Recently, we are in the factory for a long time. Because we have to spend so much time on QC due to more orders than we expected.

There was a big problem with the factory recently.
Production errors have occurred in some of the items currently in production.

The cause is wear on the end mill.

During keyboard production, the end mill mounted on the MCT was worn out and some products were damaged.
Many of them can be reworked and are currently in progress, but about 15 are damaged and cannot be used.

he end mill is a blade that cuts aluminum blocks to make keyboards. It has a fixed life span and needs to be replaced with a new one, like a Cutter knife blade.

Looking at the photo we uploaded earlier, the keyboard is flat and the typing angle is 0 degrees, but the slope is created in 3rd machining.
During this third machining process, the end mill was worn out, resulting in defects and we have to re-produce that quantity.

We found it early and prevented more damage, but there will be a slight delay in delivery. This is because the anodizing schedule has been delayed due to the reproduction schedule.

This is a picture of the product before the last processing.

We will be lucky if these board ship in September. This group buy has been filled with miscommunications and problems all around. This group buy is a mess which is why so many people feel uncomfortable and uneasy about our boards.

Yeah, not sure why it takes so long to get tracking information for those boards that have shipped.
There are only 20 boards to be shipped initially, it really shouldn't be that difficult to come out and say how many of those 20 boards are shipped, and which ones still need to be packaged/shipped...

The order numbers were all posted previously as well:

I received an email last week which stated that the 20 boards are sent to the shipping agency. And due to a problem with the shipping agency these boards are not processed any further yet.
I am beginning to forget that I paid for this board.

I don’t get the point. How difficult is it to contact the shipping agency and get the details, ETA and provide that to us? Assuming there were 20 boards and a problematic shipping agency in the first place.

So where are the 20 boards. Do they really exist or are they sole
Mythical keyboards that we tell stories about to our grand kids.

I don't think this will get to that point but it's just been bumpy and the runner hasn't been communicative. I think this will just end up with many delays is all.

I hope that if it's not possible to deliver on what was promised, that people will get a refund.
It's kind of alarming to hear things like "big problem with the factory" and "production errors have occurred in some of the items currently in production".
I'm really trying to give the benefit of the doubt here, but it sounds like my keyboard (which is supposed to be in the first 20...does that even mean anything anymore?) is either a) lost in the shipping system, or b) has not even shipped.

Not necessarily clear why 2 out of 20 folks actually have received their board while others have not. Both local and international (Spain) customers, so doesn't necessarily indicate a broader shipping agency problem.

ofcourse I joined the one GB that runs into questionable process.

Chamin king, If you are reading this, at the very least please provide carrier and shipping numbers for the first 20 orders. If you have to spend a day to do, I suggest you do and put everything else regarding the board on hold. That will be a huge confidence booster for anyone who bought the keyboard. If not, it speaks volumes about how to not do CS. Just my 2cents.

Unless you're part of the 20 people that were supposed to get their boards early I wouldn't do so.

Despite the rough communication he has shown plenty of pictures showing that the boards are actually in production, and we're not even in September yet (the original estimated shipping date)

You've got 6 months to open a paypal dispute, we're just about halfway there.

I'm not ready to open a dispute yet. There is progress happening but the fact of the matter is he is not running this group buy in manner that bolsters enthusiasm or faith that everything is good, you know? Delays happen. I completely understand that. But there is a veil of ambiguity around this thing that is making all of us uncomfortable.

But they have had a lot of hardship during this process too. He just needs to swoop in and make one good post to get all of us back on track. But instead we get posts of more delays, more problems, and more people asking about the shipping of the first 20 keyboards with no reply from Chanmin. The post from dcdcdc is disconcerting as well.

KKKK.works Korean group Buy has already exploded.
Many users are angry.
To postpone or lie in disguise as an excuse.
Many complaints are pouring out from the Korean community.
However, he has been making excuses for months without solving the problem.

Sounds like they have had the same issues. Delays, problems, with no resolution on Chanmin's part.

Even if I wanted to file a dispute I don't I could because he put the tracking number of the springs he sent me because I was one of the "lucky" ones that was picked to get the springs early.

That was weird stuff too. Should have just sent it with your keyboard. There maybe could be a way you could dispute it if you got to talk to an actual representative and explained the situation to them with evidence of what was on your invoice and chanmin's post about sending springs to the "lucky" people.

Didn't seem like it was too tough to send springs and update tracking info.

Not that hard to do it with boards.

Perhaps paypal required shipping info before funds were released.

I'm curious to how many people received springs? Because I received springs although I never received the lottery e-mail notification. I am suspicious because the springs could be be used as a cover to show delivery confirmation, especially if a large amount of people received.

Otherwise, I suggest everyone sit tight, hopefully Chamin will come through, provide clarity and release the shipping #'s of the first 20 boards. Most banks (at least in US and Canada) allow disputes to be opened 90-120 days after expected delivery date.

As someone a part of the first 20, I will be giving Chamin another 2-3 weeks to deliver my boards or provide SUFFICIENT clarification and/or shipping #.

If a large amount of people received the springs WITH tracking info on PayPal I am gonna go crazy because that is super sketchy the "updates" on production and NOW the failures of the production makes this so much sketchier. I regret spending my money on this.

We sent DGL Spring first for 13 people out of 660 keyboard orders.
While waiting to receive the keyboard, it was a small secret event that gave some randomly chosen people something to enjoy.

Did you know that we sent those springs to EMS or UPS? We paid about $20 to 40 dollars per person to ship a five-dollar spring to one set.
We sent it to 13 people, and we spent about 600 dollars on this alone.

Chanmin claims the 13 spring packages were sent as a "small secret event" for random people, and apparently it was worth spending 600 to do so.

To waste that kind of money on shipping to people when your supposed to be sending a board to the same people in a few more months is a terrible business strategy.

Spending $600 dollars to ship springs to fraudulently attempt to secure at minimum $3,120 (when you take the base kit cost x 13) would make more sense. That's not including any extras or colors that could have also been paid for.

I always felt weird about him shipping out springs. Didn't make any sense at all because we joined this group buy for the keyboard, not the springs. Any he didn't even really announce it or anything if I remember right. Like people got a tracking number and then they just got springs and they were left wondering what was going on.

This is not how your run a group buy.

If you were sent springs and your original order was marked fulfilled, this would point to him having his funds On Hold with PayPal. PayPal requires courier tracking to update to 'delivered' before they release funds.

my question is, if he sent only the spring, why he must upload the shipping number in PP? so he can get the money earlier?

I am glad I didn't get in on this. I almost did, had the form filled out and everything but decided not to. I really hope it works out and everyone gets a nice board. I have a feeling everything will be fine but it will be severely delayed. I personally don't think the GB runner was trying to screw anyone over by sending the springs except for PayPal. He probably just needed to have the funds released for some working capital to actually start production on the boards. Yes, it's shady but not a direct scam as long as you get the product you were expecting in the end.

Hello, this is an update of the production process.

Currently, we are delayed in responding to inquiries due to lawsuits related to the previous office, claims for damages from the relocation of the office, prior work of the Serarcourt, and other circumstances. I'm sorry, but we'll be done soon and we'll complete the delayed reply.

we are currently in the sandblasting process.

Give the people what they want chanmin. tracking info for the boards that shipped or if they haven't been shipped, an explanation as to what's going on. Im glad to see that boards for those of us later in the group buy are progressing along but you've basically left your initial 20 group buy investors out in the cold.

These responses are kinda tone deaf. I'm not one of the first 20 but I'd be pretty pissed off that I'm not getting any updates concerning the preorder boards.

If you have time to update on the production, then you should have time to explain what happened with pre-order boards.

Little did most people know. Chanmin is running two GBs at the same time. ( https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=106344.50 )

If you check his replies, he used the same pictures regarding the sandblasting process in both threads. Nothing wrong with that in particular, but given the circumstances, this may affect feelings for some of the investors. Especially those that were part of the "lucky 20" orders.

No. Please wait a moment. This is before uploading the current contents.
We have collected all of our shipments from the shipping agent and will be sending them all back within the next week. We are currently organizing related content.
There is a sequence of processing. Currently, it is 2am in Korea. The reason I'm still awake is to solve the unprocessed stuff.

So they sent out the keyboards to be shipped then picked them back up to take them back later? Maybe it had something to do with the flooding that happened or he didn't have the money to pay the shipping so he picked it back up? I honestly am beginning to feel the ambiguity in the updates from this guy may be intentional.

Unless I am just not understanding.

Hello. There was a lot of delay. After losing our office, our efficiency fell sharply. We were forcibly expelled from the office, but in the process, we have yet to get back about $8,300 in rent and about $27,000 in compensation for damage due to lawsuits. This led us to apply for an additional loan from the bank.

I got an additional loan from the bank for this problem. We finally managed to get an office elsewhere.

The delivery agency did not give us the reason and did not proceed with the delivery we requested. We have made several claims.

But they didn't take care of our work until we finally visited and got all the crates back.

Until then, we were not able to retrieve the keyboard from the shipping agent. Because the warehouse was full of office luggage and the schedule was still very busy.

After we visited yesterday and canceled the contract, all the goods were retrieved.

Now we can work as before and we want to start with urgent shipments right away.
We promise. we will finish sending the first 20 keyboards within next week, which is the most urgent task at the moment.
We will take responsibility for this remark.

Here is our plan.

First, let me tell you about the current schedule.
1. The first 20 keyboards will all be shipped within the next week.

2. For other keyboards, CNC work is done and sandblast postprocessing is currently in progress. Anodizing and cerakote work will begin depending on the option selected.

3. Anodizing proceeds as soon as sandblasting is completed. It handles the same keyboards at the same time, so it can be done relatively quickly compared to Cerakote.

4. Cerakoat is processed sequentially while anodizing is in progress. Cerakoat cannot be worked at the same time, and all work is done by hand, so the entire work period is later than anodizing.

5. We have found that in many Ceracoat applications, the color can be noticeably different in some cases due to the working environment and subtle differences in paint composition.

6. For keyboards that apply for the top case and bottom case in the same color, we will work on this at once. It may be less efficient than finishing all one part, but it will increase the quality.

We promise. I will finish sending the first 20 keyboards within next week, which is the most urgent task at the moment.

We rented a small temporary office a few days ago, and we visited the shipping agency company yesterday to retrieve all the keyboards. It is currently loaded inside the temporary office. September 4th is scheduled to visit the factory for an interim check on Sandblast work and will begin shipping next Monday.

During the production period, there was a test to resume the suspended cerakote work, and the result was a success.
