I have a dolch pac case + leeku pcb that I still need to build. I finally got to see and touch a G80 1800 at the Portland Meetup a few months ago. I see that the G80 1800 is still actually available new. Is there some reason why the older ones are preferred over these new ones? Is it the keycap quality?
Stock G80-1800 is just about one of the worst typing experience you can get, lots of flex, PCB sometimes shift around a little bit as you type, scratchy MX Blacks (at least the ones made in the noughties and 2010s, earlier ones have a chance of having vintage blacks.
Also, new 1800 keyboards come with 1u bottom rows and offset stem 6u caps, which for me is a slightly less desirable layout for a 1800 (don't mind it too much personally, but it does take a period of adjustment when I switch between keyboards with and without this bottom row arrangement)
