Nobody has said Cyberpunk 2077? What's wrong with you people?  :))
You know I just assumed someone had mentioned it so I didn't. :D But you're right if that hasn't been mentioned that's a big one. Very much looking forward to it.

I've pre-ordered the collectors edition and will be going to my first midnight opening ever if the release day sticks this time. I'm super excited.
Awesome!
Did you go all out and get the cyberpunk 2080ti?

Ah hell yeah, never stop dreaming, they were such good games. I even enjoyed the story of SWTOR, the class stories at least, I wasn't as enthused about the most recent expansions.

I need to play that series, I've only heard the most amazing things about it. I stayed away years back after hearing about the bugs, I regret that decision. I should of just played it.

Two things I have been waiting a very long time for, unsure if they would ever materialize but always holding onto faith:
Demon's Souls remaster and Bloodbourne on PC

A lot of people said neither would ever happen, but 2020 has been a very strange year.

I think I'm not looking forward to Baldur's Gate 3 anymore.
I don't like how it looks now - like full 3d view, "multi level" (characters can be up on the hill, below etc)...
I prefer 2d view and all simple - maybe I'm too old, but this full 3d doesn't feel "Baldur" anymore for me...:(

I think people are expecting a Fallout or Witcher and will be pissed when they get a restrictively linear on-rails dialogue sim. There's very little of what I would quantify as gameplay, that is when the player has control over the in-game avatar. It is a dressed up walking sim tech demo that is almost all cutscene, and I think people are expecting an actual game. The shooting/gunplay sections look atrocious, as the player stands still not moving or taking cover instead sorting through sub menus, OR it is totally on-rails where you have no control. It looks really bad. A beautiful idiot game.

The Pc version looks pretty nice,   the console versions look a bit anemic, buhhh that's last gen console footage not latest.

Not sure we've seen enough to draw conclusions though.

Until I see actual game play where the player is doing something in the world where it is not on-rails/guided and it is not a fmv or dialogue. None of the trailers have shown me ANY actual game play, even with the words in the title of the videos. That to me is super sus.

I feel like I wanna play an RTS. Looked at Riftbreaker a few weeks ago I'm not sure it's a 'true' RTS but it looks kind of fun.

I've got Tunic in my Steam Wishlist as well. It looks like a few Zelda/Dark Souls type of experience.

Not sure there's much else I'm excited about. I've been playing Guitaroo Man, Parappa and Groove Coaster games lately so I'd love a new music game but I'm not seeing much happening in that space ATM.

I am trying to justify why anyone would buy a new console over a pc and legitimately cannot find any real reasoning. Why do consoles even sell anymore, is it just out of consumer habit? PC offers so many more games than every console in history combined, is able to run all that console hardware as well, costs about the same amount of money a the new consoles with more performance and the option for much more+expansion, the software is cheaper, online gaming is no problem, pc has better and far more peripheral options, plus you can hook it up to your tv and game from the couch regardless.

I really don't understand why consoles exist at this point, or what kind of consumer buys them.

I don't mean to come across as 'PC master race' but at this point the hardware lines are so blurred they are meaningless. The only thing that would have piqued my interest is the PS5 being xcompat with every previous PS gen console. The XBSX(still a really stupid name) is 100% just a watered down pc.

I am trying to justify why anyone would buy a new console over a pc and legitimately cannot find any real reasoning.

I thought it was about simplicity, but the last time I messed with a friend's consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) the UIs were a cluttered mess; I don't really get it either any more outside of exclusives which seem to be diminishing.

Initial price does favor consoles when we're talking about getting that eye candy on PC, but when you start factoring in console subscription fees, moving to a new console every few years, the cost of games, and lack of backwards compatibility, PCs just win in the long run. I'm just now saving for a new build after 7 years, but this rig still runs better then the consoles of it's time and probably keeps up with current gen.

I mean, it could also be aesthetics of the machine too, but you can get a powerful PC to fit into a good SFF (small form factor) case these days and it wouldn't stand out any more than a console. So... Who knows?

Cheaper upfront cost, exclusive console-only games* (which is a significant factor), this gen especially the price to performance is arguably better than PC (this wasn't the case in prior gens) and during these times the availability of a single console vs the complete gamble on availability of individual PC parts is appealing.

I've also read consistently impressions from people preferring gaming on a separate device than they work from and being in a separate room, which for PC would mean some streaming setup (which ideally would need to support the resolutions/HDR appropriate for some games).

Obviously from a broader perspective PC has its significant advantages but I'm not surprised why especially this gen consoles are appealing.

*For Nintendo consoles there are some decent alternatives here for emulation but there are technical barriers to dumping/account maintenance/digital only purchases that only someone really invested in going that direction would want to bother with.

I'd prefer having a games console in my living room than a PC. My parents use it for Netflix. The 6 year old can't mess it up. It's cheaper than having two PC's.

I end up buying more games on Steam than I do on PS4 Pro though because they're generally much cheaper and there are better indies.

God of War: Ragnarok, love the God of War series - it and a handful of other games are the only reason why I still own a Playstation.  I know it would push me to get a PS5 (also another Uncharted or anything from the Resistance: Fall of Man series).

I WAS looking forward to picking up the new Yakuza game until I found out it is the same plot as 0.
MC gets framed for murder, goes to jail, gets out looking for revenge, beats up all his previous allies, all his friends get killed, and he becomes head of whatever.

Literally beat for beat the same exact plot outline. Plus they make you pay for the minigames like DLC. Gonna take a hard pass on Like A Dragon.

Was watching a review of that thinking plot wise it looked very familiar, aside from the switch in battle style. Nagoshi is like the most creative guy ever I sort of wish he was freed up to do something totally different with the Yakuza team.

Didn't realise we were talking about sequels that probably wouldn't happen my answer is always Total Annihilation 2. Stupid Wargaming sitting on the license I'd have happily settled for a remaster but that'll never happen.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition - I never really played those games in the past and always heard about this franchise being so amazing.
Its coming in May 14, being upgraded to 4K and HDR etc I may pick it up and start from the beginning.

Honestly, yes. Sure, Mass Effect 3 had a disappointing ending, but the rest of the series always felt solid to me, even if the first game in the trilogy has not aged very well. Plus, Mass Effect 3's Citadel DLC had one of the most fun stories in the franchise, so that game is very much worth it.

Personally, however, after how much I thoroughly enjoyed Monster Hunter World and Iceborne, I am very much looking forward to Monster Hunter Rise!

It'd be nice if they added Ray-Tracing,  otherwise, even with higher res textures, it looks kinda meh.

I mean, I understand that if you've played the games before. But if you haven't, and might be able to get around some of the clunkiness of ME1? And have all of the games more easily accessible on more modern hardware? I think it'd be worth it. For example, Prototype, a game from the same era, has loads of issues on modern hardware that I know aren't my rig's fault. After all, a 1660 Super should be more than enough to run a game from 2009 considering how well it handles Monster Hunter World, a game from 10 years later. Games from that era are just starting to have compatibility issues with modern systems, and re-releases like the ME trilogy will be good ways to experience the games for people who've never played them and don't want to buy the old versions or the hardware you would need to run them well at this point.

I only ever played through ME1, and what I remember loving most is checking out new planets and distress call missions.
When someone told me there's no aesthetic changes when you swap armor in 2 turned me off the game at the time. Same thing happened with Dragon Age2.
Looking back everyone says both games are great, and wiser me now knows aesthetic changes do not a good game make.

Right now hyped for the upcoming and final Binding Of Issac DLC, that game has been a part of my life for 10 years.

You should definitely go back and give it a shot, or try it in the remaster if you can! In my opinion, ME2 is hands down the best game of the trilogy. Best combat, mixed with my personal favorite stories.

As for Binding of Isaac, I know the game is iconic, and I know that it basically pulled both roguelike games and indie games into the spotlight by force, but I just cannot get into it like I did when it first came out. It just feels too stiff to me, especially when compared to other roguelikes in the same vein, like Enter the Gungeon. Don't let me rain on your parade, though! This is entirely just my preference, and I hope you enjoy that DLC thoroughly!

Personally, the next DLC I'm looking forward to is 100% Doom Eternal's Ancient Gods 2, whenever they decide to announce and release it. I'm still working through the first one, but it is so amazing I'm already anticipating part 2!
