Have you seen a 42 keycap?!
« on: Thu, 28 November 2013, 13:58:41 »
Like the heading says, a while back I saw what must be a HHGTTG theme yellow keycap with a blue (i think) 42 ontop.. I went WOW! And moved on and cant rememberwhere I saw it.. If some has it saved or knows the thread can you post the pic or link. Cheers.
Oh & happy thanks giving to the American GHers!

I think that was a zinc cap that had the 42 sandblasted onto it, pretty sure ripster posted it over at reddit.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Someone had a yellow on blue doubleshot key in their avatar picture for awhile... can't think of who though. Possibly came from SP crap bags, I do remember some people getting some random 2 digit number legend keys. I kept imagining keyboards for bingo callers.

Where was this?  Ripster had a 42 key but it was a prototype click clack.  Never seen this zinc cap.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

All you need now is a key with the question on it.

If you can't get hold of a 42 key via conventional channels, you might see if WASD can make one/some for you.

Like... buying from the classifieds/eBay/etc or from a store, i.e. the "conventional" (normal) ways of buying things.

AFAIK, ClickClack uses some type of thermoset resin for his caps, but I am not certain.
