You need to find some people to play board games with.
Whoa!
Took a while but I found it: Cosmic Encounter
Turns out that it did live on through the generations:

Absolutely love Cosmic Encounter, never gets boring, never.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS
Though haven't played it in a while... coz (a) few people around still do that stuff and (b) most people to play with don't shower and are nerd *ssholes know-it-alls endlessly debating that THEY ARE RIGHT even though the DM guide states otherwise.
But the idea of D&D and role playing... really nice.

I have friends, just not those who are into the same games. :(
Or, if they are, they don't live close anymore. :(
Now I have to go out and find strangers on BGG.

Though there are some that might disagree, D&D isn't really a board game. I'd make a new thread for RPGs to differentiate, personally. :)

Where I live there is a very popular bar that has a ton of board games. Usually you can get in on a game if folks are friendly.

That's very cool. I've never seen that around here, except for a chess bar. Where people actually don't even drink booze. Mostly tea, coffee, juices, and good o' chess.

Yeah the place is pretty nice. It's decorated with sort of a D&D atmosphere.

You make me wanna go there O_o
I hope it doesn't also have the unshowered bearded t-shirted nerdnerd D&D "smell" to it?
Only when it is really hot in the summer. No AC. :))
Although they did open another location that seemed more modern.

I wish such a place was here. I only have GH and python mailing lists :P
Nobody at my work understands "what's the deal with those boards" (and games).
Only a few colleagues went nuts over fallout 4. But no board games.

It's the same in my office but they are all have kids and don't seem interested in anything other than the local sports team. Nothing wrong with that, it just makes it hard to strike up a good conversation.
D&D 5th edition is pretty good, if that's considered a board game.

I would say so. I've never played any D&D myself but I've always wanted to try it.
Has anyone played "Evolution"? My girlfriend bought it this weekend after Demoing it at PAX, curious to see how people feel about it before I play it.
My favorite game that I played this weekend though is definitely "Secret Hitler". Werewolf-type game, with a voting mechanic that adds a lot of depth. Very fun and cool.
Also anyone play flux? Picked up an extra set of promo cards at PAX, PM me if you want em.
Mysterium is one of my current favorites.
Played it 3 times in the last few months.
Before that I really liked Colt Express.
I used to enjoy 7 wonders but played too often (twice a month).
I enjoy Ticket to ride, Citadel, Pandemic, Smallworld, Carcassone and many other games.
I don't enjoy Battlestar galactica as much as I'd like too.
Every now and then Descent 2 or Last night on earth.
I love to play Streetcar.
I miss Junta, played a twice and can't find it around anymore.
I'd like to play Murder at house on the hill more often, played maybe 5 times in past 15 years.
I use to love Dominion and Dungeons Lords, but that faded.
How many plays a month do you consider "too often" for a game? I have close to forty games and subsequently have a decent enough amount of games to choose from. However, there's no game that I play twice a month that I consider to have been played "too often." Maybe if I played them every or every other day.

Depends on the game I guess.
Some games can feel very similar from one game to the other...
It also depends on how many game sessions you play in a month.
In any case playing a game in one sessionand in the next would feel a bit too much.
Otherwise the max would be 2 times per month on a weekly session basis, if I enjoy the game.
Do you have a large collection? It would seem by necessity that you would have to have a large and diverse collection to be able to keep games fresh at that rate.
I have about 40 games, 10 of wich are still unopen for lack of time (and courage) for reading rules before game sessions.
Most of my boardgaming friends have at least 10 games each (mostly different).
A few of my friends have more games than I do (each year they buy a few at the Cannes international gaming festival).
I even have a few friends who started their publishing company (Ludically (https://www.trictrac.net/repertoire/industry/ludically)), or publish games thru other companies like (LB (https://www.trictrac.net/repertoire/personnalite/lionel-borg)).
I don't see them much anymore as we stopped going to a gaming club where we met, but it was super cool to play with their prototypes.
Note that bg is not my main hobby, I'm into table top rpg (have about 150 books and my gaming friends between 50-100)...
I forgot to mention a game I like a lot "Tales of the Arabian nights (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/34119/tales-arabian-nights)".
Table top games are fantastic. It's hard to find a group to play with though, in my experience. It's easy to get people to play a board game. Much more difficult to make the leap to table tops.
I've heard amazing things about Arabian Nights. The story telling element looks like such a blast.
Has anyone played Dune Imperium? I’ve been meaning to try it out, but haven’t had the chance just yet.I haven't played it but it looks similar to Terraforming Mars aswell as 7 wonders which I have played and both are very fun although need a few play throughs to really get the hang of it. If you do get it please give us a review! :)
I’m really hoping it lives up to its source material

You can actually play it solo, although that is not maybe not too exciting ;) I also looked up the youtube tutorials first, looks really complicated but really isnt if they have played settlers of catan or similar beforeHas anyone played Dune Imperium? I bought Terraforming Mars last year for Christmas for my family - I played them youtube tutorial - that was it. They dont want to play it with me. Game is lying on tv table since December! :(
It is so beautifully made game and sounds interesting, but I dont have anyone I could play it with.
