this is not what i thought when i read the title, was really expecting different shades of beige in the base colour, instead of the legend. :(
oh well, guess the idea is back on but will now need to be GMK 50 shades of beige.

The only thing I don't like about it is how some keys have lower contrast than the others. The OG Handarbeit has pretty consistent contrast across the "board" except a couple yellow keys.

Hi everyone!
I've updated the IC a little bit, cleaned up the IC form a bit too. Please check the second post in the IC for a log of updates on the set! In short, we're looking well on our way to group buy later this year!
I just wanted to respond to some of the comments and criticisms of the set, just so you know that I do take your feedback into consideration!
First up: Row 5
It's a beige set, I'm unsurprised that peoeple want R5. I've changed the IC form to reflect this demand, please let me know which way you'd prefer I did R5 (if at all) in the form.
Secondly: Yellow on beige is a bit hard to see
I understand that the render does make this colour combo a bit difficult to read, and it has the potential to be a bit difficult in person. I have full confidence it will turn out fine in the final set. GMK Soware has a similar yellow on beige key and it looks perfectly fine to me. I don't intend to change any of the colours in the set, as it wont be true to the source material (KA1953 and Handarbeit)
Third: Mod pipe key
This is in the IC form. I personally don't use it, but if you do, let me know!
Fourth: Icon mods
Not happening, sorry. This set is based on KA1953, and I intend to keep it that way.
Fifth: Ditching the numpad.
Also not happening, sorry. The price cut of removing it from base is far outweighed by the price of numpad as a child kit. There's too many good layouts with numpads these days to leave it out.
Sixth: Sublegends
This was a tougher one, but I've ultimately decided against them. They just thematically don't make much sense after all. Maybe one day an alt-alpha kit will be run as a seperate IC, but not this time around.
Seventh: Scroll lock and num lock legends
They're from the OG Handarbeit board, they're cool and I'm keeping them.
Eighth: Running this in PBT
Sorry, but no. I understand GMK is expensive and that PBT options are really good these days, but the inspiration for this set is made of ABS, and so will this set.
Nineth: R4/R5 caps lock key
You'd be surprised how many people use it (including myself). It's the best and it's gonna stay in the set.

This is genius.
Still wouldn't buy it.
I like this more than I should. Although I'd highly suggest adding a UK vendor as well rather than just a blanket EU/UK one. Brexit decided to make things a lot more expensive to get them across the channel when the cost of these sets + addons are what are.
Just noticed something, but the Scroll Lock in the current kit renders should go with icon-only modifiers (like in GMK Handarbeit). If you're going to switch modifier styles to icon plus text, you should also revert the Scroll Lock style to the original kind -- like in GMK KA1953 / Classic Retro.
This might be the greatest GMK set to ever exist, once it is finally made. I, like others, can scarce wait for the day this GB opens.
As an Aussie who was born in Germany, the amalgam of beige and Handarbeit that exists here in these renders fills my heart with joy and pride - it's just so, so beautiful and ugly at the same time :D
And I may be in the minority on this... but if in some way we could get 1.5 R5 'Super' keys and stepped Control bro, that would - for me - take this from an 11/10 to a 20/10 :p
I really like this set and am waiting for it to be launched :)
That said, are u willing to consider an icon mods child kit? Mainly for the shift, caps lock, backspace, enter. Not so much for the control/Alt

Judging by the popularity of the recent Xmi Handarbeige set, this original GMK version deserves a re-run.

Hoping it hits MOQ or the vendors at least buy up until MOQ. Which in itself should be a more common practice.

I love beige. I also love handarbeit, but this set is more niche than both of those. The contrast on certain keys (enter) is almost illegible.
I do think there's a market for this set, but it is a strange time to run a GMK groupbuy. I am simply concerned this set will be challenging to get across the finish line, and it will be a repeat of the first attempt.
My personal suggest would be to wait until GMK is really pumping again, wait times go down, and GB sales go up to try to run this.
Regardless, I do want this set to succeed (really true for any set), and I wish you luck.
