I think since you've already added the 1.75u Shift to the base you should also add the R4 Fn key to make it compatible with 65% boards, otherwise theres almost no point having the short shift at all as you'd still be missing a key, adding one key to base will get alot more buyers than removing the short dhift and putting in the non standard imo.
I like this a lot and definitely will love to see the novelties. SA is not my favorite profile and that introduces a bit of decision for me. :thumb:
This looks great! Love the addition of a NorDe kit. Hoping that ISO Enter and 1.25u shift gets added to the NorDe kit, so NorDe users don't have to buy the UK kit also for 2 modifier Keys:)Thanks! I will consider it

Alas, if this goes through, maybe the colorway can be taken to other profiles as well?
Loving the updates, I am buying everything in this set. Have you had any cool retro deskmat ideas. The colours are pure 1970 retro baby.
still lots of work to do.

I want to spend a few months improving what I have and adding more stuff, so 2021 seems likely. Nothing certain tho.
I'd like to suggest the following kitting changes. (When I say Mods, I'm referring to the current TKL/Specialty kit.)It’s too early for a retrospective on Skyriter although I’d perhaps do some things differently if running it again, but there is a downside to splitting kits. MOQ. If you split a kit apart you have to consider what it’s MOQ can be. One benefit to putting obscure keycaps together with more common ones is you can ensure a higher MOQ and therefore lower prices. It’s a very fine balance for sure and I like what you’re saying here Konstantin but I just wanted to add this perspective.
- Add R1 1u \| (alpha-colored) to Alphas.
- This is useful not just for ≥60%, but also some 40% boards. This key is currently missing altogether.
- Remove R1 1u \| (mod-colored) from Mods.
- Mod-colored 1u pipe is not commonly used. See here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=107963.msg2951102#msg2951102) for details.
- Replace R3 1.25u Menu with Fn in Mods.
- Fn is the more common legend, used on a wide variety of boards and sizes. It's also more generic than Menu and can be used in its place, whereas the opposite isn't really the case.
- Add R1 1u F13 (mod-colored) to Mods.
- For some popular and up-and-coming TKLs (e.g. Jane v2 CE, IRON180).
- Change Ctrl legend to Control on R3 1.75u and 1.5u.
- The longer legend fits these key sizes better, and SP has the molds.
- Move 7u space from Alphas to Mods.
- 7u is only used on ≥60% boards for the most part (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=106725.msg2948549#post_alphas_kits). This ties in to the next suggestion.
- Split the Mods kit up in order to better accommodate 40s users.
- This is something that SA Skyriter forgot to do. Currently, Ortho/40s functions as a standalone mods kit only for orthos — 40s users still need to buy the Mods kit. However, that kit is pretty large and is going to be expensive, and 40s users will be paying for a lot of unnecessary keys. Since there are no pricing drawbacks to splitting kits with SP SA, I suggest splitting the Mods kit into TKL and Specialties, like so:
TKL — Keep standard TKL compat in this kit, but also include Tsangan (7u space, 2× 1.5u Ctrl, 2× 1u Super, 2× 1.5u Alt) and HHKB (1.5u Backspace, 1.75u Shift, 1u Fn) compat. This will cover the most popular TKL and 60% options, as well as give 40s users all the extra keys they need (the crucial R4 1.75u Shift, R3 1.25u mods for bottom and ASDF rows, R3 1.5u mods, R2 1.5u Backspace, even 7u space).
Specialties — Move everything else into Specialties.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/gHQMVbS.png)- Additionally, R4 1.75u Lock can be removed from Ortho/40s.
- The Minivan Lock key needs to be R3, but this is already covered by Caps Lock from TKL mods.
- Add R3 1.5u and 1.75u Function (or Func or Fn, not sure which molds SP has) to Specialties.
- This benefits both ≥60% (e.g. WKL TKL, Fn instead of Caps) and 40s (e.g. Pearl, Minivan) users.
- Move one R4 1u Shift from Ortho/40s to Specialties.
- This benefits both ortho (e.g. Planck w/o arrows) and 60% w/ arrows (e.g. GK64) users.
- Since Shift-row 1u Fn is not commonly used on 40% boards, replace this key and the removed 1u Shift with a generic 1u Meta key.
- Also add generic R3 1u and 1.25u Meta keys.
- This benefits ≥60% (e.g. as Menu on TKL), 40s (e.g. instead of Tab on R3, or as extra bottom row keys) and ortho (e.g. as Fn2 or second OS key on Planck).
- You can use Code or Menu instead of Meta for these generic ueys. Your choice. Meta and Code work best, imo (cause, ya know, coffee and coders).
Refer to the above image for any further suggestions. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm also available in the Keycap Designers Discord if you'd like to discuss.

I agree completely. I think what you offered as suggestions are excellent ideas. I’m not actually sure my MOQ argument kicks in unless you’re talking about very low numbers anyways, and as you said, the specialty kit is valuable for both sub and above 60% users so there’s no reason it shouldn’t do well as a kit. It’s too early for a retrospective on Skyriter although I’d perhaps do some things differently if running it again, but there is a downside to splitting kits. Hi Cijanzen, thank you for your input, much appreciated as always. The highlighted bit is exactly why these kits are split in such a way that Specialties is useful to everyone, not just ≥60% users. I have no doubt that if this set is as successful as, say, SA Skyriter, it will do well with this kind of kitting and have no trouble meeting MOQ on all kits, while at the same time giving users more flexibility.
Of course, nothing is 100% for certain, and it's up to the runner to decide what would work best for the set based on the feedback and amount of interest he's received so far.
Other kitting decisions were made bearing this in mind as well: for example, I chose to give Ortho/40s their own spacekeys and not force them to buy Spacebars, since space kits usually sell well anyway and don't need the extra boost from 40% users. However, as with everything else, this also is up for discussion; I think the way the current kits do it (and how Skyriter does it) is fine as well.
Out of the keys that I added to Specialties, probably not all of them are necessary. A few could be cut if needed in order to secure an attractive price point for Alphas+TKL+Specialties, which I assume is what a lot of (if not most) people would be buying.
By the way, I got caught up with the kitting and forgot to say that I love the colors of this set, I'll definitely be looking to pick one up to go with my Bauer ;)

- Since Shift-row 1u Fn is not commonly used on 40% boards, replace this key and the removed 1u Shift with a generic 1u Meta key.

- Less important, but I thought I'd include it anyway: Add R3 1.5u Shift to Specialties.
- This benefits only a few boards at the moment: Evolv (75%); UT47.2, Whimsy, QAZ (staggered 40%); but more boards may use it in the future.
- By making these changes to the kits, your set will essentially be able to cover any ortho or staggered 40% keyboard out there, alongside 60%, 65%, 75% etc.

Edit: updated image, added and fixed up a few suggestions
Also: these novelties are on point, especially that ole cappuccino pattern. These are a must-buy for me, can't wait for 2021.Thanks a lot, very glad you like them.
Looking good, well done so far. Any thoughts on a novelty for the ISO enter?
I see you in a lot of IC threads I follow and I just want to say I learn a lot from these long comments of yours.I'm happy to hear that :)
Seriously, that deskmat. Every time there has been an update, my order has increased, now with those Novelties and that deskmat. I might order a new desk just to show this one off. This is superb in every detail.
Updated kits are looking good. I also concur with the previous posters that the new novelties look great! I'm really enjoying where this set is heading.
Would you be willing to add in 2 more lighter-shade colors of waves on the desk mat?
On the novelties, on idea that popped to mind for iconography was the idea of having legends to represent coffee growing regions. E.g. a silhouette of Africa, or Brazil.
Any chance to have a colevrak or colevark+ kit?
A couple of comments. The ergo kit needs another 1.5u bottom row for Sol, Boardwalk, Boardrun, etc... These are becoming very popular now while ergodox is waning.
Have you considered a mods kit that uses the gradient colors? I think that would look amazing.
This keyset is what got me stalking the forums, I really really hope it gets made and I'm worried that since there hasn't been any updates that it might get lost to the void. Any news?If the op does eventually abandon it for some reason, there's no reason you, or someone else, couldn't take over or run a set that looks exactly the same. It's a lot of work, but if you really wanted it..

You'd have to wait awhile though, I've seen gb threads were seemingly abandoned for months, come back to life.
I don't think the gradient works, like at all. the color of the top row with the mods as they are would be a great set! You’re wrong. It’s Espresso, not Caramel Latte. The gradient is perfect

When you pour milk or cream into espresso, the color shifts. You want an all caramel set. That’s boring, but maybe you like simple, plain jane things. Personal insults? Lol. You must be pretty soft if you think that’s an insult. I was just saying your opinion. Gradient is too much for you, you want a simple set with all one color alphas. I recommend KAT PBJ if you haven’t seen it, it looks really good. Maybe you’ll like it. Hopefully this doesn’t “personally insult you”. Gotta love resulting to personal insults because we don't agree on whether colors look nice or not lmao
not sure where I said I don't like gradients? I don't mind them, but they are very very hard to make look good and imo it doesn't work here. That's just my opinion though. no need to be a jerk because someone disagrees with you. have a nice dayBro, no one is being a jerk. You’re being weird and sensitive in a IC thread. I was just pointing out how I think your opinion is wrong. If you can say it doesn’t work, I can disagree with you. That way the set is less likely to change because of your comment because I need 2 of these sets for my girlfriend and I. She especially wants this just the way it is. Now you can have a good day, sir lmao
You must be new to the internet. You have to preface EVERYTHING you say, especially anything even slightly negative, with "just in my humble opinion" (as if you aren't the one saying it..) and "I don't mean to offend anyone", etc, etc. If you don't, you will get some weirdo stalking your post, and telling you how their mentally disabled daughter thinks you're evil, becasue you called one of their favorite keycaps "lame"....not sure where I said I don't like gradients? Hello, anyone know what material this is? I could be daft an just misunderstand some rule like "SA is always abs" but I can't seem to find any indicator on the thread about this. You probably all ready know, but SA is just the form of the key-caps, a form multiple companies use. Some companies use only pbt, some only ABS, some both. I don't know if it's a "rule" per say, but the company that's going to make these SA profile caps (SP I assume, they make most the SA sets I've seen posted in here) has always used ABS as far as I know.
If anyone could enlighten me that would be much appreciated.
I’m not censoring myself. If someone expresses pretty harshly that they think the set doesn’t work, I’m definitely going to say that they’re wrong. Also, if you wanted a super accurate representation of Espresso, you’d pretty much have an all near black keycap set . Don’t be soft, no one is being aggressive. Only someone who can dish it out but can’t take it would say something like thatHe did not insult, or attack you in any way. You are not your opinion, and your opinion is not you.
In my opinion it gets unnecessarily personal when someone makes an assertion about your preferences such as "you must like simple things", and it can be a fine line between personal and insulting, each to their own, different interpretations would inevitably lead to something worse than intended.
Plus when you reveal your fear of not getting what you want because someone's made a single negative comment, it quite obvious who's being aggressively defensive here.
Also, "I disagree" is better than "no you are wrong".
Anyway, I agree that the gradient doesn't reflect espresso exactly, I still quite like it, reminds me of some fancy Nespressso coffee thing that's definitely not espresso!
Hey everyone! Sorry for the silence these past few months. I had to put the project on hold due to work and studies, but I would still really love to get this done. I'm also glad to see that people are still interested here.
Back in september I hit a bit of an obstacle with color matching, as of all the stock colors I ordered only one matched the set.
Getting the colors sorted out would get the set pretty much ready for GB, but I'm still very busy with life so this might take a good while.
I'll post again whenever I have news. Thanks for the support!

GIMMI GIMMI UPDATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He just asked a question. He didn't say or imply that he is a "fake" person or a "company. He did not take any "slack". He is not "pressing". He's not rushing him, or being rude ... maybe just a little annoying... I think you might want to consider your own advice, and have some patience for those that lack.... patience. LOL ;)GIMMI GIMMI UPDATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, this hobby requires patience. Plus, he's a real person, not a company or anything like that, he has other things going on in his life besides this. Cut him some slack, especially now. Pressing for updates every few days can be annoying; I get the excitement but let it happen.
Wonder if this set can be produced in other profile in the future, I just can't type with SA profile...

I definitely plan to if everything goes well and there's interest
I would like to know who will be manufacturer for this set? Maxkey, Domikey or Signature plastic?
My bad I guess, you do you. Body dismorphia come in all forms..There is no place for this kind of backhanded talk here, or frankly anywhere else. Keep the discussion to the keycaps.
my caffeine addiction says to pick this one up :D glwgb!
This is good and should be purchased by many. GLWGB <3
I'm in for at least two sets to cover a Polycarb TKL and a 40. I've been so excited for this! Thanks for finally getting around to making the buy happen :thumb:
There is no ISO Enter in the NorDe kit?
Support for a German Layout costs almost 200 USD this way?! I'd have to purchase ISO and NorDe Kit!!

Was also hoping to have ISO Enter and 1.25u Shift added to the NorDe kit. Brought up on the IC first page and it was taken into consideration without any changes. So I doubt it will change, but it's indeed $37 for 2 Keys.
Hey all! Here is the new update.
As mentioned in the post, the GB will be from April 13th to May 14th and you can find pricing, collabs with THOK and RocketCables and the colors for the set, as well as a couple new renders.
It's really awesome to finally move forward with the set. I hope you're as excited as I am.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/biJVKcW.jpg)

I'll look into this. I see now that you did bring it up previously, but with all the kitting changes it must've slipped my mind.
Hello Mr. Espresso man, I am interested in buying but I have a few questions:
- That artisan cap is gorgeous! I don't see any pricing for it though, so I hope it's still in the works and it's just priced separately.
- Will you consider adding a centered 6u centered stem spacebar in the spacebar kit? I'm kind of used now with a symmetrical bottom row with 6u centered with most of my boards now. This is accommodated by the two 3u's in the kit, but I'd appreciate the 6u centered option.
- I've never purchased sets manufactured by SP before, is a 12 month fulfillment normal for them?
- How flat are SA spacebars? For the board I'm putting this in, I need three 2u horizontal caps, but because the set only uses one mod color, I see only two. So I might just make use of the 2u spacebar in the spacebar kit.
That's all, I'm really looking forward to May :thumb:
The Artisan cap is just perfect for this set, very well done. Do you think you could add prototypist as the UK vendor for this set?
I love SA kits so much- Best form.
-The modifiers and alphas are always separate.
-And i don't have give a shady company GMK my $$$
Other then playing favorites, and allowing certain sets to jump ahead in the queue, they have most recently, stopped a perfectly legitimate set, for seemingly no valid reason, and then refuse to explain why. (possibly on the behalf of someone they play favorites with, or just do to ineptitude.) You can look at the GMK retowave ic thread (beginning in the middle of page 4) here to read more into it.I love SA kits so much- Best form.

Why is GMK shady?
I'm new to this, so it would be kind, if you could explain it to me.
I'm not really into their sets as well.
Thank you!
Love this set so much!! Couple questions though, are these caps abs or pbt? Gloss or semi matte? (looks like semi from the render, but never hurts to ask) And how thick?
I love SA kits so much- Best form.+1. what is happening on Retrowave is inexcusable.

I have a question though. Are THOK x SA Espresso keycaps a limited run? In other words, will anyone be able to get the keycap during the group buy, or should I order it ASAP as the supply might dry up?
I really like this set! It look like it is going to be my very first group buy. :)

Glad to hear that! What Johannes said is correct, will be available during GB.
I can't figure out the mod color GH VB NM. Any reason for this? Would have been nice to have R4 1u blanks (2) for more support than just ergodox.
- Will the pretty metal cap orders be unlimited? I ask because I plan to order on May.
- Can you bundle it with the rest of the set upon purchase? I ask because I remember this really cool novelty for Sanctuary Rebirth that was only available when you purchase from TKC (I purchased from zFrontier)
Thanks, looking forward to the group buy.
As a coffee freak, I like. gl!
Wow, completely forgot I had this thread bookmarked.
Very happy I chose today to check up on them, see you at GB!

I'm so so so excited to be so close the the group buy for this set!! I can't wait!
Wonder if this set can be produced in other profile in the future, I just can't type with SA profile...
I definitely plan to if everything goes well and there's interest
Hi all,5 1u keys isn’t very common for a bottom row. It’s hard to capture every keyboard layout in a reasonably priced kit and unfortunately the outliers often have to pay a bit more to buy an extension kit of some sorts.
First post, first keyboard, first GB, so bear with me! I absolutely love the look of this set and think it will go great with a wooden case but I've hit a couple of snags to sort out before I can commit to buying this.
I'm looking at using a BM60 ISO PCB because I like the form factor and I don't have the patience for that much soldering any more! I should need the alphas, TKL, and the ISO kits for a UK layout however, what looks like a 6.25U space is followed by 5 x 1U keys (3 for arrows) but the TKL doesn't have a 1U Alt which means adding the specialty kit FOR another €32 just to get a single key! Is that normal on group buys? This isn't a criticism, as I say, I'm new here and would appreciate hearing other viewpoints.
Also, thanks to what I assume is f%$>@ing Brexit, mykeyboard.eu don't appear to be accepting orders under €155 for UK based orders. Is anyone else here UK based and ordering these? Is it better to order from elsewhere and do you know if there are customs charges on this kind of thing?
TIA for any advice,
