Hi there, thanks for your kind words and support. Unfortunately communication with GMK is a huge pain in the ass but we will go through, i can promise that.
I'm working hard to get the GB date as soon as possible.

Bad news: 6 days ago i suddenly woke up at 5:10AM because russian army started bombing civilian airport in Kiev (i live in about 10km from it) i couldn't leave on the first day so now i don't have a choice but to stay at my home laying down in the hallway to avoid windows during airstrikes. Our army is fighting like hell, there is some avengers-level kinda **** going on right now. Surreal...

I don't know how will it all turn out for me, but we'll hope for the best. There is can be a big problems with network and cells so i don't know when i'm gonna be able to provide further updates. I'll try to set up a date and other stuff as soon as i can.

You, like the others before you, seem unable to grasp that there is only one possible set of arabic legends available from gmk, as they are double shot plastic and thus have to be molded. It’s either those sublegends or no sublegends, and indeed those people were also replied to, as you are.

1) I didn't address this not because i don't have a time for it (although right now i really don't have much time) but because i don't think that it is really worth addressing. Why? Because this is just a font for presentation, when you are buying a keycap set you are buying a pieces of plastic, idea, color scheme etc. but not the font. At the start i've tried about 4-5 different fonts and this is the one that i liked the most just from a designer perspective, for me it's beautiful and gives an middle east notes, as well as stands out from the others presentations. Think of this is a part of design, it doesn't have to be perfect in terms of arabic calligraphy. Also, this font was created by Muslim person so i really doubt that it is so much wrong in relation to arabic people or culture to be offended by it. And this is one of the reasons i didn't make a novelties with arabic symbols, last thing i wanted is to step on someone's toes.

3) The only thing i'm profiting off is my idea and the time that i've put in this project. As well as any other keycap designer who's making a japanese or korean or any other keycaps with sublegends.

Which words are you talking about?
If you mean most of the words in the images (like in the OPs footer), it seems to me it's not an attempt to write in arabic, but rather using arabic letters as a sort of font to imitate latin letters. The text makes perfect sense in english if you read the characters that way, at least?

If you're going to appropriate a culture for your own gain, at the least you should address people from that culture when they criticize your project. "I don't think that it is really worth addressing" shows you have no respect for Arabic people... Presentation is part of the brand of a project and does matters. Some fake Arabic font is tasteless which is why you are getting so many people criticizing it.

Living in a white dominated society is so tiring because the west constantly appropriates others' cultures and then makes lazy excuses, although I have to say calling using the Arabic language *your* idea is another level. People who make Japanese or Korean keycap sets commonly partner with people from those communities or are from those communities themselves. If they aren't doing either of those, I'd have the same criticism for them.

I feel like I should also add, in case you don't understand why this is in bad taste, that you can imagine someone doing the same thing with culture from an African country and subsequently ignoring criticism from any black person in the thread who says it looks like nonsense. These situations are the same, and if you think my former example is okay, that is pretty concerning.

Conversely, that would mean that all other sets are profiting from Roman culture because they are using the Latin alphabet lmao. When it get's ultra specific like using the Inuktitut legends for GMK Iceberg, I might agree, but Arabic is such a widely spoken language that this criticism is simply nonsense.

People will find a way to be insulted by anything these days. If this was presented in a way which was any way offensive, I'd maybe react to how certain parts of it is presented, but it's so very mundane. Most of the western world adopted Arabic a long time ago, by the way. It was the numbers back then, and they were changed a bit to fit into the western world, but I think arabs were happy about that, not outraged.

Whenever someone uses concepts from my culture the wrong way, I can't really do anything but laugh at it. Anyone with any form of knowledge about the subject will know how ridiculous it looks and laugh as well. But I appreciate seeing references to my own culture, and understand why people are using it without taking offense to how they are using it, unless it's in a clearly offensive way. Like how neo-nazis think nordic style runes have anything to do with fascism..

Written language belongs to everyone, and it's not like this set is any form of mockery. It's rather the opposite, since the author of the set says they enjoy the esthetics of it.

I've seen plenty of ICs that use Japanese/Korean/etc subs where people from those cultures criticized the way it was used, and the creator was receptive to that feedback, so like you said, this situation would be no different.

IMO it's nothing to get super bent out of shape over; if someone uses an alphabet or something from my culture and does it badly, I'd just shrug, skip the set, and move on. But different people have different tolerance for that sort of thing.

I really like the ghostly glow, like it's arabian sea with a bit of prince of persia or Aladin, ghost/genie glow. It really does bring me back to the nightly glow, of the bioluminesce or even just ghost ships. Comparing this to hammerhead, basin and even deep sea predator, they have similar colours but not the nightly glow this set brings.

I hope the keycaps will retain the ghostly glow.

I just didn't know it would have such an impact knowing that this is only a presentation font for IC thread. I mean to me it looks awesome and creates arabic vibe, as far as i know the font was created by a muslim person so i don't think that this is offensive in any way to the point where i should change everything, i see this as a taste thing, what you think is tasteful i might see as tasteless and vise-versa which is completely okay.
