Title: Logitech g9x
Post by: isaske on Fri, 27 February 2015, 07:18:56
Hi GH!
Once again, I want to ask a question that i myself cant find an answer to.
Does anyone know whether its possible to get a new logitech g9x? Im so sad they discountinued it, because its one of the best mice ever made.
Its the best mouse i ever owned and i want to buy another one or even two, if i find packed ones.
Help, if someone knows a place that sells them at a normal price that would be great. It can even be taobao or something similar.

Finding one for a normal price will be hard if not impossible. Occasionally used ones will pop up on ebay for fairly cheap.

Kinda disgusting that people are trying to sell mice that they've used daily for two years for more than 100$.  I have one NIB incase my first decides to die.

If you still have your old one I'd recommend trying to restore it first, new switches, skates and maybe even a new cable.

I think the CM Storm Spawn is a decent alternative to the G9x if you want to save some money.

I think the CM Storm Spawn is a decent alternative to the G9x if you want to save some money.

The Spawn is extra poor in quality hence ignore it, just stick with the G9x because you need to "pitch a tent" on Ebay and always do some scanning for NEW G9x's for sale.

Had to buy about 5 extra G9's for the Mrs because she loves it to death, hence I have to make sure she never runs out of them  8) .

I know you want the same mouse, however in the event you can't find one both the G700s and the RAT 9 are excellent.

I was also obsessed with peripheral continuity not so long ago, but trying new peripherals is much more rewarding

Try a G602, wireless + nice performance + incredible battery life

Unless you have 2.4ghz interference, the mouses should be wireless, imo, since they move and stuff, wires get in the way

The G602 is LARGE compared to the G9x, which is low and wide (if you want to make actual comparisons).

When you empty the G9x from all it's weights it's quite light compared to the G602 which is still heavy, despite it being wireless.  The M705 is a better wireless device due to it's light weight (better mileage in battery usage compared to the G602, but still uses 2.4ghz frequency).

Overall the G9x reigns supreme for some people because Logitech has not made a shape greater than this model  :thumb: .

That's a nice point

I recently tried to go back to an Anywhere MX, as I also like low mouse's, yet I found out that I was hooked to the dynamics of the G602 (the default acceleration dynamics, it's very homogenous) and I was no longer bothered by the increased height as much

I find it quiet light tho, you can also use it with one AA's instead of two

The G9X was a very popular mouse that was discontinued. Because of that, the prices for them now (on sites like ebay) are crazy. So that is not really an option. But there are some second-hand sites where you can still buy them used at normal prices. Here in Holland, a quick check showed me there are a few available for normal prices if you would not mind buying second-hand.

That said, in the end you will have to switch anyway. Might as well do it now. Though I guess the shape of the G9X was rather unique.

There are people like us that are obsessed with the products they use, so there is a black market for discontinued products

Same happened when they discontinued the VX Nano for the Anywhere MX, New ones were instantly ~$200, now they are extinct

Spare parts seem affordable tho, I might restore all my mouses some time, Nano VX and the G9X share the same scroll, interestingly

---

One sad aspect of buying spare mouses is, they might have defects that you only notice when you start really using them

I used to keep a spare Anywhere MX, my last spare had unique wireless issues for example, left the keypress randomly at times

So you might want to thoroughly check the mice you get, to not discover these kind of issues in the future (I know G9X isn't wireless, yet there are countless issues with these Logitech mouse's, they certainly don't deserve our devotion, but the competition is obviously worse)

Why are you telling somebody to get a Deathadder when it's nothing similar shapewise to the G9x.

Well, if they've been discontinued and he's struggling to find them. I may as well mention another great mouse so he can move on to it.

But yah, my post wasn't very relevant at all.

If you want to spend upwards of $300 for one, Amazon and Ebay sellers are selling them. I have a Logitech G9x MW3 Edition and I can confirm that it's an amazing mouse.

Alienware TactX is a rebrand of the Logitech G9x

Try that maybe?

Don't be fooled by the ebay description hype, only the front of it is G9x-cloned.  The back end is considerably different from the comfort grip and massively different from the precision grip.

Just curious, do any other g9x owners hear an annoying really high pitched squeal coming from the mouse when it's not being used? I've had mine for about 5 years I'd say and it's always had that noise. Usually I don't notice it but occasionally I pick up on it and it drives me crazy. I've actually ordered a different mouse to replace it for this reason.

I can only hear it if I put the sensor up to my ear.

Same here, I can't hear it at all unless its pressing against my ear.

super hard to find. unfortunate since it was a great mouse and there's nothing close to it on the market now. my two favorite mice of the last few years have been the cm storm spawn and the g9x. both discontinued now with no direct replacements :(

I guess either mine is particularly bad or I have more sensitive hearing.

Sound levels might be different depending on the motherboard/usb ports.

You're not alone on this one.
This is something quite a few people have mentioned in the past.

Something weird just occurred, had some spare time to kill so I peruse my favourite PC hardware site, PCCG here (http://pccasegear.com/) looking to buy something new and I usually head into the Mice - ALL MODELS section, for a quick scroll down it.

Out of the blue I saw with my ancient eyes a Brand New Logitech G9x selling for $79.00AUD, I kid you not.  Anyway I jumped on it faster than a Fat Kid on Cake and paid for it straight away via Paypal.  We'll see what they'll send me, I figured they found a spare box hiding in one of their warehouse sections and they put it sneaky like, in with all the other mice.

This is why I always have to check PCCG for any extra specials they might list, looking forward to seeing whether they will supply me with the FINAL G9x here in Australia or not.

Got shipping notice yesterday hence  they are sending something out to me.   Will let you know if it's an authentic G9x or some other L.A.I.D. (Logitech Abortion Input Device).

The only place that I can think of that you could find one at a decent price would be Craig's list.
