It's a nice one, nice tablet as well enjoy. Draw me a clack!
I will draw you a clack as soon as I get a hang of this tablet.. The learning curve is quite steep!
I remember my first wacom tablet and yeah, it takes some getting used to. I have been using a cintiq for the last 8 years and it is absolutely awesome to draw on.
Did you ever use a Intuos or something like that. Something without the integrated screen? I think that is what's throwing me off, having to look at the monitor while manipulating the pen.
Yup, quite a few actually. Started with a
Graphire about 15 years ago which was their first affordable tablet and really small, maybe 4" across! I think the hovering of the pen is what takes the most getting used to simply because you are tracking the mouse visually that way. I think as an artist you tend of do a lot of articulation with fingers and wrist movement which is lost when it comes to a tablet. Keeping the pen tip locked and using your whole arm to move around at first tends to be a little easier to get the hang of it. Just imagine that you're already used to watching the screen and moving your mouse around with out looking, now just imagine doing it while hovering your mouse no more than 1/2" off the desktop!
I found that once you have the tip down and you're making strokes, its fairly easy to track. Its only when you pick it up to go click on something (this is where those intuos shortcut keys are so helpful) that you have to go back and "find" where your cursor needs to be to follow a line or something. Don't forget to draw big and reduce by 50% when you're done - you can hide a lot of 'mess' that way
Let me know if you want some brushes or anything.
