Das I was a dome board, Das II was a Cherry stabilized board, and the Das III is a Costar Stablized board. The Das II internals can be swapped with a G80-3000 (winkey) internals.

Where do you see DAs II and III? I went to their website and all I saw was the Clicky and the Silent version!

Also, does anyone know where I can get custom keycap for backlit keyboard? Like the LED underneath the keycap will shine through?
I looked at WASD website for keycaps, but I couldn't find any information, all i saw was the option for either Laser Etched or Engraved? any help would be appreciated.

Please don't doublepost, just edit your old posts. You might be able to snag a set of Ducky's caps or I think you c an get transluscent caps from SignaturePlastics.

Yea I don't want to get those transluscent caps, I just want whatever the legend ie. letter or picture on the keycap get shined through.  So I guess Ducky is the only company that made these.  I thought WASD is the best when it comes to keycaps.

There's no "best" when it comes to buying keycaps. It is very dependent on what you're looking for.

Fohat.Digs has done them before, I was going to, but have not done so yet. So many rivets for so few that are broken. I know that dfj has also done them, though you'd have to hit him up on the IRC.

And another question: how do you know when a Model M needs a bolt mod? And what does a floss mod do?

Here's a link on the Floss Mod.

And here are some links for the Bolt Mods:

Moose, bolt mods are only to replace the rivets once they've broken off from being brittle. There's also layout changes that you can do, but people don't typically mod to ANSI from ISO or vice versa since both flavors can be had in rather abundant sources.

From IRC. SmallFry determined TKL should be 84%; although I'm sure 80% would work just as well. Math is sexy

They're older versions. The current one is either considered the 3rd revision, or 4th, depending on who you ask. It looks the same, but is made by a different company and has some differences, the most notable being the media keys. Here you can see revs 1, 2, and 3.

Except the GHwhateversizeitis would have a different number depending on what layout you choose.  The one I'm going with, for example is 57.69230769230769230(it keeps going)%.  Going by number of keys on the board is stupid.

In fact, tkl would be two sizes based on that (at minimum), too because of winkey vs winkeyless.

I decree that all purple TKL keyboards be deemed 80%.

Further, that purple GH60s of any layout configuration are considered 60%.

As it is written, so shall it be.

Are there any cons of using a backlit keyboard? Haven't really found anything about it but I know that I read somewhere that it could make it harder to change the switch if you would want to or something similar. I'm close to pull the trigger on a KBT Pure with browns, with or without blue backlight. This will be my first mech (or my second if you count the Model M) btw.

How long does it generally take for laser etched legends on Cherry caps to start wearing off? I feel bad for typing on them knowing that they're in nice shape and one of the rarer(?) sets I have...

Almost all backlit boards I've seen have been plate mounted, so swapping switches is a bit rough in and of itself, requiring desoldering of the switch to do so (unless you have installed a custom plate that makes it easier to swap the switches, and even then, you would have had to desolder at least once). LEDs generally have to be desoldered to be able to remove the switch, but you can modify the top of the housing to be able to remove the switch around the LED.

Also, just read more of your post. A Pure would require you to desolder all of the LEDs to swap the stems and springs out, or you would have to mod the housings. It's not that hard to do. Just a couple clips with something, or a Dremel, as someone else suggested.

According to this thread, they use Costar stabilizers.

If you look on Youtube for a review, maybe you can find a video of someone pulling the caps off so you can see em. Just to double check.

irrelevant answer was here
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I've had some laser etched letters on POM keycaps start fading after a couple of months with heavy use. My fingers don't normally put out a lot of oils, but can during heated gaming; I do practice good keyboard hygiene most of the time though, so not a sloppy person. They just don't last well with heavy use.

Nope, the material (POM) is solid, not a hint of wear; they should also take much longer to (completely) shine than standard ABS (most POM normally have a bit more base shine than ABS that I'm aware of).

Yes, this is my second set of POM caps, and I do notice the base shine, as you mention. Perhaps I'll swap them out with some Cherry DS. Or maybe I should just type on them, being that I enjoy looking at them.
