Title: [IC] The Manly Unicorn
Post by: nubbinator on Wed, 10 September 2014, 21:18:09
This started out as a bit of fun after a long and stressful day at work and morphed into something fun and ridiculous, like Handerbeit meets a 5 year old girl.  This set is for those men out there who want to express their masculinity and those women who are confident in their femininity.   It's meant to be a serious set for serious people.  After all, nothing is more serious or manly than a unicorn.

Onto the details.  This is planning on being a two part set, the bare bones what you need for a full keyboard or smaller, and what I'm calling the "just shut up and buy it already" kit.  There is the possibility to add more caps to the latter, but the former is to keep it cheap and try and hit the MOQ since GMK MOQs are quite large.

The base set consists of your standard mods, alphas, function row, and numpad and various Esc keys (one of which Ivan has done in the past).

The "just shut up and buy it already" kit consists of the following:
- Alpha matched WASD cluster and Purple on Yellow WASD cluster
- Stepped Caps Lock
- Modifier matched stepped and full-touch Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, Num Lock, Backspace, and Arrow Cluster
- 1.5x Ctrl and Alt caps
- Matched 1x caps in bottom row profile for Winkey and G80-1800, 0, 00, +, and - for G80-1800
- Mod matched 6.25x and 7x Space Bar
- Green and Purple 7x Space Bar
- 1.75x Shift
- 1.75x Ctrl cap in the same profile as Caps Lock, in Mod matched and Green (Green to be added to the mock up later)
- Symmetry `~ and \| keys
- 1x R4 FN (forgot 1.5x R2 Delete and 1x R1 \| for HHKB layout, should I add them?)
- Basic ISO kit with ISO Enter, 1.25x Shift, R4 \|, and R3 #~ and @, can be changed to blanks if that is preferred

If anyone could render a better mockup, I'd be very grateful.

The planned colors are:
- Cyan (UN6037)
- Purple (UN5046)
- Yellow (CV)
- Green (AE)
- Magenta (UN33656)

I'll be getting an IC sheet up soon, but if you have any input, let me know.

Wholly moley thats more manly than I can handle!

The one kit thing is a good idea, giving you more for not much more, and everyone benefits.

Can you add a green Control key in place of the Caps Lock key as an extra?

Can you add a green Control key in place of the Caps Lock key as an extra?

I can add it on as an extra, not necessarily as an instead.  I may cull the kit a little at some point though, depending on the numbers looking to buy the kit and who needs what.  If the numbers are low and making it cheaper may increase numbers closer to the MOQ, I might go that route even though it will hurt others.

Wow. I'm speechless. Do you have an estimate how much will it cost?

I don't since I wanted to gauge interest and see what changes might need to be made before getting a price quote from GMK.  Based on prior pricing of GMK sets, I'd expect $90-120 for the base (depending if price goes up with additional colors) and probably $30-50 for the add on pack with an MOQ of 250

A) Unicorns are bottom tier mythical creatures. Just a horse with a horn, lame.
B) Those colors could not be further away from anything remotely manly. Just because you call it something doesn't make it not look like the color scheme to a six year old's Hello Kitty Trapper Keeper.
C) I mean, they are just occurally offensive and jarring colors. Never thought there would be something uglier than Miami, but here it is!

For what it counts, good luck with the IC. I can't wait to see them on peoples boards and silently judge them from a dark room thousands of miles away from where they are.

I'm always rooting for GMK buys to meet MOQ but I don't see this having a hope in hell if Feng can't even get 50 orders for the Cyan mods.

I wish you all the best for this GB Nubbinator, but to be honest I don't see this set reaching 250 orders...

Nor do I, but I was asked to run this as a GMK IC.  If it doesn't hit, it will be redone as SP.

Oh so its GMK? im in for whatever full set is from GMK, btw can we get one more Esc key in green color so we can have 5 Esc keys in total? 1 to be used as the standard and the other 4 can be used for above the number pad 4 keys for Trikx ,Ducky,Vortex boards etc etc etc?

1 extra Esc key shouldn't play huge role price wise and we are missing the green key after all, just decision is needed what color the legend will be.

EDIT: Nubbinator if this one doesn't go trough, are you willing to try and run IC for the Handerbeit set?

Yes.  Unicorn, beard, booze, potentially others.

You might find it extremely hard to tip in any GMK order because of the high MOQ that's required.  Not trying to be rude here but I don't think you'll get a huge avalanche of orders for these colours, unless the person buying is colour blind  8) .

Now if this was done solely in SA Profile at SP, then it might tip easily because like a rampant crack wh0re I'll be all over this set  :thumb: .

I'm in for GMK just for the purple alphas. It is a very bold set for GMK though so I have my doubts about meeting MOQ.

Would love to see it happen though!

Same here, I think it would complement the possible upcoming Cyan set from Feng really well.

It's not going to hit MOQ with that attitude ;)

Think feng posted that he's canceling that buy? Said there wasn't enough interest IIRC.

Right?  Whhat's life without levity.  I do realize it's a tough sell, but it's supposed to be fun.  If I can make it happen, there will be Lisa Frank wrapping paper (if I can find it) and manly unicorn stickers.

Elrick, if it goes SP, it will be DCS.  I know you love SA, but I don't amd the set would be like clown shoes in SA.

Fresh for days.

And GMK is tough, but if you don't try, you'lll never succeed.  If Miami could hit 200, I have hopes this can too.

The mockup is very bad, but I understand the idea behind this rainbow and support it.

1) Nubbinator going YOLO; - CHECK
2) Elrick requesting SA; - CHECK
3) Data suggesting it has nice colors; - CHECK
4) LechnerDE being nice as always; - CHECK
5) cherpalla supporting girly stuff; CHECK
6) MiTo claiming the mockup is a complete crap; - CHECK

According to my calculations, everything is fine and The Manly Unicorn Keyset won't fail.

As stated in the OP:

If anyone could render a better mockup, I'd be very grateful.

As I have said before, I am very limited in the tools available to me, so I cannot make super high res mock ups or renders, but would be grateful for any assistance making higher res mockups.  Pointing out that which has already been acknowledged is not in any way helpful.

Yeah, I'm not the biggest DCS fan, but it wouldn't work with DSA and it would look like clown shoes with SA, not to mention the fact that I hate SA.

The only other option would be to try and get it done in the Devlin QS series (http://www.devlin.co.uk/products/components/keycaps.html) since I want doubleshots, but that would mean we'd have to ghetto up the space bars with a different profile.  It would also mean working with a middle man, QWER, instead of directly with the manufacturer, and there may be increased color limitations.  I would prefer Devlin to SP since I think their caps are higher quality, but it would be tougher to do and I'm not sure of their MOQ or pricing.

I think I suggested in the IC form to maybe swap the yellow WASD to the "just shut up and buy it already" kit.  I'd prefer the alpha-matched WASD but then the base set has no yellow save for the ESC soooo...

As I walk away thoroughly depressed at this not being made in SA Profile but the dreaded DCS (real cheapo, early 90's rubber-dome style of key-set design, easily bought for children down at Kmart).

Just thought someone would at least go to GMK with an OFFICIAL  Handerbeit set for manufacture.  That is the ONLY rainbow set worth buying on this planet  :'( .

Sorry nubbs for cocking my leg up and pissing over your design perscription here because I always wanted a  Handerbeit set and yet NO ONE is going to provide here on Geekhack.  I thought you would be the FIRST one here taking this to GMK for full manufacture, please reconsider your design to include a full  Handerbeit Set instead?

Nothing's stopping you from running your own Handerbeit buy Elrick. This is an idea I was playing around with and thought would be fun.  Yes, it's practically a '90s Lisa Frank theme, but it's supposed to be ridiculous and fun.  Personally, I hate Handerbeit.  This was a fun theme that I wanted to see if there's a chance could be done, even though I have my doubts.

Thanks Hoff.  That said, I am completely open to constructive criticism.

I'm hoping to hit the GMK MOQ.  Right now I have 25 kits spoken for in the form since it went live and that's missing some from the thread who have said they'd be in for a set.  I really would like it to be GMK too.  I'll try and get some pics this weekend of GMK colors and one of the colorways that was done with an Esc cap so that people can get a better idea.

It really is more 90's neon than unicorn to be sure. It needs purple spacebars, matching the rest of the character keys is a must. I think instead of the yellow WASD inverse of the rest of alphas would look better. Perhaps do the entire F keys row in yellow?

It just loses something to me in that change:

I suppose I can look at building a tamer version of the set into the set, like WASD, purple space bar, and matched caps lock and backspace, but the added cost may drive some people away.

Just putting this out there since some people are putting SP level prices as the most they'd pay, $65-80 isn't really a reasonable expectation for a full GMK set.  Expect a full set to be in the $100-130 range.  I wish it could be cheaper, but GMK is more expensive than SP.  That said, the quality of the caps is much higher and you get nice, thick caps that are the same level of quality as original Cherry caps.

If people are willing to forgo GMK quality and go SP and novelties, that is an option, but I'm keeping fingers crossed for GMK level of interest.

price is not that different after all, look at the sets that SP has, the advantage of sp over gmk is the moq and people that have only pokers or tkl size boards due to low moq they can save up a little. but if you take as whole a full proper ANSI set + tsangan price will be the same maybe SP will be 10% cheaper..... take for example Pulse key set and and add all the option to make it proper full ansi set + tsangan, you will see will hit close to $130-140, the only way it will drop a little if moq rises very high. So after all only people that don't need full sets and are typical ansi sets users are saving.

Wish GMK was as flexible as SP but they are not, maybe in future they will change up a bit.

Right now we're looking at something like 35 or so.  I still need to get better mockups, add an ISO, and cross post this at DT.  I'll see what kind of numbers we can get. It's still a young IC, so we'll see.

And ICs don't always seem to hit the same numbers that the GB does.  I know the numbers were much higher with my UV GB than the IC for it.

I know you think you want to do something "UNIQUE" but we here at Geekhack still idolize what was done earlier by our ancient Cherry Forefathers. Stick with what's best go with the Handarbeit, you know you want to........  8)

No Elrick.  As I said before, if you want Handerbeit, go run it yourself.  Personally, I think Handerbeit looks like crap, hebce why I have no interest in it.  I asked how to help with MOQ, not choose something totally different.  At this point you're just trolling.

Not a big fan of Handerbeit, either, tbh.

Not sure what to do to make this set more appealing to others, though.  Honestly, as much as I like this, it's just one of those hit and miss sets.  If we change it too much then it's probably going to lose what appeals to us now. /shrug

Handarbeit actually works surprisingly well.  I constructed Rowdybeit out of a collection of random keycaps that was surprisingly accurate to the original.  It was more useable and less distracting than I suspected it might have been.

Title: Re: [IC] The Manly Unicorn, a GMK set
Post by: Sent on Mon, 22 September 2014, 18:37:50
Swapping the cyan and magenta keys might help?  I know that then becomes cyan mods which is similar to the set Feng is running an IC for, also.  That might make it more appealing to a broader range, though.  Everyone seems to love cyan.

Or having cyan mods, magenta spacebar and caps, and green backspace, arrow keys, etc.  Even though it's just switching the colors around, it might "tame" the set down a bit.  Just throwing out ideas.
Title: Re: [IC] The Manly Unicorn, a GMK set
Post by: nubbinator on Mon, 22 September 2014, 19:15:33
Swapping "normal" colors in for the green and then making the green part of the just buy it already pack instead could help.  The same with the WASD cluster and cyan mods.  I might go that route.  It loses some of the fun in doing so, but it might make it more appealing to a wider swath of people.

If I swap magenta to cyan, it loses something to me.  I'll try some mock ups later, but in my mind, I'm not sure how I'll like it.

Well, 50 interested people doesn't translate to 50 orders, but you know that...

I guess the only way to make such a set work with GMK is doing seperate sets like starting with a complete pink modifier set first. This might attract orders from people who want to combine it with their vintage Cherry sets. Next GB is fullsize purple keys and so on and so on.

But even then, it seems unreachable with GMK...

Well, it's still in the formative stages without a post on DT yet, so don't talk like it's an impossible dream.  I'm still going to work on it and refine it and see if there's a way to make it happen easier.  If this doesn't work out, there is on of my typewriter sets that would work with GMK that I can play with, but it won't be as fun of a set.

Sketchbook may be able to open PSDs.  If it's a layered file, you can save the layers as transparent PNGs and I can rebuild with that.  I may have access to Photoshop or Illustrator, but I'll have to check.

OK, before I go any further, see if you can open this PSD file:
http://www.infinitefacet.com/files/1uKeycapTemplate.psd

That's my host, but feel free to run the file through VirusTotal if you're unsure.  https://www.virustotal.com/en/

If you can open it, try to change the color of the vector object on the layer called "Key".  Change it at the layer level if you can.  Try not to use a paint bucket.  If it works the layer above it should apply the proper shading for a depth effect (it's a black overlay at 30% fill opacity).

Assuming all of that works I'll work on an ANSI 125 layout for you (and presumably others) to use.  Should make coloring pretty easy.

It works perfectly with Pixlr.

I just color matched, then adjusted the gradient mask percentage on the layer for the sides and it worked just fine.

Sketchbook can open it, but without a Pro membership, it doesn't work as well since it won't let me open it with layers.

in my opinion (and i feel like there are a lot of people like me out there), i would not buy the entire set but i would certainly buy a moogle / tsangan kit to spice up my "serious" gmk sets (classic beige, dolch, etc). It might be worth considering throwing that out there as an option, if only to see if it meets MOQ.

What about something like Handarbeit, but with pinks and purples instead of reds and greens?

I made a Rowdybeit at one stage that was extremely close to Handarbeit, and it was surprisingly usable and nowhere near as distracting as I thought it might be.

That looks like about 8 different TaiHao sets?

Since interest is slowing, is it time to consider a non-GMK provider for lower MOQ? Of course, it doesn't matter since I'm broke right now and will be for the foreseeable future.

I suppose giving the numbers it's time to start looking at SP.  I was also hoping to have better mockups, but that hasn't happened yet.  If someone could get me a good template, I could go from there on my own.

And I'll probably tone it down a little with a "color" pack or see about splitting it so that you either buy the boring or the colorful pack or both to fill it out.

I want GMK.  I'm waiting to see what the Unikey thing is before any final decisions are made, but right now the numbers just aren't there for GMK.  I'd need everyone to double or triple their order to hit MOQ.

As for SP DCS or DSA, I've been up front from the beginning that I wouldn't do SP SA and that if it didn't hit GMK MOQ, it would likely be SP DCS.  Call me selfish or whatever, but I won't run a GB for a color scheme I want in a profile I despise, even if it is the current "hip" thing.  That said, if we can hit DCS MOQ, I'd be more than willing to also run it in SA as well, I just won't cannibalize sales in a profile I want.

If you want to crack the GMK factory to make this then it will solely depend upon the people signing up for this which would be around 250.

Like I said numerous times before COPY the original "Handerbeit  Colour-way" and I'll buy up 4 complete sets straight away, no questions asked.

Always stick to the original concept (don't bastardize it) because you'll get far GREATER pick up on the set, just like Dolch and Hyperfuse did (fact)  :thumb: .

oh my goodness lol, how much would this set actually cost?? considering more colours in the set = increase in price from GMK right?

This set died a while ago, look at the date.

Not dead, just on infinite hiatus ;)

That's unfortunate. I love it. It's like the Crayola factory vomited all over a keyboard.

It's hideous. It's to bright. There's too many colors. I want it.

I don't think that's how they work, I'd assume this set would cost the same as other GMK sets. But there isn't enough support to hit the 250 MOQ which is why this IC failed.
Title: Re: [IC] The Manly Unicorn, a GMK set
Post by: nubbinator on Mon, 16 March 2015, 00:32:08
I may try and rework it some and make it less unicorn vomity to make it more appealing to a larger group.  If I do that, I might see about making it a TKL or 60% set to make it cheaper and something more people would be willing to buy.  A slimmed down GMK set may have a chance.  If it's SP only, I'll probably kill it and just do the Retro Cassette DSA first.

What's funny is people go crazy for Handerbeit which, to me, is even more god awful since it's actually trying to take itself seriously.

The Asians seem to love it in spades.  Because anything actually produced by the Cherry Factory all those years ago is so desired now and is quite valuable.

GMK is the sole manufacturer that nearly every hard-core asian fanatic loves PLUS having an ULTRA rare key-set helps to further attract more interest from the fanatics out there, including myself.

I maybe the only non-asian that loves the Handerbeit to death since it represents a part of important keyboard history deserving resurrection today  8) .

Was Handarbeit originally made by GMK?

Maybe they'd make a few sets with lower MOQ as part of their history.

It's an odd mix of old school Crayola Crayon box colors and pastels that don't mix well.  I was never keen on the random colors.

That doesn't mean that you can't own it.  Put it on another board and allow it to slowly up your manliness in small daily doses until you reach the proper levels to use it as your main set.  Dolch and beige sets will always be around to look pretty, but this set will instill you with supreme power.

What the f***?  If Mattel made a Barbie keyboard, it would straight up be this s***.  So why do I keep coming back to this thread?  How the hell did so much hair suddenly grow on my chest?  And for god's sake, why is there no tangerine (V2 in OP image) in this set!?  You couldn't fit it into the backspace or enter key?

Isn't the whole point of this set to be looked at?  To quote the poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, "if the eyes were made for seeing, then beauty is its own excuse for being".  Besides, if this set encourages the typist to stare at the keys while typing, it may actually reduce typing mistakes.

The tangerine keys are interesting, at least as options, but I must agree 1000% on the novelty keys... We need a manly unicorn key. I didn't think a custom legends were that expensive unless you do it on every single key.

its on my list to push for after the current sets, which have been locked in since round 1, i have been pretty clear this second round was planned since the start, but we would be looking in to more adventurous schemes after this, we needed these initial buys to get on our feet, and work out the kinks

I'm down. I need something more drastic than my Miami set. My coworkers are starting to accept that one. I can't have that, must remain mysterious and unpredictable

That looks awful.  Manly Unicorn is far more tasteful and classy.

I do plan on making some more little tweaks to it and think I may just pay for a render of it, even though it's hard for me to shell out $50 to do so.

I don't think so. nubbinator said he's working with BunnyLake to have this made by JTK, but that's 5-7 sets away. This rendering is just about building hype and getting a glimpse at what the real deal will look like.

It's the colours which will be difficult to get because GMK will need to source them off site from other manufacturers and who knows how long that will take.

Plus if they are simply not able to find your specified colours, then what will you guys be willing to accept as a substitution instead?

I'm willing to accept substitution because I love GMK/Cherry profile, hell I even want more colors since we only have 5 out of 7 colors for rainbow

Sorry, I figured people had seen it on the previous pages, especially since Elrick has responded to posts about how this is going to be JTK. I changed the title to remove the GMK part.  I've just gotten tired of Elrick coming in and ****ting all over the thread and not providing anything useful, so I've been getting a little short.  It's one thing to provide constructive criticism.  It's another to do what he's been doing.

Don't be a fvcking retard here, I only read what someone posted above me.

I don't have the luxury of time to read pages of junk to know what you are playing around with.  Unlike you I work for a living so spending all day and night on GH and reading anything related to your colour-way isn't tops on my list of what to know.

Yeah, he is. Supposedly it's soon, as in there's one or two sets ahead of it (last I heard), but he'd have to give the definitive update.  It's doable with GMK right now, but I'd still rather go JTK since it will have a wider range of compatibility and be cheaper.

I probably should work on getting a little more compatibility worked out and then see about getting a set render and a board render.

Main reasons I'm not sure if I want to go that route is because I don't want to run a GB that sized through my personal Paypal account for a variety of reasons.  If I did run it through GMK, I'd want an intermediary who had Stripe with Paypal as a backup to collect the money and then I'd handle the distribution.  There are just so many potential headaches with Paypal and the IRS since I would be collecting at least $15,000 for the buy (assuming just a base of $100 a set and 150 sets).

Also, if I went that route, I'd want to look into getting a nice lasercut cap box like this (https://deskthority.net/resources/http-www-kbdmania-net-xe-4217192/3698) only with Ducky style cap slots (http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0490/7329/products/ccng1.jpg?v=1413861478) and see if GMK could sort and ship in those boxes like they did with their awful plastic cases for the TA buy.  Even if I did the sorting myself, it shouldn't be too bad since there are a decent number of people around me and I know some of them would help out with sorting.

Yeah the IRS stuff sounds like a major potential headache - I know as soon as you go over $10k in transactions they start to pay a lot of attention - even if you made multiple payments you could get in a HUGE amount of trouble for structuring

GMK have apparently improved their tray design by the way - I think Sherry from originative has some

If GMK have improved things on their end, that eliminates some of the problem.  Then just let it run through MassDrop and don't worry about having to deal with the shipping and such.

Though if it comes to it, party at Nub's :D  I'll pass through the Orange Curtain and lend a hand if need be ;)

Well running with Massdrop is a good option in terms of less headache
but again for international buyer like us, we're stuck with paying high custom tax. Massdrop declared the full value of the item bought

I've to agree that if this is happening, GMK production would pay off
not that JTK is bad,is just that the overall product is better
but again the price is also big concern

That is an option, though I'm not a huge MD fan.

This would be solved by having an international proxy working in conjunction with the buy

However this set pans out, I am pretty excited.

I know its been said before, but I think that a purple space would be a great addition to complete the alphas.
Also, I think that a cyan enter would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, that's some of the clean up for the mockup I need to do.  I plan on making it have some caps to make it a little more "accessible".

I'm sticking to the SA profile for now but I'm still interested to see how this set turns out.
As for novelty key ideas, how about a unipede space bar?

No novelty keys as it's GMK, though I might see what symbol legends they have.  If we wait and go JTK, there is the potential for novelty keys, but it wouldn't be anything like that spacebar.

GMK Monkey (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=79061.0) has novelty keys  :)

I can talk to GMK, but they've stated that they don't do novelty keys.  GMK monkey also went through Cherry I believe.

Ahh ok, sorry. I thought feng actually made that legend and GMK had agreed to make it.

Ok, updated keycaps that should be included.  I feel like I need to nuke some to make it more affordable or to break off the super anti-rainbow pack, but I also feel like keeping the massive pack is what will convince a certain population to hop on board.

Let me know what you think can be nuked and what should be kept.  Also, let me know if you prefer the yellow or the blue WASD cluster as one of those can probably be nuked.

The bottom pack is organized by row.  Function and number row are the same profile as are the shift and spacebar rows.  There will not be any A profile caps as I feel past buys have clearly shown people do not like it and it is not a good selling point.  I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to wait for JTK (I need to talk to bunny and see where things are looking timewise) or if I'm going to go GMK.

In that case I'd probably just rather not have a WASD cluster at all, yellow doesn't appeal to me really. I see what you mean with the Skeletor set but realistically they would have to both come to fruition and people buy both to even be mildly annoyed, you could just as easily do a yellow WASD cluster with the skeletor.

Blue WASD is best WASD

The only problem is that I kind of want to see a Skeletor set and the blue WASD would just be doing caps from that.

Okay, wanted to give a better idea of what everything would be and wanted to update OP.

Should this be run as a complete buy everything set or a base set and child deal?  Should there be a small Esc pack buy first so that people can actually see the colors?  Any caps that can be nuked to make it more affordable?  Any changes that should be made?

I tried to cover all the basic layouts with the add-on set, but since I don't use a ton of alternate layouts I could be missing some essential caps.

Potential Esc pack (Ivan already did the yellow on Magenta in a prior pack)

The Esc pack is an interesting idea, I would probably get a set if you end up doing it.  The yellow WASD cluster isn't very appealing to me.  Also I noticed that there is no R2 1.5u Backspace key for HHKB type layouts.

Any caps that can be nuked to make it more affordable?

To make it more affordable, maybe remove the alternate arrow cluster and one of the WASD sets?  Limit stepped Caps and R3 Control to one color?

I have that as a question in the OP.  Should I add an R2 1.5x Delete and R1 1x |/ key?  The main reason I didn't is because the Viper is the only board off the top of my head that supports the HHKB layout, so it didn't make sense to add it for such a tiny minority who probably aren't buying it, at least not for the Viper.

I could delete the one WASD cluster if there's a general consensus for blue or yellow being preferred, but the alt arrows are likely staying for those who want uniform mods.

Similar deal for the stepped and full touch caps, getting rid of them disrupts some winkeyless boards.  If there's a way to reduce the number of caps and control keys without disrupting compatibility, I'm all for it.

I believe a lot of the DIY keyboard sets are starting to allow people to create the HHKB layout if they wish, such as the True Fox version of the WhiteFox by Matt3o and LeandreN's latest GB.  I know I personally would have interest in one but as you said I'm not sure how much of a minority that is.  Maybe a new poll would be beneficial in deciding which clusters or addons people want to keep/get rid of?

So based on the feedback so far, it's looking like I need to expand a little with some HHKB layout caps (updated permalink with them (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/##@@_c=%233ab2c2&t=%236f4f78%3B&=Esc&_x:1&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=F1&=F2&=F3&=F4&_x:0.5&c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=F5&=F6&=F7&=F8&_x:0.5&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=F9&=F10&=F11&=F12&_x:0.25&c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=PrtSc&_c=%235cb835&t=%236f4f78%3B&=Scroll%20Lock&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=Pause%0ABreak%3B&@_y:0.5&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=~%0A%60&=!%0A1&=%2F@%0A2&=%23%0A3&=$%0A4&=%25%0A5&=%5E%0A6&=%2F&%0A7&=*%0A8&=(%0A9&=)%0A0&=%2F_%0A-&=+%0A%2F=&_c=%233ab2c2&t=%236f4f78&w:2%3B&=Backspace&_x:0.25&c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=Insert&=Home&=PgUp&_x:0.25&c=%235cb835&t=%236f4f78%3B&=Num%20Lock&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=%2F%2F&=*&=-%3B&@_w:1.5%3B&=Tab&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=Q&_c=%233ab2c2&t=%236f4f78%3B&=W&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=E&=R&=T&=Y&=U&=I&=O&=P&=%7B%0A%5B&=%7D%0A%5D&_w:1.5%3B&=%7C%0A%5C&_x:0.25&c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=Delete&=End&=PgDn&_x:0.25&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=7%0AHome&=8%0A%E2%86%91&=9%0APgUp&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&h:2%3B&=+%3B&@_c=%235cb835&t=%236f4f78&w:1.25&w2:1.75&l:true%3B&=Caps%20Lock&_x:0.5&c=%233ab2c2%3B&=A&=S&=D&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=F&=G&=H&=J&=K&=L&=%2F:%0A%2F%3B&=%22%0A'&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&w:2.25%3B&=Enter&_x:3.5&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=4%0A%E2%86%90&=5&=6%0A%E2%86%92%3B&@_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&w:2.25%3B&=Shift&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=Z&=X&=C&=V&=B&=N&=M&=%3C%0A,&=%3E%0A.&=%3F%0A%2F%2F&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&w:2.75%3B&=Shift&_x:1.25&c=%233ab2c2&t=%236f4f78%3B&=%E2%86%91&_x:1.25&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=1%0AEnd&=2%0A%E2%86%93&=3%0APgDn&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&h:2%3B&=Enter%3B&@_w:1.25%3B&=Ctrl&_w:1.25%3B&=Win&_w:1.25%3B&=Alt&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2&a:7&w:6.25%3B&=&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&a:4&w:1.25%3B&=Alt&_w:1.25%3B&=Win&_w:1.25%3B&=Menu&_w:1.25%3B&=Ctrl&_x:0.25&c=%233ab2c2&t=%236f4f78%3B&=%E2%86%90&=%E2%86%93&=%E2%86%92&_x:0.25&c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2&w:2%3B&=0%0AIns&=.%0ADel%3B&@_x:3.75&c=%235cb835&a:7&w:6.25%3B&=%3B&@_y:2&c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&a:4%3B&=~%0A%60&_w:2%3B&=Backspace&=Scroll%20Lock&=Num%20Lock%3B&@_x:0.25&c=%23e64e83&a:7&w:1.25&h:2&h2:1&x2:-0.25%3B&=Enter&_c=%23e64e81&a:4&w:1.5%3B&=%7C%0A%5C&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2&w:1.5%3B&=Delete&=%7C%0A%5C&_x:5.75%3B&=W&_x:2&c=%23fce300&t=%236f4f78%3B&=W&_x:3&c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=-%3B&@_x:1.5&c=%235cb835&t=%236f4f78&w:1.75%3B&=Caps%20Lock&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&w:1.75%3B&=Caps%20Lock&_w:1.25&w2:1.75&l:true%3B&=Caps%20Lock&_x:0.5&w:1.75%3B&=Control&_c=%235cb835&t=%236f4f78&w:1.75%3B&=Control&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=A&=S&=D&_c=%23fce300&t=%236f4f78%3B&=A&=S&=D&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=%23%0A~&=%2F@%0A'&=+%3B&@_w:1.25%3B&=Shift&=%7C%0A%5C&_w:1.75%3B&=Shift&=Fn&_x:9.25%3B&=%E2%86%91%3B&@=Ctrl&_x:1%3B&=Alt&_x:6.25%3B&=Alt&_x:1%3B&=Menu&=Ctrl&=%E2%86%90&=%E2%86%93&=%E2%86%92&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=0&=00%3B&@_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&w:1.5%3B&=Ctrl&=Win&_w:1.5%3B&=Alt&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2&a:7&w:7%3B&=&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300&a:4&w:1.5%3B&=Alt&=Win&_w:1.5%3B&=Ctrl%3B&@_x:4&c=%235cb835&t=%233ab2c2&a:7&w:7%3B&=%3B&@_y:2&c=%23fce300&t=%236f4f78&a:4%3B&=Esc&_c=%23e64e81&t=%23fce300%3B&=Esc&_c=%236f4f78&t=%233ab2c2%3B&=Esc)) and then stay the course with JTK and see about running Skeletor GMK.

I'm hoping I can get some bulk render discount on sets or my wallet will hate me.

I'm still happy to help out with render fees.

Any way for a 6u space bar since HHKB sliders are getting more popular?

I can see if GMK has the 6x spacebars, but if they do, it would be off centered:

If we wait for JTK, there should be more options.  I think we'll have to wait for that.

Forgot about that. They don't offer the multiple stem one.

Damn :(

Want this on a HHKB really badly

I think base and child works the best for people that want specifics, I don't use anything other than a 60% anymore so a full set is kind of a waste to me.

The thing is to try to get a decent base kit to avoid problems with pricing issues.  It ends up a balancing act.

I'm still hoping it happens, but I haven't heard anything from Bunny about it.  It was supposed to be up as a JTK buy soon.

B) Those colors could not be further away from anything remotely manly. Just because you call it something doesn't make it not look like the color scheme to a six year old's Hello Kitty Trapper Keeper.

Are you saying my Hello Kitty Trapper Keeper isn't manly!??!1!?

C) I mean, they are just occurally offensive and jarring colors. Never thought there would be something uglier than Miami, but here it is!

If there's one thing in life, every time you see something that is the most offensive thing you've ever seen, there's always something else coming your way.

For what it counts, good luck with the IC. I can't wait to see them on peoples boards and silently judge them from a dark room thousands of miles away from where they are.

Isn't that why Kibo invented the internet?
