salient are built with a different purpose and they both do well in their respective roles. I like the trigger action combined with the flat trigger on the salient better. The zev owner said he likes the fit and finish on the salient better than the zev. Mostly subjective stuff after that. The price of the salient is a drawback for sure, but at the same time I'm considering sending them a 19 to be built as well. Maybe next year.

Been a while since anyone posted here. I don't have anything new and exciting ...yet.
Good stuff, that's one of my favorite artists :D. Here's (http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=464860) his pixiv page with all his work in case you haven't seen it yet (you may have to make an account I think).
Looking forward to seeing your new stuff :)
I need a 1911 in my life...been on my list for a while now. I have a bookmark sub-folder filled with Wilson combat, nighthawk, and STI/SVI stuff. I'm jealous of your stuff jpm...but my wallet isn't.
Oh and your friends brother is making me a holster for my salient, I'm pretty excited about it. Seems like he's really busy making them which is fantastic.
Oh ya I've seen some of the agency stuff...I think from his instagram. Looks pretty good to me, I'm watching it as well.
The salient is still going strong. I cleaned it the first time before I first shot it and haven't cleaned it since. Probably only 5-600 rounds out so far...more than half are reloads that are pretty dirty. Wanting to see if it will choke but so far it's been chugging along as a glock should. I didn't have to touch any of the springs, it handles underpowered reloads and hot defense ammo without skipping a beat. Very happy with it.
He's making me an appendix rig for it...if the gun keeps doing everything well it'll work it's way into the lineup. It's actually pretty comfortable in that position too.
What options did you pic for the holster? Material , color , etc ... He has so many options it's crazy and hard to choose hahahaha
What options did you pic for the holster? Material , color , etc ... He has so many options it's crazy and hard to choose hahahaha
He does have a ton of options...I went through his instagram pics for almost a week haha. I went with his appendix rig set up to ride a bit lower than normal. When I inquired about it he said his personal holster is set up the same way.
The color inspiration came from my Marine Corps dress blue jacket. I couldn't get an exact match on the really deep dark blue (I didn't even ask because I know how busy he is getting) so I went with black suede with red stitching over kryptek yeti kydex on the inside. Should be close enough I think.
Well I guess we all have more pics to look forward to :thumb:
I don't think you would be disappointed with the glock...or m&p for that matter. If I had to leave my house right now with only what I could carry, the salient would be going with me.
Speaking of leaving I'm starting to think I need to get out of my state. The cost of living and economy here are horrible and the gun laws are out of control again. My brother has been in TX for 17 years now and I'm thinking it might be time to join him. The gears are in motion that's for sure. That's part of the reason I have been holding back on firearm buying recently...putting aside all the money I can. If I do make the move I know I'm going to need a bigger safe.
I'm broke right now living in California, I cant imagine how broke I would be in Texas..... if you do move out there you should have some nice new toys for sure... hahahah
If you're gonna do a pistol upper, I'd go 300blk, especially if you're going to suppress. Short barrel 556 is freaking loud.
I've been kicking around the idea of doing a 22 pistol upper. Seems like it'd be a lot of cheap fun. I'm sitting on a stripped upper and lower right now that I can't decide what to do with.

I don't like 1911s because I can't reach the mag release.
However for some reason I can on the FNX-45 with it's double stacked .45 ACPs.
So how about the new Glocks leaked? 34s and 35s with pre-milled slides for Optics and a longslide 10mm?

It has been a while since I posted here, but I do have a pretty good update...
I bought a pre-ban AR at the beginning of January. Here's a quick cellphone pic. It has Magpul furniture and a pretty decent stock trigger on it but otherwise nothing too stand out about it.Show Image(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7452/15788283913_1b4352f918_b.jpg)
The big takeaway here is the PWA lower. PWA made stripped lowers and when they broke up as a company in the mid 90's the two owners went their seperate ways. One started Rock River Arms, and the other started LMT. From what I can tell the PWA lowers were made with some of the same tooling that LMT still uses today. Most consider PWA just an early LMT. The fit and finish of the lower is pretty good and everything is in spec. When I was hunting around the only other option I was interested in was a forged bushmaster lower, but I'm glad I found what I did.
I started trying to figure out what direction I wanted to take it. Since I live in Connecticut, it will most likely be the only AR in my safe so it has to be perfect. There's so many options out there for the AR platform, and it takes a lot of will power to just leave one alone. When it comes to firearms...that's a trait I don't have.
So then this happened...Show Image(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8657/16220670558_e397d32fc0_b.jpg)Show Image(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8633/16382329186_a0cf7b192b_b.jpg)Show Image(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7307/16222394997_0979dd378f_b.jpg)
Haven't shot it yet since I put everything together, but that's coming next week...
Atakp how did I miss this post, love the LVOA upper.
Have you shot it yet? Tempted to buy one of these or they salient version...
Next purchase might be an agency glock.
Ya that looks fantastic! I'll most likely be picking up a gen 4 19 on Tuesday for the build. Undecided on the slide finish though. What are your thoughts on the trigger and overall fit and finish of the work?
I'm also undecided on the hybrid vs field...leaning towards the field even though it will have an RMR.
I love the trigger ... Somewhat similar to the SAI flat face trigger. Need to put some more rounds through it to have a better opinion but i like it so far.
The quality of work is top notch , especially the slide milling and cover plate. The stippling is great and love the trigger guard undercut..... The ledge they stipple on it is great also to get additional pressure on the pistol from Recoil .... I had my reservations of that ledge but after actually shooting with it , it really does serve a functional purpose. Also first Glock with the finger grooves removed and didn't know if I would like it but it's nice in the end.
Agency has been great to work with and got my gun back in 4-5 weeks even though they quoted 6-8 weeks.... I got in before their official announcement so I assume they are only gonna get busier...
As for finish, I choose cerakote since since they mentioned meolonite/nitired fimish adds some time to the build ... Also friend who has several agency and SAI guns said cerakote seems to keep the slide cooler with longer strings of fire or high to quick rounds count sessions....
My next one will probably be a g19 hybrid since I'm gonna be running an RMR on it .... I figure kinda best of both worlds ... Slightly faster slide tracking , but not too much to throw balance off with an rmr. I have my other g19 with rmr and no cuts to compare it too .... Don't think you can go wrong with both...
Keep an eye out for the magwell ... Not sure when it's gonna be out Id pick it up if you could get it ... Looks nice.
Let me know if you have any other questions ...

Thanks for the review sounds worth it to me. I think I'm going to go with the field with cerakote finish. I think I read that they do a black oxide base under the cerakote so that should hold up well if the cerakote wears over time.
I saw the prototype magwell posted and that's already on the to-do list. I like the salient one so I'm sure I'll like this one as well. I was going to hold out until they released them but ill probably just send the gun out anyway. Looking forward to this build.
Thanks for the reminder. I'll probably pick up some 10-8 suppressor height sights to send out with the gun. Once I get the gun and sights situated I'll give them a call. I'll let you know if they have an updated eta on the gen 4 magwells.
Its a good thing you bumped the thread ...I've been meaning to post an update.
I have an aimpoint t2 on the lvoa now along with some railscales stuff which I really like. Nicest shooting AR I've ever been behind.
Got the agency 19 back a month ago or so. Really like their work. If you follow their insragram you may have seen it already, its the midnight bronze 19 they posted a couple pics of a while back.
As of now I have a Cajun gun works pro grade cz p09 on order but its still 6 or 7 weeks out until that gets here. I'll try to get some pics up soonish.
Nice Springfield also. I always say I'm going to get into 1911's but I keep buying more cz's
The more I shot my agency, the more I like it. I still want a salient glock to compare it too...
Quit tempting me with that warsport... hahahaha I want to buy one but funds have all been diverted to reloading... with the elections coming up don't want to get caught in a panic year without any ammo so I'm doing this as preventive measure.
Also it sucks 9mm has been going down a lot but .45 has not which I shot the most...
Let me know how that CZ is? I want to send a p01 to CGW or CZC to get some work done eventually... I miss my P01 I sold.
It's been awhile, but I thought I would bump my thread.... haven't been posting much due to work and shooting bit more....
This is my new favorite shooter...Show Image(http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc467/jpm804/Pistols%20and%20Rifles/56d717dd-c969-482d-acad-e7400ea7cc1c_zpschbpxrxt.jpg)Show Image(http://i1213.photobucket.com/albums/cc467/jpm804/Pistols%20and%20Rifles/8b1aacd6-9aa7-4f27-9725-08e07b42953a_zpsz5awk7sr.jpg)
Since I'm shooting a bit more and ammo is pricey... Ive decided to reload my ammo now.. just started but its been fun learning... we got any other reloaders out there?
Next purchase might be an agency glock.
Did you say Agency Glock ....
Just got it back a week ago, finally slapped the sights on and took it out on Friday... ^^^^ Now that is cool, I like the fact that you have all that paperwork. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Hey this thread is getting a little necro. I got this a few days ago just in time for this years hunting season! It's a Browning BPS 12 gauge shotgun with a 28" barrel and a 3-1/2" chamber. Mossy oak camo with dura touch armour coating. I have since removed all the horrible stickers and replaced the front bead with a HiViz Magna Comp sight to help with eye dominance issues. I'm left handed and this model is a bottom load and bottom eject so it can be used by left and right handed shooters! I'll be firing it for the first time in the next few days to a week. I'll try remember to take some action shots!
There aren't many things in this world that sound more satisfying than the pump on a nice 12 gauge shotgun.Hey this thread is getting a little necro. Nice. I have a 12ga Ithaca pump action with bottom load and eject for the same reason, I shoot lefty because I'm left eye dominant but right handed. I swear bottom eject shotguns just handle better. I also personally prefer a pump to a semi for some reason when it comes to shotguns, but I'd still love to hear how you like that gun.

Is that... a MK12?
Literally my first day posting on GH in like forever, and you post this right after I come back... You must be an angel sent down from heaven, baby.
That is absolutely beautiful.... I'm so jealous every time I see your photos and videos on Youtube... I really need to live where you do and go shooting with you.
Remarkable thing you have there. I can't wait to see the videos on Youtube.. assuming you'll post some vids :P
Move to West Virginia:
"Today West Virginia lawmakers ignored heavy objections from law enforcement, desperate pleas from Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and common sense, overriding a veto and passing a law that makes it legal for adults to carry concealed guns without training and without permits."
When I saw your location I was thinking it's rather surprising that'd be legal in Birmingham but I guess it's Birmingham not "Beh-min-goom" xD .Show Image(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160806/c8aee121826de4640dd8b669b77a3262.jpg)

I assume you're being sarcastic, but they are just completely thick. 100%, pure, unadulterated stupidity.
And every time I say I come from Birmingham people assume i'm like this.
Bought this yesterday in California, won't be able to get after Dec. 31, 2016. We are limited to 10 rounds, the 30 round was just for the pic. It's a 10.5" barrel AR-15 pistol. Never fired. No upgrades. Yea, it's twice the price as the rest of the US:How do you plan to keep it in compliance after the new law takes effect? Don't you have to make it so it is top loaded? (no more bullet button?)

I honestly have no idea.
The actual laws/rules/guidelines are murky and won't be written until October.
It was a ballsey purchase considering the crazy restrictions coming down.

Might get lucky and be one of those that you can keep and be legal to own, just no longer able to sell.
PSA update for any California gun peeps:
Soooo...there's about 10 more days in California to purchase items that will be banned (evil black assault weapons of mass destruction with pistol grips, flash hiders, etc).
I've grabbed an AR pistol, AR rifle, and complete AR lower so I have 3 items to register as assault weapons (RAW) next year. I drew a line in the sand and decided these are the most likely, affordable, and easiest to keep when compared to the litany of other rifles that are affected (SCAR, Tavor, AR-10, etc). This is a California thing, not national and has no bearing on the presidential elections. It's forecast that the gun laws will get even stronger in a couple years when the next state governor is elected.
My goal now is to take some great SHOT WITH IPHONE photos of the guns. LOL

They pushed it out another year, we can still buy our evil ar lowers of mass destruction. The deal that's gonna really suck are the new ammo laws.
People keep forgetting that criminals don't follow laws, it's crazy.

WUT???
All the rifles I see are featureless (no pistol grip or a grip-wrap, no flash hider, etc) or the "break the action open" mod.
Are you referring to the evil features? Or the actual RAW registration process? I know the serialization and registration of 80% was July 2017 but is now July 2018? It's so unclear.
I wound up purchasing an AK47 on 12/21/16 in the nick of time! And fortunately I built a few 80% the last week before New Years and took dated picks (AR-10, AK-47, Ak-74). I enjoyed that so much I'm going to build more this year, but those will be 2017 built and subject to possibly different laws?

Side Arm I carry is the PX4 Storm by Beretta, uses 9mm ammo. 17 rnd magazines with options for 19mag. Also can mount red dot to the pistol.Any reason why EO Tech? Curious, as they just had their buyback program and I sent mine back for a full refund. Good sight, and the buyback problem wouldn't have affected me, but I didn't use it enough to justify the cost. I've been looking at the Vortex SPARC AR for a cheap optic, and I did see a Trijicon MRO for $340 but it sold out instantaneously.
Love it, never had any problems. No jamming at shooting ranges and easy to clean. Safety switch on the side.Show Image(http://www.beretta.com/assets/0/15/DimGalleryLarge/px4stormfull_zoom001.jpg)

Here's what I've always wondered:
Guns, like other precision hardware (e.g. keyboards), can be things of beauty, and there's obviously a lot of interesting history and esoterica involved in 'em.
But the attraction to "shooting sports"—where does it stop and start? Is it just the appeal of good machinery, competition, comraderie, improving strength and skills, and of course getting to wear ear protection?
Or does it have its basis in our primal desire to kill and destroy stuff, to reassure the pre-cooperative, pre-civilization parts of our brains that we have the power, if need be, to forcefully assert our own interests over those of others and survive no matter what?
I'm just wondering, you know, where it lands on the evolutionary scale, generally speaking.

Eh,
Personally,
It was having something for defense (used twice, no actual firing).
That requirement being met, for fun and "therapy".
Pretty fun going out to the remote dirt bank and setting up multiple items downwind. :p
Time at the range can be fun as well.
Therapy: Eh, So far, i have left the shooting session happier than i went in. So there's that :p
