Agreed, But the rumor is extremely close to the real release, so it's quite likely a publicity stunt, vs an actual leak.

Journalistic Leak has really been reduced to a form of advertisement these days.

It's not JeeTeeEEhks, it's ArrTeeEks....and though I'm due for a GPU upgrade, my RX VEGA64's and GTX1080 are kinda showing their age, I'm gonna hold out till Big Navi hits the scene, will compare benchmarks (RTX3090/RTX3080 Ti vs Big Navi) and see which would offer a better price/performance ratio.

I don't think that's an issue, unless a sound card is a must for you....even then, might fit an eATX mobo. But, in my neck of the woods, the RTX3090 would be more pricey than 1400USD, due to distributers imposing a high premium over cost price. That's why I hope AMD's big Navi can at least pose a big enough threat for nGreedia to get real with its pricing policy....yes, I have a right to dream, don't I?

Edit - Since hardly anyone is using SLi these days, and support for SLi/CF is pretty much dead, a single powerful card is the way to go. That the RTX3090 takes up three slots and blocks off some PCIe slots is moot....

Some claim it's because normal wires can't flow enough power, even if you change the guage there's no reason 12 handles more than dual 8 pin if it's the same connector.

My guess is that it matches the new mobo power connector cables, which would be be nice if all of them were the same.
Would be nice if they could standardize it on the other end as well so cables were universal.

For comparison, almost no other card draws much over 200 with most around 150-190.
Makes me think they may have glued two 3080's together, it would explain the price.

Not sure if the power rumor is true. But if it is.. I would think Big-Navi should put up some Big numbers, otherwise there'd be no reason to stretch so hard

The power draw rumor is most likely true, if rumors about TSMC/Samsung are true. I'm no engineer, but from what I've heard, the 3xxx series will be built on Samsung's 8nm node instead of TSMC's 7nm node. Samsung simply isn't as efficient at making the massive dies that TSMC has been building for years, so it doesn't surprise me at all that the power draw is much higher. Honestly the high power draw and the massive cooler really remind me of the Fermi days.

Keep in mind, the 3090 is NOT a 2080 replacement
It's probably not even a 2080 TI replacement, it's more likely a Titan replacement. Everything about it from price to size to power draw makes more sense if that's the case.

3080 will mostly likely be 200watts give or take about 10%.

We know from the Gainward leaks a couple days ago that their 3080 will be 320W (with 350w for their 3090). So gives some ballpark for other board partners. Though how much in typical use it'll draw idk (same could be said for EVGA's 2080Ti and Supers which are mostly 250W).

cause here i see already RX580-8G for sale at 250 euros and it has been 2 or 3 years that the used card price stays the same or goes up for new generations... 3 years ago i bought an R9 280 tri-X at 50 euros, now i can't find them under 80... kinda why i hate nvidia/apple/samsung...

RX 580 4gb is around $120-130. They were about $80 this time last year.
8gb is only about $20 more.

Anyone expecting $250 is smoking crack, you can buy 8gb for sub $160 all day long.
Ebay UK is also similarly priced.

As for why it went up, Mining caused a shortage of cards, I'm not sure what happened mid last year to cause a second shortage, maybe it never recovered fully? Then Covid hit and depleted what was left of the market. I suspect people mining other crypto are still mining on gpus.

Well the +40% is just a leaked benchmark video / rumor status

But the 1080ti to 2080ti is fact, so that's what we're calculating from.

Obviously this doesn't scale with every game engine, but then there's 400% <rumored> Ray tracing performance increase, so in a ray traced game, you'd see 400% increase in frame rates, if the ray count was left the same.
