Is the grip on the Model 28 the stock one? It looks nice.

Just found this pic I took a while back of my Poker and some Winchester Black Talons.

Show Image

Oh I just noticed I forgot to answer your 1st question:

No the stocks are new. The person who sold me this revolver had rubber hogue grips on them. The original grips are long gone as the revolver is many decades old.

The hogue grips were very practical, but I didn't like the aesthetics, so I bought those new grips from Ebay. They came from Thailand from the crafter's market in Bangkok Thailand. They were hand carved by some Thai wood worker to mimic original Smith and Wesson grips. They did a decent job.

Ah, alright. I'm a big fan of Hogue grips but I agree that they don't look very nice. I think wood is generally better looking on firearms even though it's not always as practical.

Cool... Looks like a lot of fun. I can't do 3 gun since I only have 1 gun for competition. I went to a USPSA match today.

Nice shooting!

How does USPSA differ from IDPA?

Thanks!! That was my 2nd USPSA match. It's more about speed and less tactical. In IDPA you have to conceal, shoot behind cover, and shoot targets in specific order. In USPSA you can shoot in any order you want. You can reload any time versus only reload at slide lock in IDPA. I think it's more hardcore. There were a few people with open guns which you'll never see in IDPA match.

Nice video's CS and mmmty, keep them coming. Definitely makes me want to compete ...

Sadly to say with a combination of a crazy work schedule and expensive ammo prices and availability.. my range trips have been pretty few and far between.... I wanted to start competing but waiting for ammo availbility and prices to be better before I start...

How is everyone doing on finding ammo in their area?

ComradeSniper - how far were the targets in the last section of your video when you shooting your AR? I am jealous of the wide open area you get to shoot those matches... Also nice to see the AK get some action  ;D

mmmty - pretty good shooting.. I knew USPSA was going to suck you in soon.. Those shooters intimidate  me from just wanting the videos from their equipment and has quick they shoot... your right with USPSA its all about speed... also that scoring is something I still havent figured out.

Just to add a pic, new grips for my 1911:

Pretty good looking!! I like the rear sight and the extended barrel on that 1911.

I was a little intimidated the first time I did USPSA too. But I got over it when I went to the 2nd match. I think IDPA is more practical but USPSA is more fun. IDPA is perfect for someone who wants to practice conceal carry skills. USPSA is about how fast you can shoot while still being somewhat accurate.

I'm definitely more safe than I am accurate lol.

I'm a safety hawk. The pistol I'm most accurate with is my 1911.

If I remember correctly there was one set of targets at 100m and another set out at 200m.

Thought I would post my new pickups.... with the crazy California legislation ramping up, I wanted to fill up the collection before they started banning everything ....  :(

Let's say, its almost like X-mas in the summer time  :p ...

I am surprised I never had any shotguns up to now so what's better than your first shotgun... your first and second shotgun at the same time...

Remington 870 Tactical and Benelli M4

Who can ever have too many AR15 pattern rifles??  :p

LaRue PredatAR 5.56 .... waited almost a year for this thing to finally get to me and it was worth the wait..

Colt 6920 ... always wanted a colt since its so historic with the AR15.

Some more Full-size Polymer Pistols to the Collection...

XDM 4.5 9mm and G17 Gen4 FDE

mmmty.... yea ended up getting both since I couldn't decide.. I basically did the same thing when I couldn't decided between a keyboard.. buy them now and sell if  I don't use it.

Yes bikes can be pricey... I too have been looking into bikes also for the exercise factor. I'm going to have to ping you and Demik for tips maybe soon.

Yeah, where I grew up in northeast Texas, everyone seemed to have a gun rack.  Sometime around the early 90s people stopped that as much, due largely to theft.  You don't see it much any more aside from rural areas like you say.  That said, there was a guy with an AR-style rifle in his rack driving around San Marcos the other day.  Never had seen that before.  I assume he didn't leave it there when he left the truck though... it wouldn't be there long.

just bought my first .22lr rifle (marlin 795). They said everyone needs at least ONE 22lr, so why not? :) can't wait to shoot it. The best part is California's 10 day waiting period before you can pick it up :D!!

It looks sooooooooooooooooooooo cute:)

Congrats on the .22 ... like you  I too enjoy the cali 10 day wait

It was a good day, took out both the new shotty's and had a blast.... not sure why I never got one sooner.

Now you have no excuse not to do 3 gun.

Hell .... i'll like to be able to shoot 1-gun for now ..hahahaha

where are those CZ's pics I have been waiting for ????

I was supposed to get a CZ Protek last month but haven't heard anything about it. They told me I would get a CZ Accu Shadow this month but we'll see...

I know how you feel, been waiting on a Mossberg 930 JM Pro for a few months now.

At least I should have all the parts I need for my new AR build by the end of the week!

I was looking at the Mossberg 930 JM also, but found a used benelli m4 for a good price considering the times...

What are the specs on the AR build?

To give you a quick overview; 14" Centurion Arms Modular Rail with a 16" barrel, Magpul STR Stock, BCMGunfighter charging handle, Umbrella Corp Grip, and Dueck Defense rapid transition sights. Don't have the money for an optic or a muzzle brake yet, but it won't be long before I do. I'll put up some pics as soon as I get my last few parts.

Congrats on the shotguns btw, they're by far my favorite type of gun to shoot.

How do you like the Magpul furniture on that 870 as far as function goes? I'm thinking about getting some for my Mossberg. It looks good btw
I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

Must be nice being able to fire a shotgun at a shooting range.  Most places around here don't allow it.  That's okay though, I just go out into the desert and shoot at abandoned cars, microwaves, and whatever else people dump.  Plus I can drink while I shoot, and nobody is around to say anything!

I actually like the magpul furniture since the stock shortens the length of pull on it which I wanted since I thought the original stock was a bit long for me.

Also the forend is a little bit bigger than the stock forend so to better get hold of it for racking it. also its nice you can add rails on it of you want to add a light.

Definitely worth the purchase for me...

but you can burn some sinners as a compensation!

on a serious note, i very much enjoy plinking.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
