and when it became a raffle style, if I put another form that make me feel like i'm cheating to this, I literally can't do that.

Okay just found this out:

- Make your google forms entry
- On the final "Thank you" page, instantly click the edit link
- Bookmark the url you end up with.

This will be the link to edit/review your entry forever. Don't share it or I will turn your order into purple/pink.
Unless you got some DSA Hana caps, that is not what you want.

I think it would be a good idea to edit the form since you can edit it now :) getting tons of pms must not be fun.

Hi peeps, I am a still a little overwhelmed by the amount of responses that I am getting. I would like to thank those who made an effort to participate, those who showed enough interest to make this GB possible and Byker who stayed up late to wait for my submission. Thank you.

I've just stopped the Google Form to accept anymore responses. Taking out all the duplicated re-submission, I've received a little more than a hundred responses. I'm definitely feeling more bad than happy, for not being able to fulfill most of the responses. I promise there are more exciting projects coming, Tris/CE be will up in a couple of days, there will be 910 CE for sure and the most exciting of all - TGR Alice (ergonomic layout and yes, Leeku had sent me the layout file for EM7 pcb).

There were mistakes made in the submission form today, last minute of change from fcfs to raffle style and now it became half raffle half fcfs GB. I must apologize for the troubles and frustrations caused. Also, I had forgotten to mention one of the most important event in the thread earlier, due to the lack of sleep. Together with Aconic and Krap, everyone who participated (yup whether you got a slot or not) is entitled to redeem a Aconic Goo or Krap Rabbit.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a nice week ahead. Cheers.

I hope my first submission counted as FCFS (I had to submit 3 responses after the form was incomplete the first time)... If not, I really hope I win this one!  I was one of the ones staying up waiting... Regardless thank you for your awesome designs Yuktsi!  If anything I got to experience all the basic human emotions in only a few hours lol.

Definitely. I woke up 15min before the GB thread was up and looked into the IC, assuming that it would take at least an hour to get approved (and yuktsi not having posted about submitting it, which definitely already happened at that point) I thought I could sleep an hour longer. An hour later I woke up to almost a full page of comments under the GB thread that was approved just when I fell asleep :( .

Let's hope RNGsus is on my side today.

I'm in the same boat. I was going to think on it today but then I had my mind made up for me. Probably for the best as I spend way too much money on keyboards and I really don't even like 65% form factor.

I was quick on the form submission but then had to resubmit to get a diffuser in there (as per Yuktsi). Hopefully that didn't crap on my chances of being in the FCFS half of the orders (if I was indeed quick enough for that). Let us pray.

Well one person submitted for two of his "friends". Maybe an indication. Though I'm sure there was a sensible clean up done before that number was determined.

Good day my friend, I believe I had replied you with a screenshot of all you submission. (with time-stamp and your position in the list). Sorry mate. The first 22/23 basically filled up within the first 10 minutes. That why it was quickly changed to a raffle style. I am selecting the with half raffle half fcfs now. Although it's impossible, I'm still trying hard to make everyone happy. For those submitted multiple times, the time-stamp of your first submission will supersede the later.

CE is basically the reiteration of the original design. With the all the tooling made in the first run and less unforeseen issues, usually I was able to produce more. Got up pretty late today, I am heading out for lunch and will deal with all these later.

Having a nice week ahead guys. Cheers.

I know.  It's an impossible situation.  I hope you didn't take offense or think I was implying it was your fault.  I think everyone here knows that your only intentions were to make folks happy.  It's an awesome board and it deserves the outpouring of attention it's received.

I sadly didn't get a shot (who would have thought that would happen /s). Let's hope CE happens soon and will be in a larger quantity (I think the time in which the form filled should have proved the point that people REALLY want this board).
I hope you are feeling better from flu. Let's hope that I can deliver the orders before the late January.  :thumb:

Just curious, how will unpaid invoices be handled (if they happen)?

Oh yeah, I'm feeling quite a bit better than on Friday and Saturday. Still far from normal, but a lot better, grandma's chicken soup really helped :).

Gutted. My life has lost direction and meaning. :-\ Hope the CE comes along soon so I can get off the couch and wear something other than grey sweat pants. Kidding of course. Super bummed, but glad to know that such awesome boards are coming around these days. Perhaps I'll even draw in for one in 2017. Or 2018.

Congrats to the winners, hope you all enjoy these beauties! (On the bright side, I'm getting very good at saying that.) And congrats to Yuk Tsi on the success- clearly touched a nerve here with this one. FWIW, in my opinion it was far from a ****-show. Everything was done fairly, quickly and transparently. All I could ever want in a GB.

Nope- waiting on that Zeal fella for some awesome 78g's... Also got in some vintage black switches and am debating about re-embracing my linear roots (first mech ever was a Das with reds) on the CP. With Zealios on the horizon think I'll wait and evaluate both. Will definitely post pics when I get it revved up- really looking forward to it. As a waitlist plebeian, I have two wished:

1) Like 5 people drop out of the GB
OR
2) Have mercy on us for the CE GB.

I almost wish I never knew  :'( Thanks for being quick and not leaving us hanging though!

Woohoooo super excited for this yuktsi! Thanks for allowing a few FCFS spots, it's one of the few things I can pull off versus winning raffles XD. Definitely excited to finally have a chance to expand my keyboard collection!

Also just a side point, I love how quickly this was able to go through from IC to GB, and to entry. One of the smoothest I've seen for sure.

haha 910 was initiated long time ago, so long that I can't remember myself. It's a layout that I really want for myself.
If you are following the the Tris IC thread, I think the very first prototype was posted back in March (?)
I think I already had 7 prototypes made before I went to the Tokyo meetup back in May. Hmmmmm.

Highlighted in green is fcfs and purple is raffle. Romevi and Beehatch were the participants of the very first Jane GB, I promised to guarantee them a slot in all future buy.

Also, as a question, would it be possible to change color options and if so, what would the deadline be? I'm pretty happy with the colors I have now, but I might change, since I just picked up a Tiffany Blue TriC from LD's extras sale.

Appreciate if you could make the payment by Friday (2nd Dec 16). Once again, thank you.  :thumb:

Edit: If you want to save the Paypal fee and if you trust you me enough, you can just deduct the Paypal fee from the total amount and send me as gift. I have a phobia for Paypal dispute.

I'm not sure if this is allowed - and even less sure there's even a sliver of a chance of this working out, but:
If anyone is willing to give up their spot, I'm willing to pay way over GB-price for a spot on this, or trade for a combination of a Nuclear Data set + PayPal.
I can't let my dreams be dreams. I wants this and I needs this. Anyone who can make this possible earns a spot in my heart :*

I tried my fair share of raffles, but missed most of the things I was interested in. I've lurked for a while but didn't feel the need for an account until recently, when I started to migrate from Reddit.

I'm hoping that 910 CE will be a larger limited quantity then (even if it means x amount rounds of shipping... I'd even wait a year from payment if necessary). I'm still kinda bummed I missed this...

Wait on the CE group buy man, yuktsi mentioned it earlier in the thread that there will be another run of these.

I would if I could, but with the amount of luck I have in general, once in a blue moon would be too likely for me to get one.

With two posts in your count it doesn't seem you've been around much, especially having registered only two months ago. Have you entered much?

I tried my fair share of raffles, but missed most of the things I was interested in. I've lurked for a while but didn't feel the need for an account until recently, when I started to migrate from Reddit.

Ah, gotcha. I'd keep the chin up. Some have gone months without winning raffles/sales!

Just wondering, are the CE group buys also limited quantity? i wasn't around for the previous group buys  :D

All of yuktsi's boards are limited in quantity.

I'm hoping that 910 CE will be a larger limited quantity then (even if it means x amount rounds of shipping... I'd even wait a year from payment if necessary). I'm still kinda bummed I missed this...

Agreed, still super bummed to have missed this. Interesting, eh... the boards that hit that magic mix of awesome and make us all drool...

Small solace in the Viper GB- good timing for Elton to come along with a rebound board. :) Still will be fired up for the CE round to take another shot at this beaut.

My personal favourite is yellow. I am trying purple and teal.
Worse comes to worst, you will get a black one.

There were total of 60 Jane CE made.
25 with short brass, 25 long brass and 10 with external long brass.

I should expect 50 units for 910 CE. But I doubt if there's still that people interested by then.
Hmmm.

green is pretty good looking. black is a nono for me because you can see solder spots / flux drops on the PCB. :(

Hello all, it has been awhile. I wanted to take some photos at the factory just now, but I ended up not going because of the traffic and rain =(
Basically the machining for top and bottom case is 90% done, left only 2-3 processes.

I will take some photos tmr morning at the factory, before the long Chinese New Year holidays. Cheers.

edit: 910CE GB is likely to be not happening. I will have a few units for sale after this GB, CE should be slightly cheaper.

I've 5 units of CE made in order to meet the MOQ  for anodising. Will have these units for sale later.
As for another 910/65% GB, I am not sure if I am going to do it in near future.
I am sorry.

Can you give some preference to folks who did the numpad groupbuy with you recently? Was really hoping I could land a 910CE to match my numpad (which I think was black top and magenta bottom).

Good chance preference will go to individuals in the waitlist? No idea what yuktsi has planned. MYSTERY

I will have a few units for sale after this GB, CE should be slightly cheaper.

whip em to work faster
:D

good updates!

This is a bit unfortunate to hear on the CE round... but you know, it makes me that much more stoked for you lucky mugs who got in. We knew this was a special beast when it went up and it just got even more special. I for one will never be able to buy every board that comes through (as much as I would love to do so... I do want to stay married) and knowing the 910 just went legend... it's pretty freaking cool. Double congrats to the 30 who will soon get to treasure this baby.  :thumb: :thumb:

Managed to snap some progress pic today. Nothing much to show really.
Basically they are running the last process for the top and bottom case.
Next step would be anodizing the cases and milling the brass.

How/Where will it be announced when these special 5 go on sale?  Also, you should just raffle the current wait list on the spreadsheet for the last 5  :thumb:

Hi guys, all the boards are in the middle of anodizing now. They will ready soon and I hope I can start shipping in April. One of good friends had some sleeves made for me, if the cost is affordable, I will order some to ship with the 910.

Most of them look really good, except for a few that require some rework. I really like the soft/smooth kinda finishing.

Update!

Compare to my very first Jane group buy that I did back then, this is certainly not a very smooth run. Looking back at my Jane from the first group buy, tbh I'm quite happy with the progress in quality. Not perfect still, but it is much much closer to what I would expect from a good custom. I guess it is worth some of the sleepless nights and the "fights" with the manufacturers. I would like to thank you guys for being patient with me.

There are 40 sets of 910 made (not including VKC), 23 units for the GB here and 17 units of special edition for friends. Having unit no. CNC milled to all the parts did make the whole fabrication/color matching/sorting process much more complicated than I thought, this probably my last time doing so. Eight units from the group buy do have some issues. The manufacturer is not going to replace because these flaws seemed pretty common to them, in a way I do agree with them. I will update to the group buy list later, the affected ones are mostly gray/black parts. Reproduction/rework is in progress for these eight units. Being a collector myself, I am not comfortable with sending them out.

And oh yeah, the packaging. Knowing how fragile these aluminum boards can be, I often over pack them. 25mm of PE form for the top and bottom, at least 55mm for the sides. The sleeve is a courtesy from my friend. Considering this is her first time operating the sewing machine, I would say it is not too bad. Here's some photo to those of you who haven't received a board from me before.

Update for the shipping. 10 units had been shipped for the last one week, the balance is going back latest by the end of next week. The invoice will be sent as soon as your board is packed.

For some reason, the weight of the parcel comes close to the Jane/Jane CE. Maybe it's because of the brass.

Once again, thank you!

Out of curiosity, what kinds of flaws/issues are you seeing on the affected boards?
Tiny dents at the sharp edges. My guess is because of these are the standard colors, the workers didn't handle with extra cares.

Just putting my hat in the ring saying I'm up for extras. Hope I can get in on this. That blue and pink combo is delicious.

Looking forward to seeing these start to appear.

Keep us updated on the extras even if they have flaws. I'd be willing to pick up a black or gray version.

What switches are you all planning on using? I can't decide if I want to wait on that MX Silent Black group buy or just throw some 67g Zealios in mine.

Very late to finding out about the 910, jumping in to watch for any extras that may become available, or anyone who may be willing to part with theirs if they feel it doesn't feel right once they build.

Any update/consideration on extras or b-stock Yuktsi? I am not a collector, but rather want the 910 as my everyday workhorse, a blemish/small dent wouldn't bother me terribly. That being said, I understand if you don't want certain boards in the wild.

This is a stunning board. Which material is used for the gray-looking part of the weight? Is that aluminum?

There was another 910 posted on reddit the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/6uppm7/photos_pinkpurple_tgr910/
That one had different bottom, however:

Not sure how many VKC though.

Status of all 910

Shipping
- The last 5 boards will be dropped off at the post office by Wednesday, before the long weekend. Shipping invoices had been all sent.

Delayed units
- Units are being made to replace the damaged parts. I was hoping to fix the dented parts, but the results are rather unsatisfactory.
- The process is rather tedious because all parts come with a unique unit number. Machining for the replacement parts are done, just waiting for me to collect and send of anodization.

910 CE
- Unfortunately, I am afraid that I will need to do a quick run of 910 CE. I managed to get a discount for the machining of the replacement parts. The owner of the anodizing factory agreed to anodize them for free because dented parts were all caused by their mishandling. But the cost is still rather significant.
- I am thinking of making another 23 units of the CE, available only in black or gray (or both) and brass plate. Hope to conclude the CE project within 2 months time. Will put up interest check form later.
- 910 is one of my favorite boards when it comes to typing feel, a little surprising to me considering the number of boards I have in my collection (k, I know self praise is no praise). Will definitely make more of these from time to time.

Great news about the CE, I know a few of us who barely missed out were put on a wait list, will that give us any priority given it will still be limited?
also shame no purple but totally understand to keep colors limited. if it was up to me everything I owned would be purple

I should be able to prioritize those on the wait list. The thing about purple is that the factory that I use don't run that color very often, other than the MOQ, my concern is that if anything goes wrong, they might not want to redo the parts in purple.

Just want to keep this round of GB quick. Although people have been very understanding about the delays, it's still a little too much stress to take for me.

As someone on the waitlist who wanted a black 910, I couldn't be any more thrilled at this prospect. Hope things go more smooth to alleviate some stress. I know the reaction to the boards that have been shown off is overwhelmingly positive and hope that gives some consolation.

The last time I was really unlucky and fell asleep just before the thing went life so I missed the FCFS part, RNGsus also wasn't with me back then.
Maybe I'll have more luck this time?

Woah, I'm pretty low down in the waitlist and I would be thrilled to have a chance at a black/black 910. Gotta keep my eye on this thread.  :thumb:

Why is 19mm the perfect minimum thickness?

Great question, I personally wasn't too confident with going under 20mm tbh.
7.5mm over the plate for covering the switches, 9.5mm from the ledge the plate mounts to to the start of the bottom for enough PCB clearance and 3mm from there to the bottom face so there's more than enough clearance for the screws in case someone wants to use a different standard.
That 1mm difference could easily be shaved off on the lower housing by removing the generous headroom for screws in my case, but I digress.

This is actually a rather interesting topic. I got most of the dimensions by hand measuring the boards I have. 19mm is actually what I captured from the OTD boards. Boards from LZ, Lynn are all measured at around 19mm. Anything more than this range feels rather uncomfortable to me. Even for KMAC, which is measured at around 20mm. I don't remember measuring any board lower than 19mm though.

I have 7mm over the plate, 10mm from the face of the plate to the internal of the bottom case. My clearance from there to the bottom face is around 3mm as well. I suppose I can go another mm lower if I were to remove the brass weight.

Thanks for the insight, very interesting indeed.

If OTD uses 19mm too then, I guess I'll have to change a few things :p

Most of the boards I had were around 20mm high in the front, so I just aimed for that, borrowed measurements here and there and came up with what I have now. The most important part is how high the plate sits, as that determines how high the caps sit. I also went with a lower 7 degree angle as I really liked that on my Black Bird.
The 3mm clearence in the bottom is a bit different for me as I chose a similar point where the top and bottom case meet like Duck chose it, so my 3mm are in the very front of the case and there is no cutout on the top of the bottom part other than for the USB.

Status of all 910
https://goo.gl/NnFV4o

So will someone in the original GB have a chance to buy another plate/PCB in addition, if we want Brass?

I am not sure if I missed the instructions to get it working once you have soldered it up, but I asked CMD who was able to help me. Here is what I did to get it working:
1) Download bootmapper from winkeyless.kr and the firmware
2) Flash firmware
3) Create hex file and flash it to the board

The pink colours are different shades between the keyset and the board, so I opted to use the full pink on black set instead of the black on pink alphas that the set originally came with :)

I figured I should share some files and instructions related to the 910

Keymapping
1. Download Bootmapper from winkeyless.kr (http://blog.winkeyless.kr/155)
2. Download the default keymap file keymap_gb_20170818211212.hex (https://www.dropbox.com/s/zke3ar6fhgndk7k/keymap_gb_20170818211212.hex?dl=0)
3. Open Bootmapper Client > "Keymapper" tab > "Load .hex/.json" > tick "Reboot after uploading" > "Upload"
4. To edit keymap, tick "Toggle Bootmapper" > hit the key on the board that you want to remap > the corresponding col/row on the Key Mapper will be highlighted > change whatever key that you want to change > tick "Reboot after uploading" > "Upload"

Flash/Update firmware
1. All 910 PCB is pre-flashed with the latest firmware.
2. To flash/update firmware, download latest firmware from winkeyless.kr (http://blog.winkeyless.kr/153) > go to "Option" in Bootmapper Client > unplug your 910 > hold "Backspace" and plug in > hit "Firm Up (Select .hex file) > select the file download from winkeyless.kr, ie. ps2avrGB_NKRO.hex > "Open"

Plate file
1. In-case you want to have your own plate made of different material, e.g. polycarbonate, brass, titanium...
2. In-case you need an extra plate.
3. Download here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/b82rdackjmo6yl3/910_swtich_plate_v2.DWG?dl=0)

PCB Layout file
1. In-case you want to make a different housing for your 910.
2. In-case you want to make your own 65% custom.
3. Download here (https://www.dropbox.com/s/lkcrlqv3jdy94wi/tgr_unicorn.DWG?dl=0)

No wonder this board feel really solid. Turn out the 910 was 65% with the weight of TKL. The TKL in above pict is Lynn Dolphin v2 which is rather heavy for a kustom TKL

Good job Yuktsi  :thumb:
The dolphin didn't have of brass weight right?

I still don't think the plate material makes that much difference in feel.  Plate vs. no plate, yes probably. But material, not much.  I know i'm in the minority here, but I believe (again, not the majority opinion here) the vibrations from the switches resonate through the PCB and and then wherever it attaches to the case.  The biggest difference is the case material and sound dampening between the case and the place where it contacts the PCB.

This is my experience with 10 or 11 builds.

That's what happens when you mostly build tray mounted keyboards, because the PCB does not directly contact the case anywhere in a top mounted build like this where plate material plays a much bigger role.
Here the plate is attached to the case and leaves the PCB floating under it, different plate materials offer different amounts of flex in this case and the plate is doing most of the work of holding things in place. In a tray mounted build you always have the PCB directly on mounts on a solid block of whatever material you chose, providing a lot less flex around those mounting points and having the PCB do most of the work.

Any tips for reducing the pinging sound on this board? I'm a heavy-handed typist and the pinging is quite noticeable. I've considered adding a thin foam pad under the PCB, but that would block all the lighting underneath.

Do you have a deskmat? And lubing can be pretty helpful in reducing ping.

Try removing the diffuser and add the PE foam that comes with the board underneath.

Has anyone had any RGB issues with their boards?  I have two PCBs and have only half the RGBs lighting up on one and only 3 on the other.  Neither one is lighting up the "910" front RGB.  Any ideas?  I find it odd that both PCBs are having similar issues.  I reflashed the firmware/keymap and then did a reconnect with the RGB Settings under Bootmapper and nothing helped.  I also tried adjusting the number of LEDs on Bootmapper and nada.  Any help would be appreciated!!

Assuming the 910 has 12 RGB LEDs, if RGB #7 isn’t working properly, RGB #8 to #12 won’t light up either. This is because they’re chained together in series.

In this example, RGB #7 probably has dry solder joints on a couple of its legs. The fix is simple. You’ll simply need to reflow the solder by touching the dry joints with the tip of your iron (do it for all four legs just for the sake of thoroughness). Make sure the iron is sufficiently hot that you don’t need to hold it there for more than a couple of seconds. You may also add extra solder to each of the four legs if it makes you feel better, but don’t overdo it.

This ought to wake the LED up and complete circulation to the rest of the chain.

someone told me there is no 910ce poly, only 910 poly :o ?

My invoice says TGR 910 Polycarbonate. CE, SE, ME whatever edition, etc. doesn’t really matter to me, just excited to get this board

Hmm you might be right! I love the sides of this round of 910, so I'd totally be okay with that  :D

I asked back when I ordered. It's R1 style. Which is the best imo.  :D

Yeah, so I totally only just discovered this thread/keyboard. To little to late I know, but I'm gonna be that guy and ask... "will there be another run?"

Product looks amazing! I literally joined geekhack to investigate the possibility of getting my hands on one. Any hope or should I start looking for another 65% board?

Not what he said to me... so I will continue to hope. If not at least I got the poly one.

This forum was a good find anyhow. Lots of research to do before making any decisions I think. Will keep my eye on TGR for sure.
