Keyboard of the Month - May - Vote
« on: Fri, 16 June 2017, 16:03:03 »
This is late, even for me, and for that, I apologise. But we do have three nominees for you to cast your eyes over, and if you could vote for one of them this month I would be eternally grateful!

Our first nominee is ba7777's Goupil 1800

More pictures can be found here

Next up is aaron6301's Honeywell Viper

The picture was initially posted here

Finally we have dgneo's refurbished TGR Jane

More pictures can be found here

As per usual the poll will last for seven days and the winner will go in the pool to win 2017's Geekhack Keyboard of the Year! Good luck to the three entrants!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Hmmm tough decision: a Groupil with a formidable nav cluster, the Viper with subtle underbody lighting, or a classy TGR.
What mood am I in for this month I wonder?

Took a while to decide, but voted :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Easy choice for me
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Congratulations ba7777! I have definitely got a soft spot for an 1800 (and a trackball) and I think the subtle colour changes are perfect  :thumb:

Grats ba7777!

Also thanks for the nomination and all the votes, was pretty shocked when I saw the board up here.
