I've read online that Canadians like putting maple syrup in snow and eating it.
Last night, I scooped up a cup of undisturbed snow and poured some warm maple syrup on it, and it was delicious.
Have you guys tried this? Do Canadians actually do this?
INB4 snow is dirty because it has passed through the atmosphere.

I mean, kind of? But not really? Shaved ice is basically ice that's put through some form of blender, snow forms as a particulate so the texture could be different. I'd be more concerned for the safety of eating it, and how sanitary it is. Food is the most common vector for many different illnesses, and eating something that falls onto the ground isn't exactly safe. Take it from someone who has taken multiple courses on food safety and sanitation, you'd be much better off making shaved ice or finding a way to make snow in your own freezer, as eating what is essentially flavored frozen water is much safer when it hasn't fallen on the same areas dogs poop.
As for the second question, I doubt that I've ever had actual authentic maple syrup from either place, as I live in KY and we're not exactly known for getting the nicer version of anything, even something as small as maple syrup, so you'll have to draw your own conclusions there.

if you ever get the chance you should try japanese shaved ice "kakigori". it's great, and it's pretty close to snow imo

I'll be sure to look into that. Probably gonna find a method to make it at home though, as I said I'm in KY and it's not exactly easy to find authentic recreations of food created by non-European cultures.

Y'all might be 2 old, buh TP still remembers those Ghetto and super dangerous shaved ice machines which is just a drill press attached to a metal puck with spikes.

The snow is fresh powder that's like 5 inches tall. I'm obviously not scooping all the way to the ground or where people/dogs have walked or pooped. In fact, the second time, I didn't even get it from the ground. Any contaminates from the air are doubtful enough to cause illness in such a small dose; plus, I breathe air all day.
Buuuuut, back to the food aspect, depending on the wetness/stickiness, snow has a very different texture from shaved ice, much finer and not crunchy at all. This was powder, not sticky enough to make snowballs even.

You really shouldn't eat snow in North America.
USA is the only nation to detonate n00qs on its own soil. Kinda dumb idea.
The consequence which continues today is that we have Alot of b0mb dust radioactive particles which the wind carried all across 'Murica.
Some of it is sequestered in the soil and into trees, but as forest fires and weathering occurs, the particles are re-volatilized and swirled back into the air.
Wash everything thoroughly before eating. Do not drink rain water, do not eat snow.

I have some vague memories of going to a winter festival type thing a few times when I was a little kid. They had these long troughs with snow in them. Then they'd pour a line of maple syrup down the middle. We'd each be given a popsicle stick to stick in and spin around a few times. You'd end up with a maple syrup / snow blob to suck on.

tp, sometimes I wonder if you ever go outside without a hazmat suit with all of the things you don't want out in the world. And your entire home must be the equivalent of a clean room at a reactor
Because honestly? If what you said about the nuclear detonations is true (fyi I'm not saying it necessarily isn't true, just that it doesn't seem super plausible to me personally), the radiation that would be spread around from it at this point in time, especially in areas that are likely far away from the actual detonation and test sites, would barely be more than what you get from being in the sun + experiencing cosmic background radiation.

The way they calculate -safe- radioactivity is based on OUTWARD exposure of a 160lb MAN.
For young children, especially young women, the exposure is roughly 4x-20x the hazard. Multiplying the probability of induced cancer risk by 4x.
Now that's 1 flaw, the second flaw is, they're only assuming the particle emits from the outside, you're protected by skin and by clothing.
But as you know, These are very fine particles, and it makes no sense to assume it can't be kicked up and breathed in.
From the INSIDE, you are not protected by skin. Even a small miniscule sized particle will cause localized cancer cells to form. These are known as Hot-Particles.
