[IC] TYL Nutcracker V2(GB will be live on today 9am EST)
« on: Mon, 29 April 2019, 07:34:38 »
Hello, my friends on Geekhack,
Last year, we created a very lovely switch opener tool and we called it "Nutcracker"
It has really really aroused intense interest among enthusiasts from the community. After we finished production and shipped the product,
we also try to do many surveys to get feedback from buyers/users, we want:

1) To hear real feedback from the user AFTER they used this tool, about the user experience, about how they feel when they use it and etc.

2) Personal discussion about the Pros and Cons.

The final goal is to improve our product in the future.

And today is the date!

We are proud to announce that Nutcracker V2 here, made by TianYue Lab.
V2 has been designed after getting user feedbacks and has been given careful consideration to it.

Every aspect including ergonomics of the tool, not just the cosmetic or looks since it is a tool that has to be held in the user's hand for long periods of time during the usage.
("TianYue" in Chinese means add happiness, that is our initial expectations.)

Looks indeed much better than V1 in my eyes!

The V1 that I got It's sometimes quite hard to take out the bottom piece of the switch, not sure if this a common issue but if so will this be countered in this newer version?

If I didn’t already have both tools already I’d definitely be down for this. Very happy with how my TYL R1 Kailh opener works and the finish is very nice!

This was a part of our design tbh, but yup we heard from users and we fixed this problem. So no worry :)

Don't particularly need another set of these but.. It's just too darn cool! I'm going to have to get myself one or two.

Agree about the bottom of the switch being too difficult to remove.  Ended up not using the v1 due to it.  Hopefully this one does not have the same issue.

Yeah I'm probably in.  Just got my b-stock in and I'm having the same issue above with certain switches and getting the bottoms out of the tool.

Looking forward to this! I got the MD version which I've read is a tight fit on the MD Holy Pandas, so a newer more universal fit is just what I'm looking for!

Looks good! I think I'll be selling my Durgod V1 Nutcracker and getting one of these instead
In terms of design, have you considered using magnets with a ring of hard plastic instead of the rubber gasket?

It works but it's too tight. I had a hard time removing the swtich from the opener.

V1 cannot use for panda switches well.(eg:gsus, og panda, md panda and etc). For panda switches, the bottom housing is slightly bigger than usual switches. V2 fixed this problem.

Good to see that the V2 has Pandas compatibility.

Have you guys considered adding a keychain hole?

I am interested but I'm a little wary after my mx nutcracker v1 always required me to yank out the bottom housing regardless of switch type. Has that been fixed in v2?

He made a video of it in action, opens all switches with ease, and no bottoms get stuck.
