Wait.

Why is a board shipped from Malaysia to Chicago in Korea now?

I've been wondering that as well. Isn't kin25's board seperate from Joey's?
No, it's the exact board I bought from yuktsi and the caps I bought.

Ok I gotta ask 'cause this is confusing. Korea =/= Malaysia or USA. Shouldn't the new concern be that it's in a different country? If I had something returned to "sender" and it popped up in Mexico instead of Canada, I'd be pretty worried.

Regarding shipping practices: there was a pic posted that showed the board sitting in padding.  Was the board additionally wrapped before being placed in there?

At this point I figure everyone is as confused as I am and I'm just glad a GH member has it.

But honestly I figure I'm losing a bunch of money either way so why try make myself more confused/ angry/ dissapointed than I am now.

The whole story is a bit shady, I'd love for yuktsi or kin to explain how it ended up in korea.

Perhaps a recycled box with an old address under the wrapping?

The answer? Korean kustom white kollar krime...

Yuktsi has a 456GT. He wants to sell it, but make double the money. He "sells" this one board to both kin25 and Joey Quinn. He intentionally makes the US intl post label unreadable, packs it poorly and writes the return address to kin25's residence.

He knows Joey will never get the board, but insures it for $1000 so that Joey doesn't complain and can just get his money back.

Joey (supposedly) gets his money back and everyone gets what they want. Yuktsi leaves GH forever and nobody ever figures out that he is Pacifist.

That was my thought.  If Kin sent something to yuktsi and they just returned it to the return address on the box it would end up there.

Though you'd have to wonder why the person sending it back didn't question why it was in the US.  :))

Because that was from the wrapping, which was separated from the box - no way to link them at that point.

Yeah. Still, the box has to be wrapped. I will do something about it. It's the address on the box that saved the board.

The real answer *dequips tinfoil hat*

It was a box from kin25, somehow the shipping label came off.

Tell me a story

Here's a story,
Of a lovely lady,
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them with hair of gold,
Like their mother --
The youngest one in curls.

Here's a story,
Of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men,
Living all together,
Yet they were all alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That this group must somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch.

The Brady Bunch...
The Brady Bunch...
That's the way we became the Brady Bunch!

Yeah, I bet yuktsi got something shipped from kin25, then reused the box to ship JQ's keyboard. Because it was being wrapped anyway, yuktsi didn't bother to scratch out the old shipping labels from kin25. So once the wrap was torn off, the box looked like it had originated in Korea, so that's where they sent it back to after it failed customs (which probably happened because it wasn't wrapped).

The box was used by kin to ship something to Yuktsi, thus Kin's address is on the box. That's lucky coz it had Kin's address on it, or it might be missing forever. The wrapping paper that had all the details torn off, and the old details were on the box. They returned the keyboard according to the details on the box. So that all make sense now?
I can't just sit here, reading all that hate comments and made up stories throwing at a friend of mine.
I feel sorry for Joey, it is painful to look at those damages. Hope you can get something back from USPS.

I find it cruel that Joey was in distressed over the lost keyboard and when it was found, all yuktsi said was "guess where it is" with a photo and leave it at that for speculation. And then kin came in later to show the same pix and said he received something from yuktsi and pointed out damages to the edge. Poor Joey being toss from one roller coaster ride to another. Hopefully they do have some PMs to clarify this but just reading the thread as a 3rd party is distraughting!

Why? It should be a three party PM! You should be in the know as you are the buyer.

They both have PMs but right now I don't know any more than you do.

Time zones, man. They're probably just waking up over there.

Just spoke with Kin25 and here's his take on what actually happened.

In June, Kin25 shipped tx1800 keyboard to Yuktsi in Malaysia.  Apparently Yuktsi used the box that came from Korea (from Kin25) as the 'inner box' when he shipped 456GT to Joey in US.  You can see that box in 2nd pic in OP, the one has white tape all wrapped around.  That's Kin's box.  He put that box in the 'outer box' (or the wrapper?  I'm not sure) and shipped it to Joey.

When the package got to US customs, they opened it up for inspection.  The fact it was insured for $1000 and had huge metal bars inside probably alerted them enough to open it up.  They obviously weren't very careful with it and ended up damaging the keyboard :(   After the inspection, they should have put everything back together and delivered it to Joey.  Instead they sent the outer wrapping material to Joey and inner box back to kin25 in Korea.  WTF right?  That's because that 'inner box' still had the old label on it.  Kin as the sender and Yuktsi as the recipient.

This is the tracking number for the inner box.  It says the delivery was completed on June 8th in Malaysia.  Then all of a sudden it shows up in USORDA - that's Chicago O'hare customs - a month and a half later.  US customs probably had no idea how to proceed with a package destined to Malaysia so they sent it back to Kin25 in Korea.

TL;DR
Just an unfortunate situation for everyone involved.  I think the US customs screwed up big time on this one.

In this case USPS should have to own up to it..

If Kin was perhaps anyone else, we might not even know where it would have ended up.

Hopefully you can get a big chunk of it back from USPS, Joey.

This, and your money back for the price of the board too.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

He should just cut his loses and ask for his money back. Or a significant price reduction due to the damage.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

I agree. Most people that I know that have had damage while shipping have been able to get money back.

I completely agree. There is no way I would feel comfortable spending that much money on a severely damaged board. I understand people have different opinions on the term "severe" but with any high dollar collectible, any damage should be considered severe IMO.

The scratches/dent completely ruined the chance of resale at a decent price.
