Hello everyone, I'm Daniel Mitchell, introducing a new Awekeys Metal Keycap Set
that I just wanted to make: The Copper Eagle.

Inspired by the awe-inspring copper eagle statue—a symbol renowned for its embodiment of
strength, freedom, and vision. I really admire the glossy surface of copper and would love to
create a set of keycaps with a copper texture for the Copper Eagle.

IC Form

Awekeys is a brand specializing in the production of metal keycaps, and they have several collaborations
with Drop, KeebsForAll, ClickClack and many trusted regional vendors and received optimisitc feedback.

Taking the initiative, I contacted Awekeys to inquire if they'd be interested in helping me create metal keycaps
for the Copper Eagle. Their response was positive, expressing a genuine appreciation for the Copper Eagle concept.
Thus, our collaboration was born, fueled by their expertise and shared enthusiasm for bringing the Copper Eagle
to life through our joint efforts.

Today, I received the samples of the keycaps I designed from Awekeys and I am absolutely thrilled! This is a significant milestone for me as a keycap designer, and I couldn't be more excited. Very satisfied with the gloss of the metal keycaps I received this time.

Awekeys offers Blanks (without Legends) for all colorways as well as the so-called special edition like gold, silver, satin gold, and titantium.

To protect against discoloration, awekeys tell me that they choose special coating.
Also regular cleaning will help prevent discoloration.

A bit more compatibility would certainly help other layouts: e.g. split Backspace (add R1 1u | \ key, R2 1.5u Backspace), 65/75% support (R2 Pg Up, R3 Pg Dn, R4 End). And the Win keys could be switched to "Code" or "Super" to be more OS-agnostic.

Going through the awekeys discord it’s pretty clear that people are having all kinds of fitment and quality issues with the current batch of sets. Will the copper ones have the same problems or are you doing anything to ensure better fitment.

The awekeys team refuse to take ownership of the problem. It’s bizarre that a $200+ set of keys requires you to delicately adjust each one with pliers and hope you get it right without snapping the end off.

I want to buy the copper set but after seeing the problems people are having with the other awekeys sets I’m really concerned.
