Full Mechanical Keyboard In Europe - Blue or Brown
« on: Sat, 02 December 2017, 06:11:32 »
Hello everyone, glad to be again here :)

I switched jobs and now I work for the government. My employer provided me with a computer and set of peripherals, all of them by DELL. First of, I love the one-line enter setup with long LSHIFT. DELL keyboard has it. But I miss the feel of mechanical keyboard I get at home.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to buy decent (not aiming for top brands) mechanical keyboard in EU? It should have either blue or brown switches, but I prefer blue. Full layout (I got a HUGE table). And most importantly, US layout - one-line ENTER and long LSHIFT.

Thank you all very much :)

I didn't even know these sites exist. This is the first time I have ever pinged into Belgium :D Why is the Uniqey so expensive compared to the DAS? Is DAS any good these days?

It's made by GMK and it allow some degree of customization.

You can probably still get a great deal from a Chinese distributor off aliexpress or taobao to Czech, no?

Yeah, my first mechanical keyboard was from qtan but I can't find him anywhere. I found some nice Duckys on ebay but I don't know anthing about the sellers. If anyone knows a decent seller on ebay/aliexpress I would be eternally grateful.

I doubt anyone can actually upset tp4. I guess he is covertly hinting that blue is better than brown.

Here's a list of Ducky's partners on their official website.

Thank you very much :D I was afraid I did a noob mistake :D I am so very pro-MXBLue. I gravitate towards this Leuopold: https://mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/leopold-fc900r-pd-blue-grey-ansi-mx-blue_298/

I can write my own letter on the front of the keycaps.

Leopolds have a good reputation, I'd say it's a good choice.

Thank you for all your help. I have Keycool 87 - Blacks at home. Bought from qtan back in 2013. Amazing keyboard given the price and history. Hundreds of hours between Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Titanfall 2, Overwatch, Fallout 4, Stardew Valley (I now play with controller)  not to mention typing. But I want something loud for my workplace so I could keep my doors closed - floor boss insist on " doors always open policy".

I will go with leupold since it has grey keycaps from the getgo.

Blues? It's supposed to be hard to be fired from a government job, but do you really want to go and annoy your new colleagues with a noisy keyboard?

Yes, everyone has their own office and we share the main hall where courtrooms already are and therefore people from outside. I hate that visitors wander the hall and look into my office as if I am some kind of animal in a ZOO. I just want to have an excuse to keep my doors closed. I will present the keyboard as medical equipment so they won't forbid me from using it.

Is there a reliable ebay/aliexpress seller that doesn't have problems to send into Europe? Also, what brands on ebay/aliexpress are to look for? I have kind of luck that my Keycool is so nice but other brands have faulty PCBs and off-brand switches.

You can't go wrong with a Leopold, are you going with the FC750?

I will most likely go with this: https://mykeyboard.eu/catalogue/leopold-fc900r-pd-blue-grey-ansi-mx-blue_298/

Very nice, those keycaps are beautiful! I was seriously thinking about asking my dad to bring a Leopold back from overseas but I have my wallet reserved for buying another board...

I like the keycaps too :D When I bought my Keycool it had black thin plastic keycaps - tall ones. Letters started to smudge the next day so I started to look for new keycaps. Firstly I bought old keyboard that used memebrane switches but keycaps were the same as on mechanicals. But I only salvaged the letters not function keys. Then I bought a set of function keys from signatureplastics but they were uneven height. Then one of my friends here offered me used set of blank grey/blue keys exactly same as is on this Leupold. I use it to this day. I only wrote the letters on the front of the keycaps ;)

The Leupold will be bought from the first pacheck I will get here ;)
