The Alps Trilogy Part 3: SKCM Orange & Alps history
« on: Sat, 19 March 2016, 12:04:41 »
And finally for the conclusion of the trilogy! Last week I talked about the start of the series with SKCL Green; in this video we look at where Alps took the design from there. Also finally a side-by-side comparison of orange and salmon Alps!

Great video! Really set the record straight on Alps. There is couple more obscure switches you didnt mention, but I feel they are one off space bar switches like SKCL Grey.

Also tell me, do you think switch plates make a difference? For example Grey vs White switch plates? Because I have white and grey plate SKCM Orange and SKCM Salmon and I swear the white switch plate SKCM Orange and Salmon feel almost exactly the same as you said, but I feel that there is a slight difference between them and my older grey plate SKCM Orange switches.

I purposely didn't include specialist switches like spacebar switches, lock switches, dual-action switches etc.

I'm sure there is a difference in sound between tall and short switchplates. I can't say for sure whether there is a difference in feel between any different kinds of switchplate. If there is, I doubt it'd be significant - insignificant compared to many considerations at least, including condition, lubrication, material, etc.

Even tiny differences in tactile/click leaf seem to make a big difference, though.
